Can D.C. survive ´unstoppable´ ice melt?
WTOP Radio (DC), by Neal Augenstein

Original Article

What will become of the nation´s capital? The huge West Antarctic ice sheet is slowly collapsing, and two groups of scientists say the melting is now an unstoppable event. Melting ice will cause sea levels to rise higher than initially projected, which is cause for concern for D.C.-area scientists and local urban planners. The rising seas will affect local treasures, including the Chesapeake Bay and the country's iconic monuments along the National Mall.

The disappearance of all influence emanating from Washington DC might be the best thing ever envisaged to sustain and support Western Civilization.

Much as we can wish it -- it ain´t gonna happen. Global warming will increase the snow fall over the Antarctic, which will trap more ice, not less.

Let the ice melt (and flood). It´ll help to drain the D. C. swamp.

I was just reading about an archaeological discovery in Mexico dating back 12,000 years. It said that the sea level was 360 feet below where it is today. So, this sea level rising has been going on a very long time.

Not again!!

Remember when that happened in the year 2000?

"It is now pretty clearly agreed that the C02 content will rise 25% by 2000. This could increase the average temperature near the earth´ s surface by 7 degrees Fahrenheit. This in turn could raise the level of the sea by 10 feet. Goodbye New York.
Goodbye Washington, for that matter. We have no data on Seattle."

These "scientists" and local urban planners should spend their time on something that is far more likely to happen: Godzilla arriving in D.C.

It is best to plan on the sea level to continue rising, as it has been since the last Ice Age. If it indeed stops rising it means the coming Ice Age has begun. Then you can change your plans.

Well, if I had my druthers I would like to see the DC Delta sink beneath the waves and waving seas of grain all the way to the Arctic Circle in the East and the West. Maybe somebody from the Southern Hemisphere could chime in with a similar positive outlook there. Like a change in the weather patterns which would quadruple the rain in Australia so they could become the Southern Hemisphere Bread Basket? (There has to be a Pony in here someplace...)

It´s odd that the very same people who believe this didn´t take it into consideration when planning for MLK´s statue, otherwise it wouldn´t be in the projected flood zone.

The seeds of what blossomed grotesquely in the Rose Garden last weekend — a celebration of the release of five senior Taliban military leaders in exchange for a U.S. sergeant purported to be a deserter — were sown a long time ago: on the second and third days of President Obama’s first term, to be precise. On his second day in office, the president signed an executive order directing that the Guantanamo Bay detention facility be closed. You can watch the cringe-inducing video of the signing ceremony on YouTube, as the president stumbles through a reading of the order to

The chairman of the Democratic National Committee accused Republicans of “grasping at straws” in their criticism of the Bowe Bergdahl case and “nitpicking” over the number of Taliban exchanged for his release. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) accused GOP senators, specifically Susan Collins (R-Maine), of saying “we should leave a member of our armed forces who was in the midst of an armed conflict, regardless of the circumstances that he will likely be tried for and considered innocent until proven guilty later.” “That she would leave a soldier in an armed conflict behind when we had intelligence from everything that I understand

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Wednesday that he didn’t know of any troops who had died in the search for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, amid a growing controversy over whether the former Taliban prisoner deserted his unit. “I do not know of specific circumstances or details of U.S. solders dying as a result of efforts to find and rescue Sgt. Bergdahl," Hagel said at a press conference in Brussels, Belgium, where he met with NATO defense ministers, Reuters reported. Bergdahl’s release sparked controversy after the Obama administration’s decision to swap him for five Taliban commanders being held in the prison at

HOUSTON, Texas — Breitbart Texas obtained internal federal government photos depicting the conditions of foreign children warehoused by authorities on U.S. soil on Wednesday night. Thousands of illegal immigrants have overrun U.S. border security and their processing centers in Texas along the U.S./Mexico border. Unaccompanied minors, including young girls under the age of 12, are making the dangerous journey from Central America and Mexico, through cartel-controlled territories, and across the porous border onto U.S. soil. The photos illuminate the conditions of the U.S. Border Patrol’s processing centers, as well as the overwhelming task Border Patrol is facing. Breitbart Texas Border Expert and

One of the most striking elements of the Bowe Bergdahl affair is word that top Army officers were so anxious to keep the matter a secret that they directed Bergdahl´s fellow soldiers to sign a pledge of silence about his 2009 decision to walk away from duty in Afghanistan. "Many of Bergdahl´s fellow troops…signed nondisclosure agreements agreeing to never share any information about Bergdahl´s disappearance and the efforts to recapture him," wrote CNN´s Jake Tapper, who first reported the agreements last Sunday. Now, with Bergdahl back in U.S. hands, many of those former soldiers are ignoring the agreement they signed. They

Among the most tantalizing mysteries surrounding Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s departure from his U.S. military base in 2009 is this: Was he trying to find the Taliban? Or did he simply wander away and get captured? Politicians and members of the military have criticized the Obama administration’s decision to swap five jailed Taliban leaders for Bergdahl, saying the soldier may have deserted. Until now, few details have emerged about the circumstances of Bergdahl’s disappearance from his base. But The Washington Post has reached Afghan villagers who spotted Bergdahl shortly after he slipped away from his base. To them, it’s clear something was

Five years ago, I publicly raised questions about Bowe Bergdahl’s desertion from Blackfoot Company, 1-501 Infantry (Airborne), 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division. A few weeks after his so-called “capture” in late June 2009, three conflicting accounts had surfaced: U.S. officials told the Associated Press Bergdahl had “walked off” the base with three Afghans; the Taliban claimed on its website that “a drunken American soldier had come out of his garrison” and into their arms; and Bergdahl claimed in his Taliban “hostage video” that he had “lagged behind a patrol” before being captured. Bill Clinton´s critics in Arkansas used to say that he would rather climb a tree and tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth. In other words, Clinton would lie when the truth would do -- and when telling the truth would be easier. The saying might apply to the Obama administration´s public statements about Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. soldier released from captivity in Afghanistan in a trade for five Taliban commanders held at Guantanamo Bay. There is substantial evidence to suggest that Bergdahl abandoned his post in 2009 -- he went AWOL, he deserted, whatever

Britain works “pretty well” as a “united” nation, the US President said, in major intervention in the debate over the future of Scotland. The President reiterated his call for Britain to remain in the European Union. The commemoration of D-Day shows Europe depends on Britain for its prosperity, and the UK will lose out if it excluded, the President said. The British people will make the “right decision” in an in-out referendum, he said. Alex Salmond said Scotland wanted its independence like the
