US ready to give Congo $30m but
Kabila must not seek re-election

Kinshasa - The United States is prepared to give the Democratic Republic of Congo $30m ($18m) in aid for stability and democracy-building but wants President Joseph Kabila to agree to step down at the end of his current term in office, the secretary of state, John Kerry, said on Sunday. Kerry, who is on an African tour, said Congo´s government also needs to schedule elections soon. The vote is tentatively set for 2016, although a firm date has not yet been set. In a private meeting, Kerry said he urged Kabila to follow Congo's constitution in the upcoming elections, which would prohibit him from running for a third consecutive term as president.

Comments:
Isn´t this against some law that we as a sovereign nation doesn´t interfere directly in another country´s election? That´s what the CIA is suppose to handle. And, look, there´s Kerry all smiles with the current President. Where does all this printed tax money come from? Very interesting 0bama diplomacy. You know this has a sinister side and really a bad future foreign policy. Is this 0bama signaling US to pay him off NOT to run for a third term?

Well, I think the Congo is close to obama´s heart, Idi Amin and such. Birds of a feather, ya know.

I was once on a Pan Am flight years ago to Kenya, the stewardess told me they ceased fuel stops in Congo. Seems ole Idi would seize the plane, and use it for his personal use. Barry channeling Idi last 6 years.

We have absolutely zero national interest in this country. Whenever a leftist says there is nothing left to cut, remember that we pay someone to collect this money, someone to manage this money, someone in China interest because we run deficits, plus the $30M.

Let´s see. we are in Sudan, Nigeria to look for the missing girls, and the Congo with $30 million dollars and to look for that warlord CONY. It is a good thing the we only had to send 130 troop to the region. Although next year there is supposed to be over 3000.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the troops we have doing war exercises in Europe to keep Russia from invading Ukraine.

Thank God we have John (I really need a foreign policy victory right now) Kerry on the case.

With the outcome of Afghanistan´s controversial presidential election still in doubt, and uncertainty over Afghan forces´ ability to stand against the Taliban after most US forces withdraw, it´s hard to say with certainty what the US-led war there has accomplished, or failed to accomplish. But one thing is clear, as shown by latest quarterly report from the US Special Inspector General on Afghanistan Reconstruction: The $7 billion US program to eradicate poppy cultivation there over the past decade has been a flop. The country is today the world´s largest supplier of opium, the purified latex sap from the Papaver somniferum poppy species

VA fix could cost billions
Washington Times, by Jacqueline Klimas    Original Article

The VA’s data on patient wait times is so bad that Congress’s official scorekeeper can’t even calculate the costs for fixing the agency, and that has become a major hurdle as lawmakers push for a quick fix on Capitol Hill. The House and Senate each have passed bills to try to get a handle on the wait times and other problems afflicting care at VA clinics, but when negotiators from each chamber met last month to try to hammer out a compromise, they ran into problems over the cost. Sen. Richard Burr, North Carolina Republican, said they couldn’t even begin to debate what’s in the bill because the cost estimate produced by the

The Pentagon came as close as it has to date on Thursday to identifying a red line that would need to be crossed for the Obama administration to justify an aggressive U.S. military attack on the al Qaeda-inspired extremists who have declared a new Islamic state spanning the border between Syria and Iraq. The Defense Department’s top uniformed official said the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, which has seized vast territory over the past month, would have to become a serious threat to the U.S. homeland before the administration alters its existing strategy of collecting intelligence and advising the Iraqi military.

The US military’s top officer says Iraqi forces have shored up their defences against Sunni militants but would be hard-pressed to regain territory without outside help. General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said American advisers were still evaluating the state of the Iraqi army, and he suggested US military action was not imminent. General Dempsey told a news conference that Iraqi forces were not yet in a position to stage a major counteroffensive after being driven back by Sunni extremists in recent weeks. US military advisers in the capital found that Iraqi security forces are “stiffening,

Cairo - Two people were killed in clashes, and a bomb blast in a train wounded nine, security officials said, as police quashed protests marking the anniversary Thursday of Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi´s ouster. The violence came as the pro-Morsi Muslim Brotherhood-led Anti-Coup Alliance issued an aggressive rallying cry demanding a "day of anger" to mark the occasion. Nine people were wounded when a bomb hidden in a briefcase near a passenger seat exploded inside a train compartment in the Mediterranean city of Alexandria late Thursday, security officials and state media said.

An education advocacy group on Thursday threw down the first challenge to New York’s teacher tenure laws in the wake of a landmark court decision in California last month finding such laws there unconstitutional. A lawsuit filed in State Supreme Court on Staten Island argues that the tenure laws violate the State Constitution’s guarantee of a “sound basic education” by making it difficult to fire bad teachers and by protecting the most veteran teachers in the event of layoffs, regardless of their quality. The suit, filed against city and state education officials, names as plaintiffs 11 public school students whose parents belong to a
