Donald Sterling will fight to
keep Clippers, Garcetti predicts

Los Angeles Times, by David G. Savage

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 5/4/2014 2:49:10 PM

Washington - Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said he will continue to press Clippers owner Donald Sterling to give up his ownership of the NBA team, but said it may take a "protracted fight" before the 80-year-old billionaire agrees to sell. "He thinks he´s going to be the owner for a long time," Garcetti said Sunday on the CBS TV program "Face the Nation." Garcetti said he spoke to Sterling several days ago and said the owner did not seem to realize the effect of taped remarks that NBA officials say were made by Sterling about African Americans that became public. "He believes in his heart that he's a very good person"

What business is the LA mayor have in opening his yap on this? Fix the bloody potholes mayor. Fix the LA USD.

I love this line: "comments do not reflect Los Angeles and its commitment to diversity and tolerance."

You mean, tolerance like that which we should have for someone having a private conversation on his private phone? That tolerance? Or does tolerance have some different meaning. Like when blacks call each other ni$$ers and "it´s all good"?

Garcetti needs to understand something--the sword cuts both ways. If his behavior from now on is anything less than pure as driven snow, he better be prepared to step down. He better keep his arguments with his wife, yelling at his kid, perhaps a late night conversation with a mistress---he better be doing all that stuff very secretly.

And if not, he better be willing to step down immediately if we find out about it. He better make sure that his associates and friends are the perfect balance of racial makeup.

Because any act that isn´t pure would be considered something that we just all might be pretty "intolerant" about.

If he sells the team now he can probably get a fair price. If he waits he may lose more than sponsors.

The tide is starting to turn in Sterling´s favor on this at least to the extent he shouldn´t lose his team over something he said in private. His wife owns the team anyway,so it´s useless to try and take it.

Every time you turn around some thug athlete is walking away from spousal abuse or DUI manslaughter but the hypocritical left defends those people.

#4 thanks for the comment about his wife owning the team. I hadn´t heard that and it certainly would seem to complicate matters.

The other NBA owners can force a sale. But some are smart enough to know it can happen to them too.

If I was Sterling, now 80 years, I would set aside a few mil for living expenses and do the following:

1. Put the rest of my assets towards a legal team to tie up the NBA for years.
2. File to have the prohibition placed on hold pending the decision.
3.File slander charges against the next 25
´community organizers´ who just have to express their views irrespective of what they say.

This is comical as only California can do. The LA Times must think the nation trusts the words of anyone named Garcetti. Not me. Not thee, not the man behind the tree.

What are the credentials of Eric Garcetti that tells the NBA he knows what is best for the league, the owners, the players, fans and other "stakeholders"?

Move along. This is another stupid article by the moonbat LA Times.

Lotta heat but very little light.
* Sterling is the owner of record of the L A Clippers, not his wife.
* The by-laws of any association, such as the Ladies Bridge and Garden Club, can say what they want but it has no force of law. NONE!!!
* He cannot be forced to sell. Due process, contract law, property rights, judicial review, etc, have primacy.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel quietly notified Congress last week that the military is set to transfer six Guantanamo Bay prisoners to Uruguay as soon as next month, The New York Times revealed Wednesday. The deal has been waiting for Mr. Hagel’s approval since March, but stalled after the Obama administration received a wave of backlash for releasing five Taliban detainees to Qatar in exchange for the release Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. The administration did not give Congress 30-days notice in that deal, but argued it was still legal because any delay could have risked Sgt. Bergdahl’s life. California Death Penalty

A federal judge in Southern California ruled Wednesday that California’s death penalty was unconstitutional. The “dysfunctional administration of California’s death penalty system,” wrote Judge Cormac J. Carney of United States District Court, has led to “inordinate and unpredictable” delays in the execution of inmates. The delays, the judge wrote, means that sentences are carried out against only “a trivial few of those sentenced to death.” In essence, he wrote, sentences by juries have been transformed to “life in prison, with the remote possibility of death.” In making his ruling, Judge Carney vacated the death sentence of
