Donald Sterling tells NBA
he doesn´t plan to pay fine

USA Today, by Jeff Zillgitt

Original Article

Posted By:mark34, 5/15/2014 9:55:38 PM

Banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling does not plan to pay the $2.5 million fine levied by the NBA, Sterling´s attorney wrote in a letter to the NBA, a person with first-hand knowledge of the letter told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the letter, which was sent on Thursday. (Snip) Blecher, a well-known antitrust attorney, also contends that the fine violates Sterling´s due process rights and said the matter will need to settled in court. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on April 29 fined Sterling $2.5 million and issued him a lifetime ban.

Comments:
Good. I hope Sterling sticks with his decision not to pay the fine.

Nor should he. Even though he is a toad-faced racist, it´s no one´s business what thoughts he expresses in private.

So very very tired of the chip-on-the-shoulder/PC/"get whitey" crowd. At some point, someone is going to have to kick the snot out of them. This may not be the battle, but this crowd is far beyond out of control. Gay activists are just as bad. Obama is enticing these creeps to crawl out of the woodwork.

I´m aghast at the vicious response by supposed conservative people. Make him sell his share of the team! Ban him for life from a public arena! As Clarence Thomas observed, "this is a high tech lynching." Piling on is so righteous. Are you absolutely sure you have NEVER said or done anything in the privacy of your home that someone could exploit?

If the New Inquisition fined every American $2.5 million for things said in the privacy of their own home, it might be enough to pay back the trillions Barack Hussein has wasted (no fine for Dear Leader´s behavior!). On the other hand, no it wouldn´t.

We wait patiently for senator Robert Byrd (D) to be fined for all the far, far, far, far, worse things said in the privacy of his home. Not to mention the scores of Democrats on tape somewhere using the n-word.

At least Sterling is just getting fined. The way the Soviets handled these matters, you were sent to the gulag for merely *thinking* thoughts deemed unacceptable. But I´m sure our Inquisitors have plans for that...

Mark Levin laid out a case the other day based on an article he found saying in so many words that the commissioner over stepped his bounds and applied an article in the NBA rules that doesn´t apply. Sterling needs his day in court. We are all still equal under the law whether or not the things he said were offensive or not. Free speech is still legal. Recording a private conversation without consent is still illegal and broadcasting said recorded conversation without permission is still illegal. In the commish´s case he has a phone and a pen and he acted to appease his lynch mob. Meanwhile the ambulance chasers like Oprah are circling like hungry sharks.

Sterling is an unappealing person with an unappealing attitude caught on tape, and filthy rich to boot. That being said, the reaction to what he said is so far over the top, including from supposed conservatives, that it points to a truly sick society.

Putin sees our superficiality, our weak leadership and our progressive´s arrogance and thinks it is time to strike. Who will be next to pile on?

If 666 becomes President, I think the predators will believe the time has come to strike, for it will prove that we are fatally weakened.

First and foremost I don´t think this sad old man is a racist. A bigot possibly, but not a racist. Second...if had his wits about him he would have got together with his wife...after the NBA pronounced on him...and fired all the players and coaches of the Clippers. Then he would have cancelled the remainder of the season and told the Season Ticket Holders and Sponsors..."Sorry, the NBA forced me to do this." Then gone on vacation and waited for the next NBA draft....

This will take years to resolve. It all comes down to the legal agreement that owners sign that says they can be removed for making their team uncompetitive.. In the meantime, LeBron has said he will boycott the Clippers next year if Sterling is still there.

The former head of Iran´s nuclear program is laying out in detail how the U.S. and other intelligence agencies allegedly carried out a constant campaign of sabotage against his country. According to Fereydoon Abbasi, who spoke to an Iranian newspaper, the U.S. would prevent companies from sending equipment to Iran -- but would then put that kind of equipment on the black market, having ensured it would actually damage Iranian operations. He claims the U.S. would find out, via the U.N. nuclear agency, what parts Iran was trying to get and from whom, and plant everything from viruses to explosives

A leak of the major findings of a landmark Senate inquiry into the CIA’s post-9/11 torture of terrorism detainees led, on Friday, to intensified pressure on the White House and the CIA to release the inquiry speedily and with a minimum of redactions. The classified study, prepared by the Senate select committee on intelligence, concluded that the CIA’s interrogations, secret detentions and outsourced torture sessions were “brutal, and far worse than the agency communicated to policymakers.” More suspected terrorists underwent the agency’s post-9/11 treatment, which largely lasted from 2002 to 2006, than the CIA has publicly admitted,
