The Three B´s Haunting Hillary Clinton
National Journal, by Lucia Graves

Original Article

Hillary Clinton has come under fire recently for not identifying Boko Haram, the Nigerian Islamist rebel group responsible for the capture of more than 200 schoolgirls, as a foreign terrorist organization back when she was secretary of State. But John Campbell, who served as ambassador to Nigeria under George W. Bush, said on Fox News the criticism of Clinton is unfair. "Along with a good many other Nigerian experts at the time, we all opposed designation," Campbell explained to Chris Wallace regarding his time in the Bush administration. "We opposed designation because we don´t think that the legislation actually fits the situation

Time during the Bush administration was a lot different than Barry´s, who coddles every terrorist in sight.

Hillary´s biggest problem as a possible US president is that she´s a crook. The US has had crooked presidents before and survived, so it wouldn´t be the end of the world if she got in. It could be an improvement, as it´s generally better to have crooks in charge rather than Communists.

Every once in a while I will try to watch Bill O´Reilly. I can´t stand him but with nothing better on, I might watch a segment or two. Well, he started off last night defending Hillary. He actually said there was no reason for her to be paying attention to Libya. Well why not - she insisted the ambassador go there? I couldn´t change the channel fast enough. I guess BOR will make excuses for her like he did for Obama, in the hopes of all these big nonsense interviews.

Bill O´Reilly is no dope. He is, like Limbaugh, primarily an entertainer and if there is no controversial opinion, there is no audience. This is what they do. Listen to them for the fun of it, but never take them seriously.

I don´t understand why O´Reilly and Limbaugh are not to be taken seriously, but pandering politicians, MSM talking heads, musicians, and actors are. Their comments are anxiously awaited, and fawned over.

I am not a huge fan of O´Reilly´s opinions many times, but I am glad he is on the air, along with Limbaugh, Levin, Ingraham, and others. I learn more from one of them in an hour than I do any of the others in a lifetime.

Trying to dismiss them as entertainers that should not be listened to only reveals people´s fears about what they say and represent.

Forget Hobby Lobby—This
Case Could Wreck Obamacare

A federal appeals court might be on the verge of blowing a massive hole in the foundation of Obamacare. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit is expected to rule any day now in a lawsuit that aims to block the law´s insurance subsidies in more than half the country. If the challengers ultimately prevail, the Affordable Care Act´s complex framework could begin to unravel as millions of people lose financial assistance. For now, the stakes are a lot higher than the odds of success—challenges to the insurance subsidies have a 0-2 record in federal courts. But the pending D.C.

The San José Mine is situated inside a round, rocky, and lifeless mountain in the Atacama Desert, in Chile. Once every dozen years or so, a storm system sweeps across the desert, dropping a torrent of rain. When that happens, the dust turns to mud as thick as freshly poured concrete. Charles Darwin briefly passed through this corner of the Atacama in 1835. In his journal, he described the desert as “a barrier far worse than the most turbulent ocean.” In the deeper desert, miners are the only conspicuous living presence; they ride in trucks and buses to the mountains, which

The Health Care Waiting Game

ONE small consolation of our high-priced health care system — our $2.7 trillion collective medical bill — has been the notion that at least we get medical attention quickly. Americans look down on national health systems like Canada’s and Britain’s because of their notorious waiting lists. In recent weeks, the Veterans Affairs hospitals have been pilloried for long patient wait times, with top officials losing their jobs. Yet there is emerging evidence that lengthy waits to get a doctor’s appointment have become the norm in many parts of American medicine, particularly for general doctors but also for specialists. And that includes patients

Four weeks after D-Day, having fought fiercely for 28 consecutive days, American troops were still within eyeshot of the Normandy coast. They were already short of artillery rounds, but Gen. Omar Bradley didn’t care. The commander of U.S. ground forces was determined to send the enemy a message. And so, to mark U.S. independence on July 4, 1944, Bradley ordered every artillery piece in the American sector to fire one round at noon — in the enemy’s direction. The 1,600-gun salute sent German defenders ducking for cover along the front. This year marks the 70th anniversary of that campaign. For many, the “great

