Benghazi Isn´t Iran-Contra
Wall Street Journal, by Peggy Noonan

Original Article

The Benghazi investigation should go forward but with knowledge that it will face heavy partisan and media pushback. Democrats will argue—they already are—that with the country in crisis the attention of Congress should be turned to addressing the issue that weighs most on the public mind: a bad economy with the very top flourishing while the middle is stuck, stressed and sinking. That will not be a wholly effective line for Democrats. Their and the president´s inability to work legislatively with Republicans the past 5½ years has left the American people understanding that nothing´s going to get done in the

Iran-Contra; as I recall the intent was to supply arms covertly to Iran to supply the release of hostages, and to funnel money to the Contras in Nicaragua.

In this case it would appear that the US was collecting unsecured arms in Libya and trying to get them covertly to rebels in Syria. In Iran Contra, the Democrats tried to make this a huge scandal to oust Reagan. With Benghazi they seem invested in keeping everything covered by a false narrative.

We don´t know what was going on in Benghazi nor why our Ambassador was there instead of Tripoli. At the very least, it would appear that the weapons weren´t collected and destroyed but instead made it into the hands of some very bad actors. No, Benghazi isn´t Iran Contra, but it could be infinitely worse.

Miss Peggy seems to have reached deep into the wine cellar when writing this one. It´s a mess.

I think Peggy is guilty of WWI-Writing While Intoxicated. This is a very strange article, the wording is odd, the organization is odd, it just has a strange feel to it. Granted, there are a few good points here, but I think Peggy may be in need of an intervention.

Another good article from Peggy. She is absolutely correct about the LWM being exposed for what they are. They have much invested in having the investigation fail. They did not do their jobs throughout this whole administration.

Seems they can only do their jobs when Republicans are in office. We need to figure out a way to level that out such that they do their jobs all the time.

The networks use our airwaves to transmit. Maybe we need to look at that angle for some leveling.

Peggy, Peggy... You (and it seems all of the LSM) are all concerned about the political implications of Benghazi, and claim it´s not like Iran-Contra. Trading arms to our enemies for hostages. Well, what was going on in the so-called "Annex" that required the presence of dozens of CIA and paramilitary personnel? Did Obama and Clinton carelessly remove security personnel from the Mission building so as to deflect attention? Is what was going on in the Annex what they are trying to cover up"

I´ve heard they were trying to collect the arms Obama illegally supplied to the Libyan opposition to illegally supply them to the Syrian opposition, who are Al Queda. They were being channeled through Turkey, which is why Amb. Stevens was meeting with the Turkish Ambassador. How would that make Obama look 6 weeks before an election?

"Compare that with how the Obama White House has handled Benghazi. It´s all been spin, close ranks, point fingers, obfuscate, withhold documents, accuse your accusers of base motives. Nobody in the administration has paid a price."

No, but four American citizens and the rest of us who are suffering through the arrogant ineptness of this administration are paying the price.

No, Benghazi isn´t Iran-Contra, it´s worse.

The White House’s explanation of why so many “children” are crossing our southern border recently is that the violence in Central America drove them here. Also, as usual, Bush is to blame: in 2008 President Bush signed a law “to prevent immigration officials from inadvertently sending [children] back to pimps and drug violence”. On July 5, the Los Angeles Times published an article by Brian Bennett. Using data obtained from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Bennett reported as follows. “The increase has been dramatic. For most of the last decade, U.S. agents apprehended fewer than 4,000 ?unaccompanied children from El

Babe Ruth’s 1918 contract — inked two years before he became a Yankee legend — sold for more than $1 million at a Baltimore auction. The high-end sale came one day after the 100th anniversary of the Bambino’s Major League Baseball debut on July 11, 1914 for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. That contract, which went for $1.02 million, was the highlight of an auction of Ruth and other baseball players’ memorabilia on Saturday night at the Sports Legends Museum in Baltimore. The Sultan of Swat, while best known for his exploits in New York, is also fondly

Sacramento -Yhe San Joaquin Valley may be struggling to grow food because of the dust-bowling drought. But it´s having no trouble producing Republican leaders. OK, that´s a non sequitur. But maybe not so much. The latest Republican leader to emerge from the San Joaquin is Assemblywoman Kristin Olsen of Modesto, a conservative with an appealing moderate tone, who nevertheless has strong views about water development. She isn´t easily pigeonholed. Unlike some valley Republicans, Olsen is adamantly opposed — as are many environmentalists — to Gov. Jerry Brown´s obsessive effort to dig two massive water tunnels under the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. The

Within the hour, a driver arrived with a white paper bag carrying a gram of cannabis, 10 joints and a handful of pot-infused candies and cookies. "They come to my house, and they´re in and out," said Reichle, 39, a comedian who spends about $100 a week on medical marijuana. "I shouldn´t have to go to a store." Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´."
