Don’t sacrifice taxpayer
trillions at AGW altar

Tampa Tribune, by Tom Jackson

Planet Earth was cycling through one climate pattern or another long before the Jurassic breakup of the Pangaea super-continent 175 million years ago, and it will continue to do so right up until the moment our distant descendants are consumed in the sun’s red giant phase. So, there you go: something to look forward to in the ultimate settling of anthropogenic global warming. What remains distinctly unsettled — Al Gore’s massive carbon footprint notwithstanding — are at least two questions. To what degree, if any, does human activity influence climate shifts? If it can be established beyond reasonable doubt humans

Do humans affect the climate? Of course but only in small ways. It´s why cities are slightly warmer than their suburbs. All that concrete creates a heat trap.

Atlanta´s official temperature is taken from instruments at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. The airport is 38 square miles of concrete and asphalt. This skews the ´official´ temperature upwards by several degrees.

One big volcano eruption like Krakatoa can temporarily change the worldwide temperature but we can´t.

The left has invested itself so completely in AGW that they simply cannot let it go. It means money, power and ideology to them. It was to be the perfect tool for them. Now, the planet has refused to cooperate and they have resorted to outright lying.

According to NBC White House Correspondent Chuck Todd the White House expected “euphoria” over the release of the last American soldier held captive in Afghanistan and were completely blindsided by the wave of outrage with which the Bergdahl swap was greeted. (Snip) The standard advice proffered to speakers to defuse the hostility of an angry audience is to back off and issue a mea culpa. So can expect Barack Obama to come out and eat crow? Whaaat? TAMPA — Early on the morning of Feb. 14, two Tampa police officers on a routine air patrol were distracted when a beam of light arrived uninvited into the cockpit of their helicopter. They directed ground units to a Robles Park home, where police arrested 29-year-old Jeremy Sumpter. He admitted to aiming a laser pointer at the aircraft, police said at the time, and faces up to five years in prison. Such incidents, once unusual, are becoming almost commonplace. Law enforcement and aviation officials say the number of incidents where someone shined a laser into a passing plane or helicopter

The narrative in the Bowe Bergdahl saga has changed from heroism to one of compassion, skipping over everything in between. Time Magazine, that reliable bellweather of establishment media opinion, has jumped straight to the question of whether or not Bergdahl should be formally charged with desertion. (Snip) As it was he handed his commander-in-chief, Barack Obama, the unequaled opportunity to reach out to the Taliban by handing them a bargaining chip in the person of himself — a chip Obama promptly played against Congress. For were it not for Bergdahl, Obama would have lacked any pretext to spring five senior

The “Bergdahl deal could be first step to emptying Gitmo,” writes Josh Rogin in the Daily Beast. “Now that President Obama has proven Congress can’t stop him from releasing terrorists, the administration could be primed to empty out the prison at Guantanamo Bay.” (Snip) Obama wants to ‘negotiate’ with the Taliban, wants it with an intensity born of desperation. Therefore he must do what they want. The duress under which Obama operated was described by the administration itself. White House officials acknowledged that the sudden trade violated a federal law requiring a 30-day notice to Congress before prisoners are transferred.

It’s traveling season once more for restless Americans, especially those sick to death of “staycations” and one-tank getaways. (Snip) Not coincidentally, Charlie Crist — never one to miss a bandwagon — has climbed aboard. Furthermore, because he is not a man of wasted gestures, Crist’s getaway is designed for maximum political advantage: Detecting what seems to be the achievement of critical mass in Floridians’ shifting regard for their nearest international neighbor, Crist says he’s going to Cuba this summer; may even lead an entourage. It’s true surveys reveal a generalized softening toward Cuba. We’re especially sympathetic for the Cuban people,

