Michael Sam and boyfriend Vito Cammisano partied Saturday night away in Las Vegas after the 24-year-old became the first openly-gay football player selected in the NFL draft. (Snip) Don Jones of the Miami Dolphins tweeted ´OMG´ and ´HORRIBLE´ after Sam was chosen, and was hit with an undisclosed fine for the homophobic remark on Sunday. ´We were disappointed to read Don´s tweets,´ Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said in a statement. ´They were inappropriate and unacceptable, and we regret the negative impact these comments had on such an important weekend for the NFL. We met with Don today about respect, discrimination

Comments:
Great. Now the NFL is pro-homo and will punish any of their players should they express normal disgust at a perversion.

A guy who plays in a blood sport has to worry about hurting the feelings of another guy who plays in a blood sport? Really? If he breaks his bone in a game does someone have to kiss it and make it better?

I´ve been a big fan of the Dolphins over the years. My distant cousin, Monte Clark, was their offensive coordinator during the perfect season heyday! But, my support comes to a halt today!

And so it begins... The boy toy will be a whiner and complainer from here on out. I believe the Rams was told to draft him or else. Watch the refs be very careful about how he is handled and penalized. Soon it will be "pink flag" football. The media has started their harassment of straight players already.

It is sad when the flaming in-your-face types like Sam and his little barnacle get all the publicity. There are thousands of homosexual men living quiet worthwhile lives. Away from the cameras and the media hype.

Sam seems to be a very deliberate kind of guy. Making his own statement and whining about how he "shoulda" been chosen much earlier. Let´s see how his football playing works out with the Rams....

Sam will be a preseason statistic, an also ran.

Sam´s talent is not NFL material, and the straight players will have their shot at him in preseason.

Sam will be relegated to bubble gum card status as an unknown player.

It getting impossible to find a TV show that doesn´t pander to the LGBTQ crowd with gay characters or a gay story line. I noticed more and more gay couples showing up in HGTV episodes.

Forgive me, but I wasn´t riveted to the television for the entire NFL draft week. I have to ask, though: Do the cameras always wait around until the 249th pick is made in order to catch his reaction upon getting the phone call? Were they parked next to Ahmad Dixon (Who?) when Dallas selected him with the 248th pick?

Here´s are two great discussion points:

If Don Jones, for whatever reason, saw a teammate and a woman smooching, and said "OMG horrible", would he have been fined?

If Don Jones was gay, and saw a teammate he thought was gay as well and a woman smooching, and said "OMG horrible", would he have been fined?

Re #12: I think that is giving the league too much credit. He´s already whining that he was drafted too low. The Gaystapo won´t permit him to be cut. The NFL will likely fine the Rams if they don´t make him a starter.

I´m guessing the Rams Center is happy that Sam the Ram isn´t a quarterback.

The only reason he declared gay is that he had a horrible NFL tryout camp and he was probably advised the NFL would have to draft him if he came out. This makes him almost a sure thing.

If Sam has trouble breaking into the Ram´s defensive lineup, maybe he could move to the offensive side -- might be an excellent tight end.

#15, extra attention given because of the his pre-draft declaration. While the NFL may or may not have applied some influence to someone at the end of the draft to select him, it would have been most normal for him to be drafted by either St. Louis or Kansas City as both teams and local media were aware of Sam´s status well before his self-outing. Closest teams to where he played in college and he had announced to his teammates at Mizzou at the beginning of the season so it wasn´t a surprise in our area.

The acceptance at the college level is one thing, I disagree about having his way paved for him at the pro level. When many higher round draft picks get washed out or don´t make the cut in training camp or pre-season
he´ll have to earn his spot.

Smart move by Sam coming out of the closet. Probably got him drafted by the NFL as a sop to the GayLesbianVampireAliance. Will also assure that he doesn´t get cut. Kind of like an athletic affirmative action.

It´s a safe guess that more people agree than not with Don Jones who was " hit with an undisclosed fine for the homophobic remark on Sunday".

It was disgusting behavior - by Michael Sam and his "boyfriend", and by Miami Dolphin´s management for fining Don Jones for expressing his opinion about the behavior.

As to fearing homosexuality, I fear for those who practice it.

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. “Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security.
