House votes 231-187 to hold IRS’s
Lerner in contempt of Congress

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Bernie Becker & Cristina Marcos

The House voted Wednesday to hold former IRS official Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify about the agency’s improper scrutiny of Tea Party groups. The 231 to 187 vote, which attracted just 6 Democrats, marked the latest escalation in the nearly yearlong IRS controversy, which broke last May when Lerner acknowledged and apologized for the agency’s singling out of Tea Party groups seeking tax-exempt status. Republicans said the move to hold Lerner in contempt was both reluctant and a long time coming, after they’d tried to secure her testimony for more than 11 months. Lerner has

Comments:
In a separate vote they asked Holder to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS. Do they really believe he will do that?? If he does appoint one he will be a radical leftist!!

I´ll speculate that Holder will stall as long as possible, then appoint a Special Prosecutor. The SP will then be able to stall again. It will be hard to criticize a SP for taking time to carefully review the matter.

On the comtempt vote I´m surprised they got even six ´aye´ votes from Democrats.

10-1 the Democrats went along with it because Lois Lerner reminds them of their b-word ex-mother-in-law.

It will say a lot about our criminal justice system if the highest law enforcement officer in the nation (Holder) refuses to investigate then prosecute Lerner for contempt of congress. Politics first, justice second. Aren´t you liberals proud?

26 demonrats voted for a special prosecutor. That´s because Holder can then refuse to assign one.

6 demonrats voted for contempt of congress. That means Holder has to proceed with the contempt citation because the law says "shall" (as the lawyers said yesterday).

Words in statutes mean nothing to Holder. He is the mouthpiece for a small man who would like to be a dictator. He´s got his Obama´s back. It´s either silly, bad judgment, or insane to expect a man who´s been held in contempt by a Congress he obviously despises to take any action to enforce a Congressional contempt citation on a woman who could cause POTUS irreversible political damage. The House of Representatives has its own authority to act. They can arrest Lerner, try her before the house, and incarcerate her for the contempt. Last done in 1933. Holder will do nothing. That´s a given. If the House does not have the courage of its convictions, the contempt vote on Lerner will be net loss, not a symbolic gain. It will prove how absolutely impotent and irrelevant the Republicans have allowed themselves to become.

What does it say about this political climate that most of us know the outcome of this before it even happens. If Holder is forced to appoint a special prosecutor, he/she will be anything but fair and unbiased. It will drag out for months, if not, years. Lerner will continue to enjoy all the perks and retirement benefits the American tax payer affords her. The IRS will continue to harass conservatives. No one will go to jail or suffer any adverse consequences from this outrage. In Washington it will be business as usual; democrats hold the reigns of power, make the rules and suffer no consequences.

I´m wondering if Holder might have something to worry about after the November Election. If, as most think will happen, the Republicans take over the Senate, what is to stop them from impeaching Holder? He´s already in contempt of Congress and if he refuses to do his job and prosecute Learner that´s another charge. I wouldn´t be surprised if he´s thrown out of his job! If we win 10 Seats or more, Obama is not going to be able help Holder out. There might still be hope for justice for Learner!

This article´s mindless recountings of what democrats say is very annoying. Democrats say they want to hear Lerner´s testimony, but support her constitutional right not to testify. This is bull. Democrats don´t want the truth, because the truth is that democrats were and are the instigators of all the actions of the IRS against conservatives, and they are still at it, with the FCC, FEC, EPA, and whatever other agency they can silence conservatives.

Please note all you R contenders in November for the seats held by Ds who voted "NO". The campaign ads make themselves: "Your Congressional Representative condones the abuses of the IRS. Are you next to be audited? Protect yourself from those who would use government as a weapon, vote Republican." There are lots of Eeyores in the room today. What happens if Holder doesn´t do his job - there are a few more arrows in the quiver including and not limited to a civil charge and throwing the hag in jail. This is a big win for our side and we now have Ds on the record as okay with weaponizing the government.

A Senate with a majority of Republicans could not successfully find holder Guilty or the Articles of Impeachment that the House of Reps passes (by a majority). It takes two-thirds (67 votes) to force Holder out of office. That´s why Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton both survived the impeachment process. If the Republicans get the majority in the Senate, it will be a good thing, but it won´t mean the Republicans can obtain cloture (60 votes) overcome a Presidential veto, or impeach anyone.

Judge Napalotano(sp)was on Cavuto today talking about this subject. He said the only way they will force Learner to testify is to go to a FEDERAL Judge, ask for "Immunity against her will" and If this is granted, she will have to testify or go to Jail. It completely bypasses the Justice department and Holder. Sounds like a plan to me!

Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

The headline in the Washington Post on June 4 was clear: Rove-backed American Crossroads won’t get involved in Cochran runoff Said the Post story the day after Tea Party favorite Chris McDaniel had defeated six-term Mississippi GOP Senator Thad Cochran in the first round of the state’s GOP primary: American Crossroads, a GOP establishment organization, has decided to shift its political focus almost entirely to the general election and will not be spending money in the likely runoff election to decide the Mississippi Senate nomination that was virtually deadlocked after Tuesday night. Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the
