Downplaying Jihadism
American Spectator, by George Neumayr

Original Article

President Obama’s aversion to any perceived “war on Islam” has consistently led his administration to downplay the problem of jihad. Its outrage over the abductions of hundreds of young women in Nigeria by the jihadist organization Boko Haram hasn’t changed that stance. The State Department is still reluctant to make mention of Boko Haram’s Islamic character. Under Hillary Clinton, the State Department hesitated to label the group even a terrorist organization, despite its long catalogue of terrorist acts. This reticence came at a time when Obama officials had no problem accusing Christians of waging a “war on women” for merely resisting

Comments:
Over at Media Matters, they´re incensed that Fox continues to call Boko Haram terrorists.

It has become impossible to deny that Obama is a muslim - and anti-American.

Last week, I wrote about Meriam Ibrahim, the pregnant Christian woman sentenced to death by Judge Abbas Mohammed al-Khalifa in Khartoum for the crime of "apostasy". Before she dies, she´ll receive a bonus 100 lashes for "adultery". Being a merciful man, His Honor announced he would let the convicted criminal give birth to her child before he hanged her. Today, in a filthy, disease-ridden Sudanese prison Meriam was delivered of a baby girl, whom she has named Maya. I have described Meriam as, de facto, an "American-in-waiting". That´s to say, the grant of citizenship to the spouse of an American is essentially

Great lives, fully lived, cast long shadows. Fifty years after his death, it’s not unusual to hear people rank Douglas MacArthur among America’s worst generals—alongside Benedict Arnold and William Westmoreland. His critics say he was insubordinate and arrogant, callous in dealing with dissent, his Korean War command studded with mistakes. “MacArthur could never see another sun, or even a moon for that matter, in the heavens, as long as he was the sun,” once said President Eisenhower, who had served under MacArthur in the Pacific. Some of what the critics say is undoubtedly true, but much of what they say

VA Expects To Have More Medical-

The Obama administration’s Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) expects to have more money for medical care than it can spend for the fifth fiscal year in a row, The Daily Caller has learned. Republican lawmakers and veteran groups are currently calling for the resignation of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki over secret waiting lists kept at the Phoenix VA Medical Center that led to preventable veteran deaths. Despite liberal claims that VA needs more funding, based on a report from the labor union the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) that VA is underfunded, the scandal-plagued department actually has a surplus

The expletives were flying during a ceremony for wounded warriors at the vice president´s residence on Memorial Day. And while the strong language wasn´t directed at anyone in particular, the event featured pointed comments—and some poignant comments—about veterans and the failures of the Obama administration to make good on the country´s promises to them. Shortly after 8:00 a.m. Monday, a group of more than 200 bicycle riders departed the Sheraton National Hotel in Arlington, Virginia for the short ride to the Naval Observatory in Northwest Washington. The riders were in town to kick off the 7th Memorial Challenge, a week-long bike

Will Obama´s 10,000 Troops in

The Pentagon prevailed this week in a fight over how many U.S. forces will fight in Afghanistan past 2014. But will 9,800 troops be enough to keep a resurgent al Qaeda out? President Obama is poised to keep nearly 10,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan until at least 2016. Some top intelligence and military officers now fighting that war say the number of troops under consideration by the White House should be just enough to prevent al Qaeda from re-establishing a safe haven. Others aren’t so sure that 9,800 troops can keep the terror group and its allies at bay. The

Since stepping down as Secretary of State, fifteen months ago, Hillary Clinton has kept a calculated distance from the press and the public. She has been working on a memoir about her years at the State Department, “Hard Choices,” to be published in early June; making occasional speeches, often for a fee said to exceed two hundred thousand dollars; and talking with close advisers about a possible second Presidential run. Despite the absence of a story, the media can’t stop discussing her. The mainstream press recycles talking points concerning her hypothetical campaign while casting about desperately for something new: Will

WASHINGTON — At the age of 91, Rep. Ralph Hall insists he still has a lot to offer in Congress. The Texas Republican talks about wanting to fix Obamacare and fight the regulations of the Environmental Protection Agency that are killing jobs. But his vision for the future isn´t what is at issue in Tuesday´s runoff as Hall seeks renomination to the House seat he first won in 1980. The main topic is Hall himself and whether the oldest man serving in Congress should be elected to an 18th term. "I´m the hardest worker in politics you ever saw," Hall said. "I still

ROME - Pope Francis on Monday said he believed that Roman Catholic priests should be celibate but the rule was not an unchangeable dogma, and "the door is always open" to change. Francis made similar comments when he was archbishop of Buenos Aires but his remarks to reporters on a plane returning from a Middle East trip were the first he has made since becoming pope. "Celibacy is not a dogma," he said in answer to a question about whether the Catholic Church could some day allow priests to marry as they can in some other Christian Churches. "It is a rule of

