Will Apple technology prevent
citizens from videotaping cops?

FOX Chicago, by Staff

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - With smartphones now having high definition video recording quality, cops are more regularly getting into trouble with breaking the law. Throughout the country, police enforcement is attempting to pass laws that would make it illegal to record them while they’re working. In conjunction with that, Apple will soon release new technology that would put the power of turning on and off a phone’s video recorder into law enforcement’s hands, according to a report.

Comments:
Apple will collect millions in your taxpayer money from law enforcement agencies across the country who will ´´rent´´ this service. Meanwhile Apple does nothing about preventing texting while driving.

If they are doing nothing wrong why would they care whether they are videotaped or not? Seems to me it´s a 2 way street of protecting both police and public, unless the police are out of control.

My tax dollars pay their salaries. If I want to video them while they´re on the job, that´s my call, not theirs. And if they´re behaving like power-hungry better-than-the-rest-of-the-little-people thugs, I´ll record it and post it for all to see.

If Apple prevents me from doing that, I´ll buy an Android product. Nah, I´m just kidding. I´d just jailbreak the Apple product and record it anyway.

Only a thug would not a citizen to be able to record them in the performance of their tax payer funded duties. If they are following the law they have nothing to fear.

And while we are at it only a criminal wears a mask.

I´m will all the above. If they are doing a good job, nothing to hide.

Recently had some EMTs/first responders to my house. They were terrific. If I had it on digital, would have put on Youtube, deserve the praise.

First of all, I don´t believe this story one bit.

It stinks like a whorehouse at high tide (hat tip, Sean Connery).

Imagine the lawsuits Apple would face if they shut off cell transmission during an emergency when someone was shot, or dying, or in trouble close by.

Apple would face insurmountable lawsuits.

My guess is some fool has likely made an app which simulates some thing like this.

If it ever comes to this, simply do what I do. Carry a small Sony Bloggie with you. For $69 you get hi-def, point and shoot, light, compact, interfaces to anything with a USB, takes great pictures too, smaller than the phone. And no one can ever shut it off except you.

Soon, practical, cheap cameras will be the size of your finger and your biggest problem will be losing them. They will not be detectible.

Why shouldn´t cops be videotaped? If they are doing their jobs, they shouldn´t mind.

911 calls are taped--what´s next, operators not wanting the calls taped?

At a time when our local law enforcement becomes more militarized and careless, they too need to be held accountable. Citizens have the right to protect themselves and their loved ones. A video is not a weapon, and a citizen has the right to point a camera wherever they please.

A police state for thee, but not for me.
LEOs and scum politicians are always saying
"If you´re not doing anything wrong,
you have nothing to be afraid of!"

Now everywhere one goes, one is under constant surveillance.

And the police want an exemption?
From the very police state they are erecting?

Don´t make me laugh!

Are all convenience stores to shut off their security cams because one of the privileged just happens to walk by?

For every LEO camera pointed at the public,
two pointed back at them.

For their own "safety".

When U.S. combat deaths drop to zero

The United States has been at war in Afghanistan longer than any conflict in our history. Regardless of what one might think of the war in terms of strategic value, it has been a brutal, deadly conflict, seemingly without end. But as U.S. forces prepare for the conflict’s end, we can already see the changes to U.S. casualty rates. Indeed, the month that just ended last night, March 2014, marked an extraordinary milestone: as Hayes Brown noted, it was “the first time in more than a decade that there were zero U.S. fatalities among American troops engaging in combat.” In Iraq, the

The Bay Area Toll Authority spent $9.4 million to build a temporary entrance so the Bay Bridge´s bike path could be ready when the new eastern span opened to traffic in September. And now - after less than seven months - the half-mile-long connector is being torn down to make way for a new, permanent gateway. That puts the cost to provide temporary bike and pedestrian access to the bridge at about $47,000 a day.

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
