Obama cracks Christie bridge
scandal joke at White House

Star-Ledger [Newark, NJ], by Brent Johnson

Trenton — As expected, Gov. Chris Christie and the George Washington Bridge scandal were the targets of a few jokes at the White House correspondents´ dinner Saturday night. Even President Obama cracked one. During his remarks at the 100th annual black-tie dinner hosted by the White House Correspondents Association in Washington, Obama noted how Republicans and Democrats in Congress have repeatedly clashed over the last year — so much so that their disagreements led to the temporary shutdown of the federal government. "Washington seems more dysfunctional than ever," the Democratic president said. "Gridlock has gotten so bad in this town you have

Comments:
Get-along Republicans never learn; after that one-night stand, the Dems always and without fail discard them like a spent cigarette.

Zero´s deadpan joke about Washington gridlock was hilarious; he´s gotten just about everything he wants thus far, and is on path for more.

And, some creep from an NBC "sitcom" was on hand to poke fun at Christie´s weight; ever the classy bunch from those government propagandists.

Democrats know Bridgegate is much worse than anything Obama has done. Just listen to the media talking heads.

If Obama had a brain he would stay away from anybody´s scandal this shows he was missing the day brains were issued.

I think it is wrong for people to keep bringing up Christie´s weight. Would Hillary and Bill call foul if they brought up Hillary´s weight. She has obviously put on quite a few pounds and looks terrible. They could laugh at her hair, her fat legs and bottom, and the bags under her eyes. But that wouldn´t be fair; she´s a female. I think fair is fair. I don´t like to hear jokes about the way people look. It is more than mean.

Medical marijuana dispensaries in Berkeley must give some of their pot free of charge to low-income patients under an ordinance approved by the City Council. At least 2% of the marijuana each dispensary doles out needs to be given free to dispensary members who have “very low” incomes and are Berkeley residents, the ordinance, approved Tuesday, says. The ordinance also stipulates that free pot must be the same quality, on average, as the pot that other members buy. According to NBC Bay Area, the City Council has defined very low income as $32,000 a year for one person

A San Diego-based clothing company has landed in hot water over a photo showing its T-shirts featuring the body of a monkey paired off with a customized hanger depicting the face of an African-American boy. British filmmakers must now meet new targets for ethnic minority, gay and female characters on- and off-screen if they wish to continue receiving funding from Britain’s largest public film fund. The British Film Institute has revealed its “Three Ticks” scheme, which will be implemented in September to ensure diversity in films and behind the scenes, The Telegraph reported. Films must “tick” at least two of three criteria: on-screen diversity; off-screen diversity and “creating opportunities and social mobility,” the paper reported. In the first category, at least one lead character must be “positively reflecting diversity,”

Washington and Lee University expressed regret Tuesday for the school’s past ownership of slaves and promised to remove Confederate flags from the main chamber of its Lee Chapel after a group of black students protested that the historic Virginia school was unwelcoming to minorities. President Kenneth P. Ruscio’s announcement was a surprising move for the small, private liberal arts college in Lexington, which has long celebrated its Southern heritage. Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee served as the university’s president after the Civil War, his crypt is beneath the chapel, and the school has gingerly addressed its ties to the Confederacy

Hamas feels that it has been forced into a confrontation with Israel – one that it did not want at this stage because of its increased isolation and financial crisis. The massive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours have surprised Hamas and other Palestinian groups. Hamas apparently expected a limited response to the recent rocket attacks on Israeli cities and towns. But as the

President Obama’s ultimate weakness may be that he believes his own blarney. A year ago, Mr. Obama boasted in a “fireside” Web chat that his “is the most transparent administration in history.” There was not the slightest hint of irony. He may actually believe it.
