GOP goes quiet on ObamaCare
The Hill [Washington, DC], by Elise Viebeck*

Original Article

House Republicans have no scheduled votes or hearings on ObamaCare, signaling a shift in the party’s strategy as the White House rides a wave of good news on the law. Not a single House committee has announced plans to attack the healthcare law in the coming weeks, and only one panel of jurisdiction commented to The Hill despite repeated inquiries. GOP campaign committees also declined to say whether they will launch any new efforts on the law. The lack of action highlights the GOP’s struggle to adjust its message now that enrollment in the exchanges beat projections and the uninsured rate is

The first ads from the Chamber of Commerce focus on jobs and not Obamacare? In case those idiots didn´t notice Obamacare is destroying jobs!! I fear we are going to be extremely disappointed with the behavior of the GOP leading up to the elections.

Did I miss something? Where is the good news? Where is the WAVE of good news? All I hear about is more and more failed exchanges, people dying, going to Mexico, outrageous waste fraud and abuse, and on and on? Is that the "good news" she is talking about?

The GOP leadership has no intention of trying to repeal Obamacare.

The GOP leadership has every intention of passing amnesty.

Go team GOP! Rah, Rah, Rah!

The House leadership needs to go NOW (Boehner, McCarthy, Cantor, etc). The prior votes to repeal it was a joke and Boehner did not have the guts to defund it.

I remember when a certain Senator from Texas wanted to "shut-down" the federal government and Boehner, McConnell, McCain, Graham, McCarthy, and Cantor were saying, "No! No! No! We need to focus on Obamacare."

Looks like the mono-taskers have moved on to another mono-task--probably dictated by Rove.

7 months after launch and the back end of the web site isn´t finished. We don´t know who is qualified for subsidies. We don´t know if the patients have found doctors who will take the payments. I suspect most people haven´t yet discovered what a deductible means. If I were in Congress, I would continue to ask questions but would let this sore fester a while longer.

The GOP made clear long ago they´re very happy with ObamaCare. Since Jan. 2011 John Boehner has refused to allow a standalone up or down vote to defund ObamaCare to come to the floor. The House has 100% authority on finances, can´t be vetoed by Senate or White House. Some in GOP in an attempt to get us to leave them alone have claimed O´care is ´mandatory spending´ but of course there´s no such thing. Andrew Breitbart might not have worked himself to death to give the GOP House a huge majority if he´d known what the GOP had planned for this country. The Chamber of Comm. and GOP want the same things the radical left wants.

Nah, #6, I think it was Fearless Ted Cruz who wasn´t afraid of shutting the Federal Gov´t down. The French Republicans were afraid, very afraid. They are inept messengers with big, fat egos, i.e., Collins, McCain, Graham, Cantor, McCarthy, Boehner, and the rest of the FR who are happy moving to the left. Put a camera in front of them and they will condemn anyone who is conservative.

When have the FR ever moved the country to the right? One instance? Silence from all who read this means there have been none. Meaningless votes to "repeal" Obamacare don´t count.

It is the pattern of GOP leadership to never do anything bold and active NOW. They are always keeping their powder dry, waiting for a more opportune time which somehow never comes, or remember this one, winning by getting underestimated -- Those who still cling to the hope that Boehner and company will actually move to repeal Obamacare are dreaming.

The United States has evacuated most of its personnel from the Embassy in Baghdad and dramatically stepped up security for those who remain as thousands of Islamic fighters bear down on Iraq´s capital city. Some 5,500 people work in the massive Embassy complex in the heavily-fortified Green Zone in Baghdad. Many will be airlifted to Amman, Jordan, and others will be sent to consulates in Basra, in the south, and Erbil, in the Kurdish north. Other workers will remain in Baghdad. President Obama has faced low job-approval ratings for much of his presidency. In the current RealClearPolitics average of polls, his job-approval is currently 42%. According to Gallup, Obama´s job-approval has never averaged more than 48% in each of his last four years in office. A new survey from Gallup, however, shows Obama crossing a threshold from which presidents don´t rebound. Obama´s personal approval ratings are now underwater. Gallup notes: Americans´ views of President Barack Obama as a person have turned slightly negative, with 47% saying they have a favorable opinion of him and 52% an unfavorable one.
