Benham brothers: ´If faith
cost us TV show, so be it´

USA Today, by Ann Oldenburg

HGTV had announced a new series, Flip it Forward, planned for October, starring twins David and Jason Benham. The concept: After a decade of flipping houses for profit, the Benham guys would now help families buy the home they thought they could never afford — a small-scale, personal Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. In each episode, the brothers would find a fixer-upper and "transform it into their forever home — with a healthy dose of sibling rivalry between the brothers along the way," said HGTV in the April announcement.

I have to admire these guys, along with Phil Robertson. They have brought the culture war out of the closet, and into full daylight.

I would think the leftists would agree, since we know how much they like having things come out of closets.

HGTV frequently casts "special" couples in their "reality" dramas.

Look at the sponsors of HGTV, and you will see who should get your letters of disaproval.

(Psssst that would be the 2 big hardware/homecare chains.)

Quite obviously the Benham brothers have never spent any time watching HGTV. If they had, they wouldn´t have signed on.

Gay couples buying houses and gay couples renovating houses consumes a HUGE percentage of HGTV air time.

It´s not unusual to see three or four programs a day featuring gays.

I know because I watch a LOT of HGTV --and I don´t intend to stop based on this "firing." All the gay folks are doing is buying or renovating --not pushing their agenda on me, talking about their private lives, and not having explicit sex talks or acts --hetero or homo, on air --and that´s got network and other cable programming beat all to heck and gone.

Seriously.

And for the record, HGTV also features ministers/preachers/reverends buying and renovating houses, and actually show them in their churches, ministering to their congregations.

President Obama on Thursday claimed he is “not that partisan of a guy” as he mocked calls in the Republican Party for his impeachment. The president spent much of his address in Austin, Texas, hammering congressional Republicans, saying they have "blocked or voted down every serious idea to strengthen the middle class." “I’m just telling the truth now," Obama said. "I don´t have to run for office again so I can just let her rip.” He teed off on Republicans such as Sarah Palin who have suggested in recent days that he be impeached, and dismissed Speaker John Boehner´s (R-Ohio) proposed lawsuit

“Without borders, there is no nation,” former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin wrote in a Breitbart op-ed this week. “Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America ... President Obama´s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here ... It´s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the Left or Right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment.” That this desperate cry for attention (dangling participle and all)

Barack Obama may have lost a few approval rating points with this move. The president was seen cutting the line at Austin´s Franklin Barbecue Thursday afternoon, while in town to raise money for the Democratic Party. Lives at the eatery are infamously long, and have been known to stretch as long as three hours wait. But Mr Obama did no waiting today, as he showed up at the restaurant, shook a few hands and made his way straight to the register to order more than $300 worth of meat. ´I know this is a long line. I feel real bad, but – I’m gonna

Bears, beer and horse heads: What exactly is going on with the leader of the free world? On a single day this week in Denver, President Obama scarfed down pizza and drinks with strangers, shot pool with Colorado’s governor and shook hands with a guy on the street wearing a horse mask. His top staffers are promoting these stops on Twitter with the hashtag #TheBearIsLoose — a term one of Obama’s aides coined in 2008 when the candidate would defy his schedule. More than five years into his presidency, Obama is trying to free himself from the constraints of office,

Thursday at her weekly briefing, House Minority Leader Rep Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was asked why when she was Speaker of the House she did not move forward on the requests of her members to impeach then-President George W. Bush over the arguments his administration made for entering into war with Iraq in 2003. Pelosi accused Bush of being guilty of impeachable offense saying he "sent us into a war based on a false representation of the treat of weapons of mass destruction." But she added after the "shameful, irresponsible an wrong" attempted impeachment of President Bill Clinton she "did not want

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) yesterday described herself as a “lioness” when it comes to protecting children. She also called not only for the U.S. government to process minors arriving illegally from Central America on a “case-by-case basis" but for the government to “treat the Mexican kids the way they treat the non-contiguous country kids.” “Quite frankly, I would rather they treat the Mexican kids the way they treat the non-contiguous country kids,” Pelosi said at a Capitol Hill press conference on Thursday, claiming that sending these children back to their home countries would be like “sending them back into a

SAN DIEGO - The family that drew national attention when they were rescued at sea off their sailboat, Rebel Heart, in April is finally setting the record straight. Charlotte and Eric Kaufman and their two daughters were about 1,000 miles west of Cabo San Lucas in the Sea of Cortez when 1-year old Lyra became sick. That was when their adventure of a lifetime turned into a nightmare. It began with a fever, then a rash and then Lyra became lethargic. That was when the couple used their satellite cell phone to call a doctor. He advised them to begin treating Lyra

A cargo train used by Mexicans and Central Americans to travel toward the U.S. border derailed in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca on Wednesday, stranding about 1,300 migrants, emergency services said. Many of the migrants aboard were young people and nobody was injured when the train nicknamed "the Beast" came off the tracks, a spokesman for local emergency services said. Since last October, more than 50,000 unaccompanied minors, most from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, have been caught illegally crossing the southwest border of the United States. Children say that they are fleeing violence at home and hope that they will be

It’s true what they say about Michelle Obama. She has amazing arms. I saw this up close when she unfurled her bare right limb in front of me Thursday night, while the two of us were doing tapas at the jumping Barcelona on 14th Street NW. Clearly the first lady works out, clearly she moisturizes and clearly L’Oréal should hire her as its pitchwoman after she leaves 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. “Ma’am, you rock,” I wanted to tell her, even though I was seated a table away from her party of eight, which included White House chef Sam Kass, and was

Unlike many of his Republican colleagues, Karl Rove advocated Thursday for bipartisan compromise on immigration. “Republicans have to look at this as an opportunity that they have to work,” the Republican strategist said on the Fox News program “Happening Now.” “It’s an opportunity to get some things done to help secure the border.” He suggested that in working with President Barack Obama’s $3.7 billion request for additional funds to deal with the current immigration crisis, Republicans could make policy gains like increasing the amount of border patrols. “They ought to sit down in good faith,” he said of Republicans and the

Not counting instances when he quoted a letter from a citizen or cited dialogue from a movie, President Barack Obama used the first person singular--including the pronouns "I" and "me" and the adjective "my"--199 times in a speech he delivered Thursday vowing to use unilateral executive action to achieve his policy goals that Congress would not enact through the normal, constitutional legislative process. “It is lonely, me just doing stuff,” Obama said at the speech in Austin, Texas, according to the official transcript and video posted on the White House website. “I’m just telling the truth now,” Obama told the

The facts are simple. The IRS systematically targeted conservative and Tea Party groups after their activism proved decisive in the 2010 midterm elections—Obama’s famous “shellacking.” The effects of this targeting were widespread. Some Tea Party groups were neutered in the months before the 2012 presidential election. Few of the explanations or justifications of this targeting provided by IRS leaders and Obama administration officials have held up. IRS officials at first denied that any targeting had taken place. That was false. They later claimed that the targeting had involved only low-level employees in the Cincinnati office. That was false. They argued