Okay, I admit that I made up the above headline. But, if Nancy Pelosi can blame the VA scandal on George Bush, why can’t I accuse him of shooting JFK? No evidence? Well, if such accusations must be supported by facts, Pelosi would do well to stop braying about Bush. If you compare his actual record on the VA to that of alleged President Obama, the latter will not thank you for it. As is the case with income inequality, fighting HIV/AIDS, and countless other issues, Bush has a better record on the VA than does his feckless successor. Don’t

Harry Reid’s ‘nuclear’
miscalculation on filibusters
Washington Times, by Editorial    Original Article

Harry Reid thought he was being clever when he rewrote the standing rules of the Senate to strip Republicans of their ability to block certain presidential nominees. This was called “the nuclear option,” and it was meant to clear the way for liberals to push through their agenda unimpeded. At Mr. Reid’s urging and on straight party-line votes, Senate Democrats set aside tradition and severely curtailed the ability of senators to filibuster nominations and appointments to lower courts and executive branch positions. This “nuclear option” tipped the scales of power to favor the White House, enabling President Obama to make

The U.S. government accidentally named the top spy in Afghanistan on a memo given to reporters accompanying President Barack Obama on a surprise visit Sunday to Kabul. The memorandum included an individual named as ‘Chief of Station,’ the title given to the top CIA officer in a given country. It was immediately retracted, and a new memo was issued without the officer’s name. [Snip] U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan James B. Cunningham and 14 other were also named on the memo, including several military officials, according to the Post. They were all identified as having being included in a meeting with

One government agency has decided that the results of employee ratings are too discriminatory, and eliminated the process entirely. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced on Monday that it will now award all employees the highest rating regardless of performance reviews. The CFPB, which oversees transactions in the financial sector for the federal government, decided to no longer conduct employee reviews because there were just too many apparent “significant disparities” between the races, ages, and locations of its employees. According to American Banker, this new policy is set to cost over $5 million

An on air conversation between CNN´s John King and Politico´s Maggie Haberman relied primarily on feedback from his fellow Democrats to portray an image of an "incompetent" Obama, seemingly not all that involved with the mechanisms of big government central to so many of the Democrat´s political arguments. First Lady Michelle Obama is moving to quell the revolt against the school meal nutrition standards that she helped set in place. House Republicans are supporting a measure that would allow some school districts to opt out of the standards—if they can prove that it is affecting their school budgets. In response, Michelle Obama is scheduled to meet with school leaders and experts on nutrition Tuesday to discuss the importance of federal regulation of school meals. The strict rules, passed in 2010, limit the amount of fat, calories, sugar, and sodium served during school meals and requires more whole grains. “Mrs. Obama will stress

The White House has launched an internal probe after its press office inadvertently outed the top CIA official in Afghanistan -- a national security blunder that could put that individual at risk. A spokeswoman with the National Security Council confirmed to Fox News that the White House chief of staff asked White House Counsel Neil Eggleston to “look into what happened” and make recommendations on “how the administration can improve processes and make sure something like this does not happen again.” The brief statement from the National Security Council was the first on-the-record comment made by the administration since the

Friday´s shooting rampage in California that left three people dead from gunfire and another three stabbed to death is again raising calls for Congress to revisit various shades of gun control legislation. But if other, more deadly recent high-profile shootings weren´t enough of a catalyst to spur change, election-year politics is sure to stop short any serious renewed efforts in the near-term. The Republican-led House has let the Democratic-led Senate wrestle over dealing with gun control since the December 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Give Barack Obama credit. He never claimed he had the executive experience many Americans feel is essential for a president. Go back to October 2006. There was much buzz that Sen. Obama, newly arrived in Washington, would run for the White House. "You´ve been a United States senator less than two years, you don´t have any executive experience. Are you ready to be president?" the late Tim Russert asked Obama on NBC."Well, I´m not sure anybody is ready to be president before they´re president," Obama responded. "You know, ultimately, I trust the judgment of the American people." That didn´t exactly

In the midst of the Veteran’s Administration scandal, has America forgotten that the U.S. military has a very special advocate who has worked tirelessly to help military families? And what a bang up job that woman has done. For years now, our very own First Lady has appeared on shows like Oprah and Nightline and broadcast her undying dedication to getting military families the multifaceted support they need – none of which she’s done, but that’s beside the point. One would think that after all the effort she’s invested, at some point the FLOTUS would have caught wind that military
