Michael Sam’s Reality Show Could
Help End NFL Career Before It Starts

Mediaite, by Joe Concha

Michael Sam is an historic figure. In being the first openly gay player drafted by the NFL, Mr. Sam has endured the most scrutiny and discussion of any 7th-round pick, perhaps any pick, in the history of the game. Before being drafted, in interviews and even a Visa commercial, the 24-year-old has stressed the same theme: “Judge me for what I do on the field.” Along those lines, a particular quote sticks out when reading Sam’s Sports Illustrated interview after he first came out earlier this year: “You know, people — the media, of course — are going to make a big deal

This is a non-story. Don´t these people have anything better to do with their time? If he can play football, good. If not, he´ll move on to what he is good at, if he is good at anything other than getting attention.

AJ McCarron, QB for Alabama reportedly lost draft status because of his reality tv plans. Granted, he had a great team surrounding him and may have been overrated, but he still fell in the draft.

As many teams that have said they did not want to be featured on HBO´s Hard Knocks show, I don´t think this will go over too well.

Judge him by his football skills! lol

Let no one be fooled by this trashy act and the revolting kiss to which we were treated as the means this man chose to send his message to everyone who isn´t gay (97% of America) and all NFL fans. There was no need whatsoever for this behavior any more than there was any reason to dump on the St. Louis Rams. No one will remember anything except his shoving his gay agenda down our throats and daring anyone to object to anything he chooses to do no matter how bad the taste and judgment or offensive the behavior. Here´s my message to Mr. Sam: go away. You´re a revolting, whiney, creep who has come into the limelight leaving nothing to the imagination regarding your own selfishness.

From what I´ve seen, Sam is too small to be an NFL defensive end and too slow to be a linebacker. His best hope may be special teams. If he turns out to not be good enough, the Rams will be in a tough spot - if they cut him there will be cries of ´homophobia´ from the professional liberal grudge masters. If they keep him they are weakening the team.

My guess is that he is included with the final cuts and then immediately signed to the Rams practice roster. He´d be quietly cut after the season and never see the field in a regular season NFL game.

I do wonder if the NFL gave the Rams some kind of secret incentive to pick Sam so the league could avoid bad PR for him going undrafted. Would not be something obvious, but preferential treatment for future home MNF games or the like...

#10, but you wouldn´t think anything of it if a player gave a big fat juicy kiss to a girl in front of everyone on camera, would you? Isn´t that exactly the problem here? Why is it always "an agenda" when someone wants to be able to just be himself in public like everyone else? I am sorry...I do know there is a leftist agenda that is forcing a lot of this stuff on us and I do not like it because I know there is an insidious plan behind it. But that doesn´t mean that all gay people are part of that agenda. Most gay people just want to be free to be themselves--just as you a every other heterosexual has been free to be themselves for ages. The only problem I have with this guy is that he had to make it a media circus of coming out. If he is a good player, it will be that which will end up costing him his career.

So, the Rams didn´t know about this reality show until after he was signed, I don´t imagine this will increase his popularity with anyone connected to the team.

White House struggles

Washington Post, by Greg Sargent    Original Article

One of the problems the White House faces with the huge influx of unaccompanied minors into South Texas is that it has spent weeks citing poverty and gang violence in Central America as explanation for why all these kids are fleeing northward. Today the administration announced that it would take new measures to expedite the removal of these kids. But if they had good reasons for fleeing, then how can the administration justify expediting their removal back to the places they fled? As it happens, today’s announcement is in some ways justifiable in policy terms. Yet the above question still

Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell announced a series of management changes Friday intended to consolidate responsibilities for the operations of the federal health insurance marketplace — something critics have urged since the troubled rollout of HealthCare.gov last year. Burwell announced that she plans to hire a “marketplace chief executive officer” — an idea that some within the White House had advocated without success right after the passage of the Affordable Care Act, the 2010 law that created the health insurance exchange. In addition, Burwell said she has appointed Andy Slavitt, group executive vice president of Optum,

A constant refrain from those who insist on comprehensive immigration reform – read: amnesty – rather than closing the border as a first step toward dealing with the immigration issue is that the border cannot be closed. That’s nonsense. The border can be closed, but both parties have a seeming interest in keeping it open. Democrats want the border open to usher in millions of people, most of them undereducated and likely to depend at least in part on government, who will presumably vote for bigger government once they are given citizenship. Republicans want the border open to provide cheap labor

For understandable reasons, the IRS scandal has largely focused on the political question of whether the White House deliberately targeted its opponents. To date there’s no evidence that it did. That’s good for the president, but it may not be good for the country, because if the administration didn’t target opponents, that would mean the IRS has become corrupt all on its own. In 1939, Bruno Rizzi, a largely forgotten Communist intellectual, wrote a hugely controversial book, The Bureaucratization of the World. Rizzi argued that the Soviet Union wasn’t Communist.
