Texas Is Permanently Shutting Abortion Clinics
and the Supreme Court Can´t Do Anything About It

National Journal, by Sophie Novack

When Texas Gov. Rick Perry signed a sweeping anti-abortion law in 2013, he did so knowing the measure faced an uncertain future. Indeed, the law is already winding its way through the legal system, and if its opponents have their way, Texas´s reproductive legal code will land in the hands of the Supreme Court. But such a decision is likely a year or years a way, and back in the Lone Star State, the final judicial score won´t much matter. The law has already had tremendous success in closing abortion clinics and restricting abortion access in Texas. And those successes appear all

Texas´ goobernment took a page from the fascist playbook and used it to shut down these clinics. How can the fascist be against regulations that were just common sense and design to protect innocent women from people like Gosnell. Looks like over regulation can cut both ways now.

FTA ""I can´t find anyone to deliver water or resurface the parking lot, because they´re against abortion. I can´t get someone to fix a leak in the roof," said Amy Hagstrom Miller, CEO of Whole Women´s Health."

It never crosses these mindless liberals that a majority of Americans are against child killing. The SC gave us this abomination but that doesn´t mean we have to support it. Texas is not "permanently shutting down" any clinics. The clinics can´t meet the minimum standards set by Texas 1. being within 30 miles of a hospital and 2. FTA "abortions, including drug-induced, be performed in ambulatory surgical centers". Bravo Gov. Perry and the Texas legislators. Just remember when Texas goes blue because Speaker Boner and the GOP elite Republicans want amnesty this can all be reversed.

#2 protecting a woman´s health by having adequate medical treatment nearby is less important than women aborting babies? Really???
You do realize Dr Gosnell had NO medical facilities available to his butchered women, right?

I think #2 wasn´t making that point, but I´m not sure what the point was.

What was "fascist" about requiring abortion clinics to meet the same requirements as any other medical clinic in Texas? Abortion clinics weren´t closed if they complied.

The Dems try to control not through law as much as regulation(pen and a phone). Texas used that same technique at a perfect time which was during the revelation of the Gosnell horrors to pass laws that prevented a Gosnell in Texas. Resisting the new laws was to give a way for a Gosnell to happen. It was a great strategy that worked perfectly, created a media darling that was not vetted and now her whole biography and campaign has come apart.

God Bless Texas

What the abortionists are really saying is that minimal healthy and safety requirements reduces their profit margin. For the last few decades, abortion mills have been a money machine. Thank goodness Texas found a way to make those butcher shops less lucrative.

It´s pretty astonishing when you think about the trajectory of the abortion rights movement that they´d close shop rather than maintain clean, safe medical standards. I don´t think many people realized in the beginning that they just wanted the monopoly on back-alley abortions.

#10, What is even more fun is that the Texas abortion clinics are complaining that the law requiring them to function as a medical facility will deprive women of accessibility to a "safe" abortion.

In other words, they are saying, you have to let us work at the same level as a back-alley abortionist, so women won´t go to a back-alley abortionist.

Fascism is goobernment control of private property by regulation of price, product, personnel, profit and production (via default property). Thus, fascist (in America that is the Democrat party) control the populace by regulation. Texas turned the fascist playbook on its head by regulating the abortion clinics out of business (similar to our goobernment regulating station wagons out of existence). Thus, Texas used common sense regulation to protect women from unregulated abortions.

Back alley referred to the way patients had to be snuck in by the back door after hours, not to the conditions. Ironically, when abortions were illegal the physicians who performed them- and almost every good sized town had one- had to be extra careful because sending a patient to the emergency room risked going to jail.

The problem with back alley abortions was that going in through the back door implied shame. Upper middle class baby boomers and their parents didn´t want to be made to feel like criminals for killing inconvenient babies.

#18, I remember my father coming home from the airport, saying he´d seen a bench full of young girls, and asking an airline employee if they were kids on a school trip. The airline employee told him, no, they´re the girls waiting for the transport to the abortion clinic. Dad was so horrified, he´d sent the little kids out of the room so he could tell my mother this story.

Federal employees, like all Americans, are entitled to hold passionate political beliefs. Most executive branch federal employees, however, may not engage in certain political activities, thanks to an anti-conflict of interest principle enshrined in a federal law called the Hatch Act. To wit, President Bush requested the resignation of his GSA administrator in 2008 after the US Office of Special Counsel determined she had violated federal law by participating in a video conference with Karl Rove and sending out partisan letters. That´s up from 5 percent in June, and is the highest number Gallup has registered for immigration since 2006, when 15 percent said it was the nation´s most pressing problem. Gallup’s new survey found immigration is virtually tied with “dissatisfaction with government” as the nation´s top problem. The economy and unemployment rank below immigration and “dissatisfaction with government" as top problems, the new poll found. Only 8 percent now rate healthcare as the top problem, down from 16 percent in January, when

The headlines last week were all about the potential windfall: A second appraisal of works in the Detroit Institute of Arts´ collection had come in and the number was several orders of magnitude larger than the first. The city needs a valuation because the museum´s collection is in play under the current municipal bankruptcy proceeding. How would you feel if someone promised to give you a car, and then reneged on that pledge? That’s how all Americans should feel when it comes to ObamaCare -- because Barack Obama’s failed and discredited campaign promise to lower health insurance premiums has cost the average American family an amount equal to the price of many new cars. During his 2008 campaign, one of then-Senator Obama’s most audacious promises was that his health plan would reduce premiums by $2,500 for the average family. His repeatedly made his pledge on videotape; you can view those promises here. But health insurance premiums
