Did Forbidden Science Cost 30 Year

Although nobody is speaking on the record, it appears as though a veteran science writer and editor at the New York Times has lost his job because he published a book about genetics and sub-Saharan Africans. No topic is more sensitive than genetic questions regarding the anomalous statistical phenomena regarding sub-Saharan Africans, at home and in the diaspora. Chris Reed of the Daily Caller: Nicholas Wade, a British-born science reporter and editor for more than 30 years with The New York Times, is no longer with the newspaper — just days after the release of his latest book, in which

It is what it is. These days, apparently one can get crucified for speaking a reasonably justifiable (non PC) opinion.

I long for the days when actual merit meant something.

Liberalism is both a mental illness and a cult. All ideas must be approved by the leadership. Following the evidence is much too dangerous and leads to impure thoughts.

"Western" civilization is in decline because we have abandoned our commitment to following the evidence.

"Magical Thinking" is so much more comfortable.

I would argue that liberals have a core belief that blacks are inferior to all other races. Their fanatical support of affirmative action as a non-ending policy with no time limit or final success metric overtly assumes that blacks are inherently incapable of being held to the same standards as all other races and therefore must permanently be treated as inferior beings dependent on the government for every day necessities of life. And furthermore, almost all black leaders seem to agree.

What other reason could possibly counter that?

As Dr. William Shockley (co-inventor of the transistor) pointed out (to the destruction of his reputation) regarding his study of eugenics and race: there is a small but measurable difference among the races (about 5% in the mean - asians, then whites, then blacks). Is it genetic or cultural - or both?

Regardless, such differences can be overcome by hard work and determination. Many have done it. Remember the bell-shaped curves. Those at the high end of the curve with a lower mean can still perform better than those at the low end of the curve with the higher mean. Factors like effort, peer pressure, and other life experience move individuals up or down a given curve.

That should encourage us all. Get to work!!

In some ways the action of the NYT against their editor are at best puzzling. The NYT has long supported affirmative action, and affirmative action says minorities cannot effectively compete with the majority. Hence the minorities must be treated differently and by separate standards to achieve racial diversity. Once we have racial diversity, everything becomes perfection.

So why attempt to destroy Nicholas Wade for researching and writing about issues that support the need for affirmative action in the US, and the world?

They probably didn´t even understand what he was trying to say. From the review of Wade´s book at Publishers Weekly::

He argues persuasively that such differences exist and that they have been “ignored by academics and policy makers for fear that such inquiry might promote racism.” But, Wade argues, the essence of racism is an assertion of superiority of one race over the others, while the recognition that genetic differences lead to behavioral tendencies provides no such value judgment. His conclusion is both straightforward and provocative: “the most significant feature of human races [is] not that their members differ in physical appearance but that their society’s institutions differ because of slight differences in social behavior.”

A read of the article all the way to the bottom reveals that Nicholas Wade took a retirement buyout package (as did other NYT Staffers, listed in article linked below) in 2011. Wade´s blurb on the list:

Nicholas Wade, Science reporter/editor, a 29-year veteran of the Times. Mr. Wade held stints at the paper both as a writer on the editorial board and a seven-year stint as the editor of the paper’s Science section.

Read more at http://observer.com/2011/12/new-york-times-buyouts-leaked-12192011/#ixzz31Vcg7rME

And Wade, in his own words, in a conversation yesterday with blogger Luke Ford:

Nicholas: “[The book] is based on about a dozen articles I’ve written for the New York Times covering advances in genetics and in the course of that, I speak to the authors of the research, supporters and critics and get a feel for what scientists think in the field, and I supplement that with my further reading, and that is the background of the book.”

“I retired from the Times about two years ago. There’s a blogosphere story today that the Times didn’t like the book and fired me, but the writer invented the whole thing based on his having seen the words ‘former Science editor’ in the piece I did in Time.”

Progressivism is built on lies, lies so fundamental that they must be surrounded by a bodyguard of lies. Mr. Wade is just the latest victim by pushing truth through the lies threshold.
