For the foreseeable future, your smartphone
battery won´t last longer than a day.
Stop moaning and deal with it

In the six years since we were all walking around with little bricky Nokia phones, we’ve come to enjoy many of the aspects of having a supercomputer in our pocket--but the fact that battery life will rarely exceed a day isn’t one of them. It seems not a phone launch goes by without the startled shock that a machine as thin as a pencil and able to give you the entire world’s knowledge in your hand doesn’t also run on perpetual motion. [Snip] For a start, if you leave the house without a USB cable in your bag today, you’re a braver man than me. There’s a strong argument to say the Nomad ChargeKey deserves the spot on your keyring

Good info on keeping your phone tank filled.

My Samsung Note 3 gives me 2 days of battery life with heavy usage (gps, bluetooth, and wifi all turned on).

3 to 4 days with moderate to light usage.

But having owned several other phones, I do recognize what the writer is saying.

Hopefully some company will come out with a phone in the next few years that will use solar power to give at least a few more hours of regular usage. Who will it be? Apple? Samsung? Motorola? Nokia? Bets taken here.

I suggest a billion dollar federal grant to a friendly alternative energy company to develop pinwheel power for phones. Imagine all the jobs created and saved.

Start your car, fasten your seat belt, and plug in your phone. My wife´s routine.

My cousin walked the Pacific Rim Trail. He had a solar charger on top of his pack.

I went the other way. My stupid phone only needs charging once a week.

I had a Samsung that would completely discharge after only a few hours while not being used at all. The battery tested ok . The next one Samsung was fine although it would discharge quickly under heave use. I am not an Apple fan but my current phone is an iPhone with the Mophie extra battery. It will hold power for three days easy.

The real problem is that most people have a unreal expectation as to how long the battery should last. Usually they have wifi switched on even though it is out of range, multiple apps set to automatically update, music player still running in the background and the screen set to never time out.

Another reason is that they never follow the directions advising to charge the phone completely +2 hours when they get it and drain it completely and repeat the process when they initially get the phone.

The more you have your phone on the charger, the less battery capacity it has over time.

I have the Galaxy Note 3 and like the first poster I use it all day long playing music at work, 10 hours a day and still hove 30%-40% battery left when I get home. I usually don´t throw it on the charger until it is bellow 20%.

The phones battery is amazing.

It is really a stupid design issue. Our phones are super thin, but most of us double the thickness with a case. I would gladly buy a phone that is twice as thick as my current Droid that had a bigger battery.

US advisers in Iraq risk assassination by troops they are trying to train, according to a classified report. Americans who are assigned to advise Baghdad’s forces could be at risk because so many units are deeply infiltrated by either Sunni extremist informants or Shiite personnel backed by Iran, the report by United States detailed. If the US does decide to assist in moving back the the advances made by Sunni militants in northern and western Iraq over the past month, the assessment concludes that only about half of Iraq’s operational units are able to carry out the push.

Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´."
