Voter Enthusiasm Down Sharply From 2010
Gallop, by Jeffrey M. Jones

Original Article

Posted By:mikkins2, 5/12/2014 8:23:07 PM

A majority of U.S. registered voters, 53%, say they are less enthusiastic about voting than in previous elections, while 35% are more enthusiastic. This 18-percentage-point enthusiasm deficit is larger than what Gallup has measured in prior midterm election years, particularly in 2010 when there was record midterm enthusiasm. Among registered voters, 42% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents currently say they are more enthusiastic than usual about voting, while 50% are less enthusiastic, resulting in an eight-point enthusiasm deficit. But Democrats are even less enthusiastic, with a 23-point deficit (32% more enthusiastic vs. 55% less enthusiastic).

Keep talking up immigration "reform" and "fixing" ObamaCare, GOP establishment & "leaders," and you´ll manage to depress your own turnout by November.

I can only speak for myself, but every solicitation from the RNC, RNCC, RNSC goes straight into the trash, calls from the DC area code go unanswered, and my disgust for the Republican party "elites" grows exponentially by the day.

When that drunken SOB Boehner went on a rant about opponents of immigration reform, I nearly had a stroke from rage.

I´ve voted in every election since I was 18, but I can see the day in the not-so-distant future when I won´t.

Another poll of registered voters. Why don´t they ask these "registered voters" when was the last time they voted? The answer to that should put some context on the results.

It´s difficult to be enthusiastic over the charade of elections where two parties are selling mildly different flavors of ruling class Kool Aid. When the most you can say about a candidate is that they are the first fill-in-the-blank to run for office, you´ve really hit the bottom of the barrel. Despite all the drama and the millions of man hours and billions of dollars spent, election results are always the same. Bigger government, more intrusive government, more oppressive government, more expensive government, more wasteful government, more corrupt government.

Quasi-lobbyist runs as earmarker

Washington Examiner, by Timothy P. Carney    Original Article

Former Rep. Todd Tiahrt is a man on a mission — to reclaim the Republican Party for earmarkers. Tiahrt represented Kansas´ 4th district for 16 years, and for 14 of those years he sat on the House Appropriations Committee. From that perch, Tiahrt was a prolific porker, dealing out earmarks as if they were playing cards. In 2010, when Sen. Sam Brownback stepped down to run for Governor, Tiahrt ran for the open Senate seat but lost the GOP primary to his House colleague Jerry Moran. Lawyer and businessman Mike Pompeo took Tiahrt's place. Now, Tiahrt wants his seat back and is challenging Pompeo in the 2014

At the eleven minute mark of this 15 minute interview, Kansas Senator Pat Roberts is reduced to a stumbling, bumbling pile of a 47 years in Washington incumbent who can´t manage to coherently explain why he doesn´t actually live in Kansas anymore. And perhaps the worst of it is when he admits that he does click his heels together to go back to Kansas on occasion .... seemingly only when he gets an opponent. Roberts may not have distinguished himself as that much of a wizard in D.C. over the years but if a slot opens up in Oz, perhaps Dorothy will consider him as a write in after hearing this embarrassing performance.

The New Aristocracy

In 1776 Americans declared themselves independent of more than arbitrary rule by a distant monarch. They also severed the ties of aristocracy. This was in itself a revolutionary notion. It meant that political power, its attendant privilege and economic advantages would no longer be transferred by the blood. Earldoms, dukedoms, and kingdoms were banished from the territory and from the future of the American people. The citizen became the self-identifying unit of self-rule. The generation of English colonists who gathered together in the summer of 1776 to declare their independence from the English crown knew that they had exhausted all other remedies.

It would be a lot easier for conservatives to tolerate the sanctimony of Republicans In Name Only (RINOs) if they weren’t so hypocritical — or in the case of Mississippi RINOs — despicably hypocritical. ‘Moderate’ Republicans never tire of telling us conservative extremists how they are inclusive and ready to reach across the aisle to get things done. While we are exclusive and alienate and people that disagree with us. Well the Sen. Thad Cochran campaign got things done in Mississippi all right and in the process of building their ‘big tent’ party the RINOs turned race–baiting 180 degrees. Formerly in Mississippi and

With Dave Brat defeating House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Chris McDaniel receiving the plurality of the votes in the primary for Senate in Mississippi earlier this month it appeared to be reversed. The change was not publicly announced but was described in an instruction book available to lawmakers on how to fill out the forms. Legislators will still have to report details about their travel on the House clerk´s website, which is less commonly monitored by reporters, watchdog groups and others than the financial disclosure reports. That information is publicly available and is far more specific than the one line that -- until now -- they have provided on their

As of March 2014, Obama has spent more time traveling internationally than any other president, taking 31 trips since assuming office in 2009. The 119 days spent overseas have

President Obama has quietly promised Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren complete support if she runs for president — a stinging rebuke to his nemesis Hillary Clinton, sources tell me. Publicly, Obama has remained noncommittal on the 2016 race, but privately he worries that Clinton would undo and undermine many of his policies. There’s also a personal animosity, especially with Bill Clinton, that dates from their tough race six years ago. A former Harvard law professor and administration aide, Warren would energize the left wing of the Democrat Party just as Obama did against Clinton in 2008.
