What global warming means
for your grocery bill

A recent report released by the White House, the National Climate Assessment Report, says the effects of climate change are already being experienced across the United States. And according to one commodities expert, global warming has turned up the heat on agriculture prices—which could be leading to higher costs at the grocery store. "More than 80 percent of the temperature rise has occurred since 1980, and with that has come some price increases," wrote Jodie Gunzberg, global head of commodities at S&P Dow Jones Indices. Zeroing in on the S&P GSCI Agriculture index, she finds that it has increased by

And if you´ll only follow Dear Reader, he can cure global warming, once and for all. And remember, higher food prices are NOT the fault of Obama & Co., because they simply don´t make mistakes. It´s not Obama´s bad policies causing this - it´s global warm- er- climate change.

Such desperation... Nobody´s buying the AGW arguments, so let´s just make stuff up that people can relate to:

Grocery prices are rising - global warming!
Hurricanes - global warming!
Tornadoes - global warming!
Earthquakes - global warming!
Heat spells and droughts - global warming!
Cold spells - global war... er, climate change
That toothache you had last week - global warming!

Groceries are going up because of the EPA and the FDA. And, of course, farmers switching to Organic produce 1/2 the food as standard farming practices. Plus - we are being forced to feed corn to Cars instead of to People.

We are using food to power our cars. It is not global warming, but a coercive government that is the cause.

A writer at a business news site knows this. That is why the article qualifies as propaganda.

The painful effects of socialist policies including but far from limited to ethanol subsidies are being felt so they leverage the pain to justify more socialism. And sadly people will buy it.

Hikes in food prices are directly related to Obama´s policies. Higher oil prices increase costs across the board and hurt the lower income people disproportionately.

What a tool this CNBC writer is. Global warming (sic), to the extent that it has happened while CO2 levels have been increasing, not only isn´t adding to our grocery bills--it´s decreasing them. A warmer environment with abundant corbon dioxide will grow sturdier, healthier plants. That´s good for flora, fauna, and mankind.

What is making life more expensive all around are quixotic attempts by governments, businesses, and international agencies to fight a phenomenon that isn´t a problem, and even if it were, our duty would be to adapt to it, since humanity is so insignificant in the Earth´s ecosystem as to be almost an afterthought. Just for beginners, eliminating ethanol as a motor fuel additive would exert downward pressure on meat prices. But the killjoy Greens want all herds to die, all fishermen to go out of business, and all poultry farms to cease and desist.

When I see these pronouncements, I go and look for the writer´s bio. It rarely disappoints. Here´s young Mr. Rosenberg´s:

Alex Rosenberg is an associate producer in CNBC´s Strategic Programming and Development unit, where he serves as the digital writer and editor for "Futures Now" and "Options Action." Prior to joining CNBC, Rosenberg was a member of NBCUniversal´s Page Program. He received a bachelor´s degree with honors from Brown University in 2011.

He´s held a lot of important jobs during his three years at work, right? The perfect person to pontificate on the effect of global warming on our grocery bill. Scare tactics from another young Alinsky disciple.

Or, maybe food prices have risen because there´s been a global rise in the quality of life. Increased demand for food, increased prices for food, rather basic concept.

So many factors are in play here. The Central Valley in California produced abundant vegetables and fruit until the environmentalists decreed shutting off the irrigation because of some silly little fish that matters to no one. There is the corn for cars issue that takes away an enormous amount of water in the process. There was a huge depletion of cattle herds secondary to the drought in the SW. Can you join the dots of the chem trails covering the skies in the SW as the government tinkers with our climate in order to charge us more and drive farmers off the land? Land use regulations crippling small farmers and market gardeners do more to reduce local supplies. Oh for less government and a return to independent self reliance.

Global temperatures are essentially flat for the last two decades and according to some scientists are ready to take a two centuries long plunge. In 2050 there will be nine billion people to feed with a drastic reduction in time and acreage available for food production. These people ought to get their heads examined.

Much of the price increases are due to EPA, FDA, etc., regulations, and of course inflationary practices by the Federal Reserve.

There´s also the increase in gas/diesel prices, caused by Obama´s policies.

Not to mention withholding water from the California farmers and the wasteful use of ethanol from corn, which wastes both corn and water.

Then there´s that hog disease which has caused so much loss for hog farmers.