President Obama and his aides have repeatedly sought to dispel the rumors driving thousands of children and teens from Central America to cross the U.S. border each month with the expectation they will be given a permiso and allowed to stay. But under the Obama administration, those reports have proved increasingly true. The number of immigrants under 18 who were deported or turned away at ports of entry fell from 8,143 in 2008, the last year of the George W. Bush administration, to 1,669 last year, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement data released under a Freedom of Information Act request. Similarly, about

Reporters and commentators have been drawn to civil-war metaphors in describing the fight between the “establishment” and “tea party” wings of the Republican party for years now, and it has usually seemed overwrought. Then along came the shocking upset of House majority leader Eric Cantor in Virginia, followed by a Thad Cochran–Chris McDaniel Senate primary in Mississippi that was about as pleasant as the Battle of Chickamauga. The drama of these elections — Cantor’s defeat was literally historic, and Cochran’s victory will generate ill feelings for a long time to come — has obscured the larger story of the evolution of

Hillary Clinton weighed in on her 1975 legal defense of an accused child rapist on Saturday, her first comments on the case since it came under scrutiny following a Washington Free Beacon report last month. Clinton spoke in clinical, legal terms while explaining her defense of the rapist, who Clinton helped to avoid a lengthy prison term by relying on a technicality relating to the chain of evidence of his blood-soaked underwear, as well as arguing at the time that the 12-year-old victim may have exaggerated or encouraged the attack. “When you are a lawyer, you often don’t have the choice as

It did not take Hillary’s book fiasco to show she is no Obama. Hillary Clinton’s problems predate and far exceed her currently botched book tour. They extend to her relations with the Democratic base. If she cannot correct these, and quickly, she is likely to relive her 2008 humiliation at their hands. That Hillary Clinton’s book tour — ostensibly promoting Hard Choices, but really paving the way for a 2016 White House run — has been terrible goes without saying. What should not go without noticing is just how unlike Obama it is. In just weeks, Hillary has brought back the bad

Coaches know that there is nothing more dangerous for a sports team than retreating into passivity out of fear of making a mistake. Whether it is because of a desire to sit on a lead or because of nerves following a setback, failing to advance aggressively is almost always a strategic error. What is true in athletic competition is all too true in the life of nations. While imprudence is never good, excessive caution in the name of prudence or expediency can have grave consequences. With four months until Election Day, Republicans are as close to winning the Senate as they’ve been since losing it in 2006. Six months ago, the GOP path to the majority was narrower: Republicans essentially had to sweep seven races in states Barack Obama lost in 2012 but where Democrats currently hold seats. Unlikely, in other words. Now Republicans have more options. They’ve landed top recruits to take on first-term senators in New Hampshire and Colorado, nominated credible female candidates in open-seat contests in Michigan and Iowa, protected all of their incumbents from tea party challenges and thwarted more conservative candidates that

Here’s to hoping you enjoyed your long Independence Day weekend. I sure enjoyed mine, because it wasn’t until today that I looked past the touchy-feelgood headline numbers in the June jobs report. 288,000 new jobs and the unemployment rate dropped to 6.1%, the lowest it’s been since before the beginning of the Great Recession. Even the figures for April and May were unexpectedly revised upwards. Helping to keep that good mood humming along was the big increase in auto sales, which “shattered expectations.” Sales were so hot that even beleaguered GM, which in recent months has announced recalls for seemingly

President Obama has quietly promised Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren complete support if she runs for president — a stinging rebuke to his nemesis Hillary Clinton, sources tell me. Publicly, Obama has remained noncommittal on the 2016 race, but privately he worries that Clinton would undo and undermine many of his policies. There’s also a personal animosity, especially with Bill Clinton, that dates from their tough race six years ago. A former Harvard law professor and administration aide, Warren would energize the left wing of the Democrat Party just as Obama did against Clinton in 2008.
