26 Americans deployed to Nigeria to

Under pressure from a growing social media campaign, the White House said Monday that it is providing 26 U.S. personnel to the Nigerian government to help find more than 200 girls kidnapped four weeks ago by an Islamic terrorist group. White House press secretary Jay Carney said the administration has assembled a team of 17 Defense Department employees, five State Department officials and four FBI officials to aid in the search for the girls, who were taken last month. Many of the personnel were already in Nigeria, he said. “President Obama has directed his team to do everything it can

This is so pitiful it makes me want to cry.

“The opposition to allowing girls to get the education that they deserve is opposition to progress ...

If they believe that then why are we running from Afghanistan. Young women, girls will have no chance at education. Gays will once again be executed in the UN provided soccer stadium. These girls deserve a humane response. God put us on this earth to care for his children. A military response is what we should provide. Nigeria is leading the fight in Mali, to stem the tide of terror we unleashed in Libya. We should step up and take the fight to Boko Haram and eliminate them from the face of the earth.

I keep trying to grasp this story. But the Nigerian response, the US response, the media´s, in fact all the responses, just don´t make sense to me.

There is constant chatter about how Boko´s tough lot in life, poverty, an unfair government, and warming may somehow lead to kidnapping girls of a specific religion and killing the boys.

But by golly, we now have a team assembled and there.

Are the girls scattered by now?

These 26 guys probably have orders to surreptitiously kidnap 10 Nigerian girls apiece and then claim mission accomplished for Mooch and Jug-ears.

The federal government launched a major public relations campaign Wednesday to try to urge Central Americans not to send their children to the U.S. as illegal immigrants, vowing to press that message through radio ads and billboards in those countries and interviews with Spanish-language press in the U.S. The billboards tell parents it’s not true that their children can get papers signifying legal status in the U.S. — an attempt to push back against the prevailing belief among some in Central America that if they can cross the U.S. border, they can stay. “I thought it would be easy for

President Obama’s displeasure with gridlock in Washington — and with the Republicans he blames for it — has been rising for months. This week it has boiled over. From the Rose Garden to the Cabinet Room to near the Key Bridge in Georgetown, the president has signaled more than mere annoyance at the state of affairs at the halfway point of this year. His disdain for congressional Republicans has steadily increased; his disrespect for their tactics has hardened into contempt. The other day my wife Cindy came across a hand-written letter from her uncle, Frank Keaton, that was written to his parents on February 8, 1944. Mr. Keaton landed on Omaha Beach before D-Day, one of a preliminary group to secure an area for the medics. He held the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, Two Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart. Shot while crossing the Rhine, he refused to go back behind the lines because he did not want to leave his company (he was part of the “Old Hickory” Division). He survived the war. Nearly as much crude flowed from Texas as from Iraq, which was the second largest OPEC producer in April at about 3.2 million barrels per day, according to Bloomberg. The Obama administration’s just-released criminal complaint against the alleged mastermind of the Benghazi terrorist attacks provides a final contradiction to its own evolving explanations for what happened that day. The Justice Department’s indictment spells out a calculated conspiracy by Ahmed Abu Khatallah and associates to attack the U.S. diplomatic mission and CIA annex, which killed four Americans. The indictment might be viewed as a death knell for a theory that the attack resulted from a spontaneous protest against a U.S.-produced video. Now in custody, Khatallah was a commander of Ansar al-Sharia in Benghazi, a U.S.-designated terrorist group, and is himself deemed

The recent decision by an obscure administrative law board to cancel the Washington Redskins‘ trademark registrations came despite the fact the agency hadn’t received a single letter from a member of the public complaining about the team’s name, records show. The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, which is part of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, ruled last month that the name was disparaging to American Indians. The team is appealing that decision. Politicians, including President Obama, have waded into the team name controversy, with many saying the team should change its name. But despite widespread media attention and a

Supreme Court experts have been looking for the right word to describe the term’s record number of agree-not-to-disagree unanimous decisions: Faux-nimity? Un-unanimous? The number of rulings without dissent skyrocketed to rates not seen since the 1940s, and the court’s percentage of closely divided decisions dropped to a modern low. Such cases can mask deeper conflicts, and those were on display in the term’s finale this week. The decisions announced Monday showed that stark divisions — conservative opposed to liberal; Republican appointees on one side, Democratic ones on the other; even women vs. men — exist on the court beneath a frequent
