How to trick the guilty and gullible
into revealing themselves

Wall Street Journal, by Steven D. Leavitt*

King Solomon built the First Temple in Jerusalem and was known throughout the land for his wisdom. David Lee Roth fronted the rock band Van Halen and was known throughout the land for his prima-donna excess. What could these two men possibly have had in common? Well, both were Jewish; both got a lot of girls; and both wrote the lyrics to a No. 1 pop song ("Jump" in Mr. Roth´s case and, in Solomon´s, several verses from Ecclesiastes that appeared in the Byrds´ 1965 hit "Turn! Turn! Turn"). But most improbably, they both dabbled in game theory, as seen

The some members of the C-17 team did this as well during development. Halfway thru the dash one, where it talks about bailout and rescue systems they put a shark swimming in the water with the pilot.

The got a call from a general in the pentagon asking about it, and they told him that they did it to see if anyone was actually reading it. The general like the idea and told them to leave it in.

Politics? For sure. This article explains why we have Øbamacare. The guilty (liars) sold this scam as way to bring medical coverage (lie #1)to the 45 million (lie #2)uninsured.

To trick the guilty (Pelosi, Reid & Øbama) into revealing themselves, a strong incentive to these "uninsured" should have been proposed. The dems would have voted it down in a nanosecond.

In his famous short story The Sound of Thunder, Bradbury argued the present stood perched on the past. (Snip) Even if it were possible to change the past, Bradbury argues there is no guarantee that the resulting alternative future would be any better. Our task must to leave the world better than we found it, not to remake it from the foundations. That doesn’t mean the past is gone, but it lacks the special quality of activity. The dead are already costed into the present. They’ve set out the crib, screwed in the lightbulb, defeated Hitler; they were present at

TARPON SPRINGS — It took more than 50 days and intervention by U.S. officials for the six-man of crew of Aqua Quest to finally be freed from a jail in a remote port in Honduras. The captain of the Tarpon Springs salvage ship, Robert Mayne, says he feels lucky. “For us, it was a brutal, difficult, long, slow procedure. Our friends in Honduras told us it was lighting quick. They generally never move that quick,” said Mayne, who was jailed on May 5 along with his crew on charges of smuggling weapons in the port town of Puerto Lempira. Others

News that Quinnipiac poll finds president Obama is the “worst president since World War II” was greeted with amusement. (Snip) . But the real news is this: it’s not working any more. Even Obamacare might actually be repealed. Liberal foreign policy might really go down in flames. Already the authorities are warning of bombs on inbound airline flights. And Obama might actually be the worst president since World War 2. Things used to be under control; what happened? What happened wasn’t the Republican Party.

I have been staying with my parents recently, while my house is being renovated. I have also been breaking out in hives. (Snip) Experts use the term "social allergens" to describe behaviors or habits that drive others nuts. Some of these actions begin to annoy us soon after we meet someone. Others get to us slowly and surely over time. Imagine a heehaw laugher. A knuckle cracker. A braggart who always tries to one-up you. A person who thinks loud belching is a compliment to the chef. When Gerald Ford remarked that “a government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have” he might have been commenting on the Supreme Court Hobby Lobby decision which ruled 5-4 as the Washington Post reports: “that the arts-and-crafts chain does not have to offer insurance for four types of birth control that conflict with company owners’ religious beliefs.” Walter Russell Mead gets what is at issue. Beyond the narrow facts of the decision, the case itself underlines the unpleasantly large scope that government regulation now covers. Government, to

Robert Zubrin writes, in a National Review article, about a secret meeting between Western national socialist parties and the agent of Vladimir Putin. The venue is what you would expect: a James Bond like setting with mysterious billionaires in attendance. (Snip) From Obama’s point of view his main frustration must be his inability to match the expansionary efforts of his rivals. No wonder he hates the Republican Congress so; without their narrow minded obstruction he might already be a Herman von Rompuy. And who’s resisting the trend towards gigantism? Nobody but a ragtag UKIP here and tattered Tea Party there.

CARACAS, VENEZUELA – Already grappling with street protests led by the right, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is facing a new threat from an unlikely place: old-school leftists who accuse him of betraying the socialist legacy that carried him to power. Maduro was tapped by Hugo Chavez as his preferred successor to the presidency, and is quick to invoke the late leader´s name, but orthodox socialists are grumbling over liberalized currency reforms they say are counter to the revolution. The tensions came to a head last week when Maduro fired Planning Minister Jorge Giordani, a Marxist economist whose Spartan lifestyle and

It’s a scene straight out of fiction. Refugees from North Africa, packed like sardines in small boats are streaming in droves across the Med to Italy. Maybe we’ve been conned. There’s a growing recognition that Barack Obama is an incompetent poser, working out of his depth, and his administration is the gang that can’t shoot straight. There’s a lot of evidence to support that belief. Iraq, Syria, Egypt — all gone, as prospects for countries with a prosperous and democratic future. The “reset” with Russia, meant to ensure that America and the replacement republic of the old

President Obama has, except on fleeting occasions, routinely disdained the customary Oval Office language of compromise and coalition-building for the low arts of sophistry and belittlement. That was to be expected, given his background as a Chicago community organizer and product of that city´s corrupt Democrat political machine. But Obama has far exceeded dismal expectations. No previous American president employed the systematic distortion of fact and mendacious characterization of opponents that have typified Obama´s presidency. His "so sue me" speech last week is a classic illustration of the community organizer practicing Saul Alinsky´s 13th rule: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize

Oh, puhleez. While not a supporter of civilian trials for enemy combatants, I must admit there is something satisfying about the prosecution’s version of events laid out for all to see. The New