The first thing a database developer learns to fear is data corruption. “Data corruption refers to errors in computer data that occur during writing, reading, storage, transmission, or processing, which introduce unintended changes to the original data.” If left unchecked, data corruption eventually renders a database completely useless; not only useless, but harmful. A useless database only fails to give you answers. A harmful database actually gives you consistently wrong answers. If liberals deserve kudos for anything, it’s for consistently and successfully politicizing crises, perverting truth, and demonizing political opponents. Thanks to Rahm Emanuel, America knows that the liberal mindset is to ‘never let a serious crisis to go to waste.’ (Snip) And why not hammer home the point that the microcosm of the system Barack Obama touts as the answer to 300 million Americans’ healthcare woes has proven to be incapable of caring for at minimum 40 dead veterans who suffered and died needlessly while waiting for months on a secret list? TAMPA — His arrival on the Tampa Bay sports scene almost 20 years ago was not altogether heralded. In the eyes of some, it was barely even welcomed. Though he agreed to rescue the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from the clutches of the Hugh Culverhouse estate and offered to pay what was then a record $192 million for an NFL franchise, there was concern about Malcolm Glazers’ true intentions. To go along with his new team, Glazer wanted a new stadium - and he wanted the public to pay for most of it while he reaped most of the profits from

Angelou lived in an 18-room home on the campus, where she taught American Studies. The increasingly frail Angelou was battling heart problems, and recently canceled her appearance at an event in her honor scheduled for this Friday. The oft-lauded Angelou was set to received the

Susan Rice has done it again. Defending the deal that freed Sgt Bowe Bergdahl from the Taliban, the national security adviser declared that Bergdahl had "served the United States with honour and distinction". [Snip] In the US military, walking off post isn´t regarded positively. Moreover, as I noted yesterday, Bergdahl´s unit--1st Battalion, the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment--lost seven men during its 2009-10 deployment. President Obama has given his own military a reason to hate him — not just be skeptical of him, but actively hate him — for releasing five senior Taliban commanders in exchange for a captured US soldier who appears to be a deserter. Here’s another. Those five Taliban commanders arrived in Qatar, under no evident guard of any kind, and got a hero’s welcome. The politics and legalities of all this are bad enough. We have a president knowingly breaking laws because he knows he can get away with it, and we have a government that has set the precedent

Des Moines, IA - State Sen. Joni Ernst has won the Republican primary for an Iowa U.S. Senate seat held for 30 years by retiring Democrat Tom Harkin. The 43-year-old Ernst won the nomination over five candidates. She´ll face Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley in the November general election. All the Republicans seeking the nomination described themselves as deeply conservative, but Ernst managed to stand out in part due to two television ads. One featured her on a farm, talking about her experience castrating hogs, and the other showed her firing a handgun. Ernst also received endorsements from a variety of groups and individuals,

Five years ago, I publicly raised questions about Bowe Bergdahl’s desertion from Blackfoot Company, 1-501 Infantry (Airborne), 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division. A few weeks after his so-called “capture” in late June 2009, three conflicting accounts had surfaced: U.S. officials told the Associated Press Bergdahl had “walked off” the base with three Afghans; the Taliban claimed on its website that “a drunken American soldier had come out of his garrison” and into their arms; and Bergdahl claimed in his Taliban “hostage video” that he had “lagged behind a patrol” before being captured. I asked on my blog: Were the

From the moment the father of Bowe Bergdahl took the stage with President Barack Obama, it was clear the Bergdahls were not an average US military family. Sporting a long, bushy beard that he refused to trim since his son went missing in 2009, Bob Bergdahl spoke Pashto, Afghanistan´s main language, and also a few words of Arabic at the White House press conference announcing his son´s release. Some critics of the deal to free the only remaining American prisoner of war have shifted their attention to Mr Bergdahl and his controversial statements. Just a few days before his son

The five sworn enemies of the United States are now in the Gulf state of Qatar, where they are free to come and go as they like, beyond the watch of American agents. Acting as commander-in-chief, President Obama exchanged five terrorist leaders for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. The rationale was that the United States leaves no soldier behind on the battlefield or in enemy hands. That is half of the equation. The disconcerting other half is that Bergdahl may have left behind his own unit and gone over to the enemy. In 2009, then Pvt. Bergdahl (automatically promoted in absentia to the rank of sergeant) left his frontline unit under the cover of darkness. Soon after, the Taliban reported him in their custody. For weeks, thousands of American soldiers risked their lives to
