Universe Evolution Recreated in Lab
BBC, by Pallab Ghosh

Original Article

Posted By:quantumman, 5/8/2014 3:47:27 AM

An international team of researchers has created the most complete visual simulation of how the Universe evolved. The computer model shows how the first galaxies formed around clumps of a mysterious, invisible substance called dark matter. It is the first time that the Universe has been modelled so extensively and to such great resolution. The research has been published in the journal Nature. Now we can get to grips with how stars and galaxies form and relate it to dark matter”, Prof Richard Ellis Caltech. The simulation will provide a test bed for emerging theories of what the Universe is

Comments:
The simulation required three months to run on a dedicated supercomputer.

Can´t accurately predict the weather a week from now...

Can´t model accurately the earth´s climate...

CAN make a ´complete visual simulation of how the Universe evolved.´

Yeah, right.

Following the announcement of his election victory in India last Friday, India’s Prime Minister-elect took to his Twitter page to thank the many nations and world leaders who were quick to offer their congratulations on his massive, landslide win. To name but a few, Modi thanked by name the presidents and Prime Ministers of great-power countries like Shinzo Abe of Japan, Vladimir Putin of Russia, Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu, Australia’s Tony Abbott, Stephen Harper of Canada, and David Cameron, Prime Minister of Great Britain. He also thanked by name the leaders of smaller states closer to home like Sri Lanka and

Time after time, President Obama has reportedly learned of a number of big administration scandals in the media, from the IRS to Fast & Furious and now the VA scandal over wait times and veterans dying before receiving proper treatment (Jay Carney said today the president learned about this scandal through media reports). All this apparent unawareness before the fact led Charles Krauthammer to argue on Special Report today that Obama acts like he “stumbled upon the presidency” only to be shocked by how much wrong there really is. He lightly mocked the idea that Obama is “madder than hell”

As an uncommonly brisk night fell over Houston last week a tiny Russian spacecraft, bathed in blinding sunlight, re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere and plunged toward a dusty steppe in Kazakhstan. Of the three astronauts inside one was American, Rick Mastracchio, returning from a 188-day stay aboard the International Space Station. His arrival was closely watched in Houston, where Johnson Space Center has responsibility for U.S. human operations in space. Here, in mission control, photographs of astronauts old and new line long halls. They offer a palpable reminder that these people have managed every Gemini, Apollo and space shuttle flight. Documents obtained by the Washington Times revealed that the Bush Administration warned the Obama Administration about problems within the Veterans Administration as early as 2008, yet both the ABC and NBC evening news broadcasts ignored the story on Monday, May 19. Of the big three networks, only the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley covered the new revelations in the VA scandal. CBS News host Scott Pelley noted that “The Bush White House was so concerned about this back in 2008 that it warned the incoming Obama Administration.”

After the full House of Representatives cited former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) official Lois G. Lerner for contempt of Congress on Wednesday, the Washington Times fittingly made it the lead story. Over at the Washington Post, however, print readers had to go 19 pages deep to “The Fed Page,” a union-style newsletter for federal employees. If the Post had buried the story any deeper, it would have been wedged into the classifieds or crumpled up in a backyard mulch barrel. Here’s how the New York Times handled the story: “The House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to hold Lois Lerner, a

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said he would strive to be like Lyndon Johnson, the Democrat famous for expanding the U.S. welfare state through the "Great Society," if he were elected president. According to the Miami Herald, Bush made those comments Wednesday night in San Antonio, Florida at Saint Leo University, while speaking about education, immigration, and energy policy. Bush did not address Johnson´s Great Society and War on Poverty programs, about which Ronald Reagan once famously quipped, "We had a war on poverty, and poverty won." The House has held Lois Lerner in contempt, but it won’t use its power to place the former IRS official under arrest, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said on Sunday. Under a precedent affirmed by the Supreme Court, each chamber of Congress can authorize its sergeant-at-arms to detain individuals it holds in contempt. But Boehner said on "Fox News Sunday" that he has no interest in doing that with Lerner, whom the House last week voted to hold in contempt over her refusal to testify about her role in the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups. “I’m not sure we want to go down that path,” Boehner said. “It’s never been used,” he said of the

WASHINGTON - As the United States attempts to punish Russia for its actions in Ukraine, the Treasury Department is deploying an economic weapon that could prove more costly than sanctions: the Internal Revenue Service. This summer, the U.S. plans to start using a new law that will make it more expensive for Russian banks to do business in America. "It´s a huge deal," says Mark E. The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security.
