Settled and unsettled science
American Thinker, by Brian C Joondeph

Original Article

President Obama declared “global warming” to be settled science. Or maybe he meant “climate change.” Or is it “climate disruption”? Whatever. It’s settled as fact. No more discussion or disagreement. This is based on the recently released National Climate Assessment. The NY Times calls this report “totally alarming.” The only thing alarming is that an American college professor wants anyone who disagrees with the premise of manmade global warming to be thrown in jail. This report was prepared by the US Global Change Research Program. Funded with a huge annual budget of $2.5 billion, not much less than the

Comments:
Since 1988 the federal government has micrurated away well over $100 billion hiring willing accomplices in academia to write fantasy pieces on climate to scare the world into the Green dream of reverting back to pre-Industrial Revolution times. These subsidies should be ended forthwith, and professors who´ve massaged or fabricated data to please Al Gore and Barack Obama should be decertified and perhaps sued under the RICO statutes for stoking hysteria and causing trillions to be spent on something that isn´t a problem, let alone one caused by mankind.

We are not talking about Chicken Little´s here. These are sociopaths and narcissists, demanding complete control over the lives of everyone.

They cannot be reasoned with. Their worldview is absolute, regardless of reality. They have a mental disease. Al Gore and Obama could be narcissists.

While sociopaths are only around 2% of the general population, narcissists are much more numerous.

Science is an ongoing enterprise whose conclusions are necessarily always open to reevaluation and revision, even to wholesale rejection.

The only ´settled´ science is found at the bottom of a septic tank.

I agree w above poster. Nothing is settled in science. It´s ongoing & shifting. What we consider "junk DNA" may be way more important than we thought later on down the line.

Not even gravity is set in stone. Some scientific theories include lighter gravity before the cataclysm/great flood. That´s because of the footprints found being not deep enough, & the bones of the huge dinosaurs not being thick/strong enough to support their weight.

Someone in the Obama administration has let it be known that the US Embassy in Baghdad will henceforth be reinforced by less than 100 Marines. (Snip) It is obvious that 100 men — about two platoons of Marines — is much too small a reinforcement to defend the facility for more than a short period. Moreover, the Zone may soon come under mortar, rocket and other indirect fire if the enemy advances. Unless Maliki can stop the al-Qaeda advance, the Green Zone’s fall is a foregone conclusion. Meanwhile “the Obama administration has decided to hold any military intervention in Iraq

Although men of the left profess a certain admiration for the spontaneous, unspoiled qualities of third world men, there is one iron rule they always observe. Never take them at their word. If for instance they say, “Islam will rule the world,” why, it must be a joke. If a third world regime declares it is acquiring nuclear weapons to conjure the return to earth of the 12th Imam the same rule applies. Believe them in all things, such as for example any complaint or accusation they might have against America, but disbelieve them in any threat they might make against you. Thus when the current leader of the al-Qaeda affiliated group now

Andrew McCarthy lays much of the blame for the disaster in Iraq on George Bush, whose greatest mistake he argues was lacking a clear vision of who the enemy was. Bush refused to see the problem was radical Islam. Instead of focusing on destroying it, Bush futilely tried to reform it. Failing that, he put a faction in power hoping it would ‘evolve’ as time passed. But as McCarthy implies, no evolution was forthcoming and the disaster was compounded by Obama. (Snip) Obama took the alternative strategic route of denying that Islam was a problem in need of reform; rather

Contractors are being flown out Iraq, according to the Washington Post, to remove them from the line of advance of ISIS. The al-Qaeda affiliate is well known for its practice of decapitating captives, a practice which prompted a warning from Ayman Zawahiri. According to the Economist, Zawahiri felt the habit of posting such atrocities on video was giving al-Qaeda a bad name. It contains what is probably a huge intelligence facility. “The

In accepting the support of Equality Florida Action PAC and the Washington-based Human Rights Campaign, Crist pledged to pressure Florida´s Republican attorney general, Pam Bondi, to stop fighting a lawsuit seeking to overturn the same-sex marriage ban voters approved in 2008 by 62 percent. To understand the advance of ISIS in Iraq it may be necessary to go back to Benghazi, because Iraq is connected to Syria and Syria may be connected to events in Libya. (Snip) What makes Benghazi such dynamite is the outre chance that ISIS was somehow armed and supported in the first place by the Obama administration or its allies in a cockamamie scheme to advance the Arab Spring. In which case the ISIS offensive in Iraq is a supersized version of the Benghazi consulate treachery. The Revenge of Frankenstein. Ernest Hemingway observed that people went broke gradually at first then all of a sudden. Barack Obama’s career, for so long without visible means of support, has now moved onto the “all of sudden stage” of bankruptcy. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, an al-Qaeda affiliated front of Muslims, have followed up their lightning seizure of Mosul by taking Tikrit, the former stronghold of Saddam Hussein. (Snip) Superficially Brat’s positions are not that much different from Cantor’s, except that they are less nuanced. But this contest was not decided on policy. It was decided on the question of governance. It was about ‘who decides’. It’s no longer about what ‘what is your position on tax credits’. It’s now about ‘whose side are you on?’ The biggest reason Cantor lost is probably because he’s an incumbent. The natives are restless. They are tired

Frederich Hayek identified the primary reason why tyrants fall: they rely on the poisoned cup of centralized knowledge. In the essay The Use of Knowledge in Society, Hayek argued that in complex systems “the relevant facts are dispersed among many people”. The problem with the Narrative is that it suppresses the “dispersed information” by insisting on the centralized knowledge, on stories the elite make up themselves. Central planning in economics leads to a mismatch in prices and a collapse in the economy while a Central Narrative in politics leads to an increased incidence of involuntary rebellion. This occurs when the

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – It´s perhaps appropriate that President Barack Obama is vacationing this weekend in California, where the state flag features a roaming grizzly. The restless president, who has compared himself to a caged animal on recent wanderings by declaring the "bear is loose," took a long Father´s Day weekend away with his wife and older daughter. The visit to the desert resort area of Palm Springs is one of the ways Obama has been trying to escape during his sixth year cloistered in the White House. ISIS, the brutal insurgent/terrorist group formerly known as al Qaeda in Iraq, has seized much of western and northern Iraq and even threatens towns not far from Baghdad. From where did ISIS spring? One of George W. Bush´s most toxic legacies is the introduction of al Qaeda into Iraq, which is the ISIS mother ship. If this wasn´t so tragic it would be supremely ironic, because before the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, top Bush officials were insisting that there was an al Qaeda-Iraq axis of evil. Their claims that Saddam Hussein´s men were training members of al Qaeda how to

Anaheim, CA - President Obama, appearing emboldened after his recent move to cut carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants, on Saturday ridiculed members of Congress who deny climate change or plead scientific ignorance as an alibi for avoiding an uncomfortable truth.
