Israel’s Aggressive Spying in
the U.S. Mostly Hushed Up

Newsweek, by Jeff Stein

When White House national security advisor Susan Rice’s security detail cleared her Jerusalem hotel suite for bugs and intruders Tuesday night, they might’ve had in mind a surprise visitor to Vice President Al Gore’s room 16 years ago this week: a spy in an air duct. According to a senior former U.S. intelligence operative, a Secret Service agent who was enjoying a moment of solitude in Gore’s bathroom before the Veep arrived heard a metallic scraping sound. “The Secret Service had secured [Gore’s] room in advance and they all left except for one agent, who decided to take a long, slow

NEWSWEEK is doubling down on its earlier story which charged outrageous levels of Israeli spying based on all anonymous sources. In this article, the only evidence of Israeli spying are the Gore incident from 16 years ago and the Pollard case of 27 years ago. Other than that, just another screed with unnamed sources. In other words, a lot of invective with absolutely nothing to back it up. I reiterate what I said earlier: this is the political left in Washington using its media crony to give it cover when they abandon Israel as things get hot.

Does anyone remember the Democrat Convention? The liberals booed God and Israel three times.

In a nutshell, Newsweek is run by liberals. Liberals hate the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob and by extension they hate Israel.

We can´t have that evil, apartheid Zionist Entity doing naughty stuff to protect itself, that would be wrong. It´s much better to have Israel against the wall with an old friend holding a knife to her throat.

It´d be a wise decision by the Israelis. The current US government is looking for ways to sell out the Israelis for some phony peace deal. I´d be spying on the USA, too.

Yep and for their own security, knowing we have Israel´s enemies sprinkled throughout the federal government, it started before Obama too. I agree with OP. Thank God

There was a minor kerfuffle in the press last week when reporters began picking through the academic writings of David Brat, the Virginian economics professor who bested House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a Republican primary. Brat had written that “If you refuse to pay your taxes, you will lose. You will go to jail, and if you fight, you will lose. The government holds a monopoly on violence. Any law that we vote for is ultimately backed by the full force of our government and military.” That sentence, “The government holds a monopoly on violence,” was held up by a number of publications—the Wall Street Journal

Recently I received the following email from a service member I have known for years whose career in a special-operations unit was ended when he was wounded in July 2009: “The night I was shot, I was on a rescue mission to save Bowe Bergdahl. He is a deserter. The information I was given before I went on the mission told me as much. He willingly walked off his base. More than a few service-members risked their lives trying to find/rescue him.” C. was an assault-team member in a direct-action unit when it was tasked with a mission to recover Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl days after he walked off his base in Afghanistan in 2009.

‘Congressional investigators are fuming over revelations that the Internal Revenue Service has lost a trove of emails to and from a central figure in the agency’s tea-party controversy.” That’s the opening sentence of the Associated Press story on the IRS’s claim that it lost an unknown number of e-mails over two years relating to the agency’s alleged targeting of political groups hostile to the president. But note how the AP casts the story: The investigators — Republican lawmakers — are outraged. Is it really so hard to imagine that if this were a Republican administration, the story wouldn’t be the frustration of partisan critics of the president?

Timing is everything, along with location; for President Obama and Hillary Clinton, it has now become toxic, beginning about midday May 31. That was when Obama arrived in the Rose Garden with Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl´s parents to announce he had exchanged the Taliban prisoner and possible deserter for five of Guantanamo Bay´s most dangerous terrorists, which he thought ought to make the country euphoric, but made much of it angry as hell. How could he know that trading five killers for someone who wandered off and into the hands of his captors would not induce raptures? And how could Clinton know that her launch,

As U.S. leaders signal a willingness to partner with Iran in the fight against Iraqi terrorists, senior military officials in Tehran are warning of repercussions for the United States if it meddles in Iraq. The head of Iran’s armed forces on Tuesday called the United States “supporters of terrorists” and warned the Obama administration against any intervention in Iraq, where extremist terrorists are seeking to depose the American-backed government. Iran’s warning came less than a day after senior Obama administration officials expressed optimism about partnering with Tehran and signals that the White House may be misreading Iran’s

The FDA, perhaps still smarting from the recent artisanal cheese kerfuffle, is setting its sights on a bigger target: salt. “The current level of [sodium] consumption is really higher than it should be,” said FDA commissioner Margaret Hamburg. That’s why they’re preparing “voluntary guidelines” for the food industry encouraging them to stay below certain salt levels. While the guidelines will initially be voluntary, health groups are lobbying for mandatory standards–lobbying that will only grow more intense if businesses refuse to comply once the standards are released. If businesses don’t go light on the salt “then FDA should start a

His answer wasn’t particularly out of the ordinary, or even remarkable in the places where most of us live, but he created an opportunity for the not-so-gay lobby to feign outrage. “Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not,” Mr. Perry told the Commonwealth Club of California, “you have the ability to decide not to do that. President Obama justified his release of the Taliban’s top terrorists on among other curious grounds that U.S. forces could just capture them again should they pose a risk to U.S. interests and security in the future. It doesn’t seem to bother Obama that such a careless policy means burdening soldiers with the demoralizing and exceedingly dangerous task of having to fight the same enemy multiple times. Obama considers furor over a deliberate practice of giving terrorists a fresh chance to kill Americans a contrived “controversy.” “This is what happens at the end of wars,” he casually says. Never mind that the terrorists have no intention of joining

We are discussing what to do about Iraq. It is a pointless discussion, because in this case, only one man’s opinion matters. His name is Barack Obama, and his opinion is that his signal foreign-policy accomplishment is having pulled the United States out of Iraq. He is unlikely to be moved by arguments that would cause him to revisit or revise that view, especially ones in favor of ground forces made by neoconservatives whose opinions he despises. And if President Obama isn’t moved, the American people won’t be moved. When it comes to matters beyond our borders, one simple proposition has governed public opinion in the

At some point, it’s hard not to laugh. Last Friday afternoon, the Obama administration’s IRS claimed that it could not provide copies of former top IRS official Lois Lerner’s complete email records because of – get this – a “computer crash.” But Lerner didn’t lose all of her emails, mind you, just the most potentially incriminating messages, for example, any emails to the White House, Democrats in Congress, the Department of Justice, and other external entities, during the most potentially incriminating timeframe -- from 2009 to early 2011, when the IRS targeting of Tea Party and conservative groups was at its peak.

The Internal Revenue Service is required by federal law to keep records of all agency emails and to print out hard copies of the emails to make sure they get saved in the event of a computer glitch. The IRS recently claimed that it lost 24,000 of 67,000 emails that ex-official Lois Lerner sent between 2009 and 2011, due to a computer crash. The IRS, which agreed to turn over all of Lerner’s emails to the House Committee on Ways and Means, specifically lost emails Lerner sent to other Obama administration agencies and the White House. Lerner is a major figure in the targeting scandal that has hit the IRS.

That was more than twice the share that named any other president. The other three presidents of the quarter century all polled about the same: 18% said they most admired President Barack Obama; 17% named George W. Bush; and 16%

Hardly anyone accepts the IRS’ claim to have lost two years of Lois Lerner’s emails. Those most familiar with government record retention requirements, and the technology used, probably are the most skeptical. The supposedly lost emails cover January 2009 to April 2011, the period when Lerner is suspected of targeting conservative groups with heightened and invasive scrutiny. Those emails also pertain to communications Lerner may have had with agencies other than the Internal Revenue Service. That’s key, because many suspect that the Obama White House knew about, and may have coordinated, the targeting.
