NFL Team Official: Michael Sam
Is ‘Not A Really Good Athlete’

CBS St. Louis, by Staff

Posted By:earlybird, 5/9/2014 2:03:36 PM

ST. LOUIS — It could be a very long weekend for Michael Sam. The openly gay football player from the University of Missouri is hoping an NFL team takes a chance and makes history by drafting him, but some experts believe he might end up being an undrafted free agent. Scouts told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that they don’t see Sam’s game transitioning to the NFL. “Most of his production was hustle stuff,” an NFC personnel official told the Journal Sentinel. “There’s production, but he’s short, he’s not a really good athlete and he doesn’t play good against the run.”

OP comment was not my opinion, but was based upon this comment at another article:

Jason Collins has been in the NBA for ten years and he was a benchwarmer the whole time.

I assume that means he was never a starter.

If someone has information that that was incorrect, it should be linked here. Don´t bash the messenger...

This was published at ESPN last fall:

Like it or not, Collins hasn´t been a legit rotation player in this league for a good six seasons. If Collins never plays another NBA minute, there will be loud and widespread cries that the league at large rejected him on the basis of his sexuality. But who can unreservedly make that declaration when Collins has been a 13th/14th/15th man for the last half-decade?

#1, seeing how the SEC plays no defense, not hard to imagine.

Someone broek down his numbers, he got a bulk of his sacks against 3-4 teams, who were not too good. Plus, he is small, slow and does not have a true position.

If you want to make this about a gay player not having a job, talk about Kerry Rhodes. He was a top 5-10 saftey. Some pics of him and his boyfriend came out and he has not worked since.

"Chicago White Sox president Ken Williams, who previously was the first African-American general manager in Chicago sports history, said that if a team is unwilling to offer its full backing to an openly gay player, then it should not acquire him.

"Are you, as a leader of your organization, prepared to provide the young man the public and private support he will need along with controlling, to the extent you can, what the behavior is in the clubhouse/locker room?" Williams asked.

"If the answer is yes, then you have an opportunity to use what some see as a distraction and use it as an individual and team character-building opportunity along the lines of what Branch Rickey did for Jackie Robinson.

"If the answer is no, then it is unfair to select him because like it or not, this will be a daily media/fan event and will need to be managed to keep everyone´s focus on the job at hand."

Just one hour of exercise a week can halve the chance of getting Alzheimer’s disease, claims a study that ranks the seven lifestyle threats driving the rising levels of dementia. The research by Cambridge University says one in three cases of the condition could be prevented by increased activity levels, a cut in smoking and tackling health problems such as obesity and diabetes. The study, published in the Lancet Neurology Monday, is the first to quantify the combined impact of lifestyle factors influencing dementia. It identifies exercise as the most significant protection against the condition. Those who failed to do three 20-minute bursts

Theresa May’s judgment has been called into question by MPs after a former judge who was appointed to lead an inquiry into allegations of historical child sex abuse by establishment figures resigned just days after she was appointed. Baroness Butler-Sloss stepped down as the head of a major inquiry into child abuse claims following criticism of her links to the establishment. Mrs May, the Home Secretary, appointed Lady Butler-Sloss last week to lead a sweeping inquiry into how the state, church, BBC and other public bodies handled allegations of child sexual abuse.

There’s a movement sweeping the land, and if you want to call it “reform conservatism,” I agree that it’s good marketing. It promises a freshness and idealism that are appealing. What is reform conservatism? Let’s quote from one of its key documents (emphases added): Republicans . . . have always taken the side of the individual, whose freedoms are threatened by the big government that Democratic [ideas have] spawned. Our case for the individual is stronger than ever. A defense of the individual against government was never more needed. And we will continue to mount it. Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama.
