New Jersey mayor fights feds over
prayer during citizenship ceremony

Fox News & Associated Press, by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 5/11/2014 2:32:19 PM

A New Jersey town canceled its ceremony celebrating new U.S. citizens after federal immigration officials would not allow the event to begin with a prayer. According to the Star-Ledger, Carteret Mayor Daniel Reiman had assured U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials that the prayer leading Saturday’s ceremony would be nondenominational. “They refused to budge on that,” Reiman said, the paper reported. The battle came just days after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that local government meetings can include sectarian prayers. Reiman and immigration officials each cited the high court’s opinion.

Comments:
See where our Country of immigrants is headed. Be very afraid of the current fed bullying, but don´t give up praying that enough like minded people vote to remove the ungodly from office this fall.

Marxist democrats cannot allow any reference to God in any many, shape, or form. It is against the oath they take when becoming Marxist communists. They (government) must destroy religion and drive it out of the vocabulary of the people if they (government) are to be their idol.

No, no, no, OP. As we have been told so many times before on this site, all that matters is whether they have an R after their name. It is better to vote for progressive, socialist, big government, liberal, one world, statist,s elitist republicans and hope for the best than only vote for those candidates that embody values that are good for the country. s/ It´s not that the republicans don´t have the right platform just that they don´t put forth enough candidates that embody those values.

Feds can be arrested by local/city governments.

Pick a charge! J-walking. Disturbing the peace. Driving too fast or too slow.
Just throw the bastids in the cooler.
A few accidental discharges by your local police during the arrest would also be helpful.
Do it enough times, and they will get the message.
THE FEDS HAVE NO JURISDICTION in Cartaret that you don´t give them.
Ther is NO FEDERAL POLICE (yet)

While I tolerate prayers at the start of a meeting, I don´t like it. It is fine if it is short but when it diverges into a sermon-ette of one particular brand of Christianity it is just plain rude.

Washington - As quickly as Boko Haram caught Washington by hashtag storm, the Nigerian terrorists — and their schoolgirl captives — have seemingly vanished from the radar of priorities, even as the al-Qaeda-linked group’s jihadi brothers-in-arms run roughshod across Iraq. One senator this week, though, charged that the administration never wanted the frightening growth of the North African terrorist organization to receive much attention in the first place. A senior U.S. defense official Friday said U.S. officials were seeing signs that Iranian fighters were engaged in Iraq. But it was not immediately clear how many troops were involved. "This is bad," the senior U.S. defense official told Fox News, adding that "there is not much we can do (militarily). We are way behind the curve." The official said people in the U.S. Embassy feel threatened, but it´s too "politically sensitive" to evacuate them right now. US President Barack Obama is not considering military action against al-Raqqa, Syria, the self-declared capital of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a US official tells The Jerusalem Post. "At the moment, the options being considered are focused on Iraq," the official said. "Of course, that could always change." The terrorist militia ravaging the sovereignty of Iraq is headquartered in Syria, where the group gained strength through the strife of the civil war there. The US is now considering military strikes against the group, two years after pulling troops from the country after nine years of war.

Chicago Police recorded about 1,335 murders from 2011 through 2013 – a majority in communities where residents have little education and money. While low educational attainment and high levels of poverty are associated with murder rates, some Chicago communities buck the trend. Of Chicago’s 77 communities, Austin has the most residents, and the most people living in poverty. It also had the most murders from 2011 through 2013 with 96. However, just because a community has a higher percentage of residents living in poverty doesn’t necessarily mean it will have a high murder total. The East Side and Logan Square

BOSTON — Once fearing he would be viewed as "a loser for life" if he failed to win the presidency, Mitt Romney is trying to re-emerge as a force in Republican politics. Romney has quietly sought kingmaker status in the GOP´s fight for the Senate majority this fall and its quest to retake the White House in 2016. The effort at revival is fueling whispers about a third presidential run. But those closest to Romney suggest he´s more interested in shaping party politics by lending his name and record-breaking fundraising machine to what he considers the next generation of electable conservatives.
