Obama adds solar panels to White House,
pressing his support for green energy

Associated Press, by Staff

Technicians have finished installing solar panels on the White House roof, capping a project that President Obama hopes will send a signal that renewable energy is feasible and environmentally shrewd. Obama said in 2010 that he would retrofit his family´s new home with solar panels starting in 2011, then use the power generated to heat water for the first family and provide some electricity. But the project remained dark until late 2013, when the installation finally started. Citing security and other concerns, the White House won´t say how many panels now encase the top of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. or how much they cost. The

Comments:
Because of security reasons they wont´ tell us how much this cost?? Another outrage from this regime!! It´s outrageous that you have to go through the courts with FOIA filings to get information from this criminal regime. The real shocker is these panels provide enough energy for two light bulbs! I really want to meet anyone who is impressed, influenced by or applauds tacky approval-seeking desperation like this...

...so I can avoid them in public places including the highway.

Deja vu all over again. The last preezy to do this was Jimmah Carter. Gawd, I wish America had elected Romney in 2012 and made Nobama a one-term mistake, like Carter.

One of the first things President Reagan did was have those solar panels removed.

Dimmy´s panels were for hot water. Zip´s are for electricity. Water ones degrade easily and are hard to maintain. Electric ones start going bad as soon as they are put in service but they just get weaker with time instead of leaking all over the roof.

The system the WH has is 6.5kW. This works out to an average of about 1900 watts per hour, given 7 hours of usable sunlight per day per year. This is a respectable system that I would love to have the taxpayers install on my house. Probably barely offsets the WH power usage.

Please notice that this was done at the start of summer.

They didn´t do it when the White House roof was hip deep in snow. Not a good photo op then.

Those articles that had the low number of hours and small bulbs were very flat out wrong.
1900 watts per hour times 24 times 365 is a lot. 6500 watts per HOUR in full sun for however long that is. This system is 3 or 4 times what an average house would need, probably a lot less than the WH uses.
I think the mistake was that some thought it was 6500 watts per DAY.

Virtually every key House Republican, from Speaker John Boehner on down, has vowed to oppose a conference committee with the Senate´s immigration bill passed last year. And lawmakers working to craft legislation to address the tens of thousands of children streaming across the southern U.S. border say it won´t touch citizenship for illegal aliens, increased visas, or any other topics than border security. But a key veteran of the immigration wars on Capitol Hill is warning that legislation to amend a 2008 law being cited for cumbersome, years-long deportations would theoretically open the door to a conference committee on the controversial

HOUSTON, Texas--Despite the border crisis that involves more than 1,000 illegal immigrants entering the country each day, Texas Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee apparently believes the U.S.-Mexico border is "under control." On MSNBC she recently said, "I disagree it is in devastating condition. I think with now 21,000 border patrol agents it is under control." She added that Border Patrol agents told her that "they are able to do their job, even though they had been called into service to change diapers and make formula."

President Obama’s defiant emphasis on executive action reveals a larger failure looming for his legacy: His inability to work with Republicans means that he’s unlikely to score even one significant legislative achievement over the final years of his presidency. Unless Democrats win back the House and hold onto the Senate in November, a scenario dismissed by most political analysts, Mr. Obama has said goodbye long ago to his biggest accomplishments in Congress. They occurred back in 2010, when Democrats controlled the House and Senate, and Mr. Obama signed into law Obamacare, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform act and a two-year extension

A prominent law professor and avowed supporter of the Obama White House will tell the House on Wednesday that the president has created one of the biggest constitutional crises in the country’s history and will endorse House Republicans’ effort to sue to rein him in. Jonathan Turley, a professor at George Washington University, will say President Obama is trampling the founders’ vision for the country in his push to circumvent Congress, and he will demand Republicans and Democrats alike forget their party labels to unify against this White House’s power grab. “What we are witnessing today is one of the

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., on Tuesday blamed last October´s government shutdown on Republicans wanting to deny women access to birth control. No really. Warren said this on the Senate floor while defending the Democrats´ deceptively titled “Women´s Health Protection Act.” “Remember last year´s government shutdown that nearly tanked our economy?” Warren asked. “That fight started with a GOP effort to hold the whole operation of the federal government hostage in order to try to force Democrats and the president to let employers deny workers access to birth control.” Um, no, sorry. The government shutdown occurred over a continuing resolution to fund the government

News 12 New Jersey reporter Sean Bergin has reportedly been suspended for comments he made on-the-air Sunday evening about the black community. After reporting on a suspect in the fatal shooting of Jersey City police officer Melvin Santiago, Bergin told his viewers that News 12 was “besieged” with phone calls from police officials “furious that we would give media coverage to the life of a cop killer.” Those complaints were “understandable,” Bergin said. “We decided to air it because it’s important to shine a light on the anti-cop mentality that has so contaminated America’s inner cities.” He then made the

Conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer isn’t so sure Democratic Sen. Harry Reid is on his medication. Krauthammer speculated on Reid’s mental health on “Special Report with Bret Baier” Tuesday night. The panel, including Baier and Fox News contributor Mara Liasson, was discussing the influx of illegal immigrants — mostly women and children — flooding over the southern border. Liasson explained that President Obama has always said he “wanted the flexibility to treat kids from Central America the same as Mexico” but never explicitly asked Congress to change the Bush-era 2008 sex trafficking law. “He wanted Congress to go first,” she said.

WICHITA, Kan. — Moderate Republicans have been kicked around by the tea party for years in Congress and the states. Here in Kansas, they’re fighting back. A moderate GOP uprising is in full swing against Gov. In a rare and surprising act of political defiance on Tuesday, more than 100 Republicans, including current and former officeholders, endorsed Brownback’s opponent, statehouse Democratic leader Paul Davis.
