JOHNS ISLAND--Charleston County Republicans met for a barbecue stump and straw poll where incumbent U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham was a popular target of those trying to oust him. "We have six weeks to defeat Lindsey Graham or we are going to have six more years of Lindsey Graham," said Upstate businessman Richard Cash, one of six Republicans challenging him in the June 10 GOP primary. "He can have his arm around John Kerry for another six years if you don´t get engaged and get him out of office," added Spartanburg state Sen. Lee Bright.

The Tea Party needs to have its own primary process, to pick one candidate to support. 6 challengers is too confusing.

If Grahams opponents were narrowed down to one candidate, he would be beatable.

They need to narrow it to a candidate who can win. I want Graham gone, but not replaced by a Sharon Englewho will lose the seat for us.

If Graham loses the primary he´ll run as an independent; a la Joe Lieberman. One way or another, Graham will be on the ballot in November.

Here´s an idea! How about "we" allow S. C. to pick their own Senator and concentrate on the Senator in our OWN states? IMHO, outsiders, whether "tea party" or not, should not be interfering in Primaries in other states. Does Richard Lugar ring a bell? Until they can put up ONE primary challenger 5, 6, or 7 challengers to the incumbent is nothing but a division tactic that is more appreciated by democrats than Conservatives.

One thing for certain, several of the candidates are sock puppets backed by Democrat money. Sarah and Ted need to back the one with the best chance of winning against Graham, so that voters can know who has the goods to back up the rhetoric. There should be a runoff if one candidate fails to get a simple majority, as it´s done in TX.

When you have four candidates running under the aegis of the Tea Party, how do you know which is the authentic Tea Party person? All four TP candidates have been polling statewide in the single digits. Then you have candidate #5, the preacher who says that men commit adultery because women love their children too much (there´s a winning strategy); candidate #6, who apparently doesn´t even want to be a candidate; and candidate #7, who wanted to run against Graham´s purported homosexuality, although since his candidacy lasted about 24 hours one could justly say he "flamed" out.

This isn´t a primary; it´s a goofball free-for-all.

There´s a good chance with many running they can keep Graham under the 40% needed to eliminate a run-off. Here´s hoping the contenders achieve that. That primary needs to be closed as well so that the Dems/Libs cannot help select the one they want to challenge.

The number of Americans who see illegal immigration as the nation´s most pressing problem has spiked from 3 per cent to 17 percent since May, according to a Gallup poll released Wednesday. The surge of thousands of unaccompanied children illegally crossing the border from Mexico is being fueled by misperceptions about U.S. immigration policy rather than growing violence in Central American, according to a leaked report. The White House refused to comply today with a subpoena issued by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee demanding that the president´s official political adviser testify before Congress. The president´s Director of the Office of Political Strategy & Outreach, David Simas, was scheduled to appear before the Oversight committee today to state for the record that his work does not violate a federal law that bans most executive branch employees from engaging in political activity. But White House Counsel W. Neil Eggleston sent a letter to the committee last night saying Congress doesn´t have the authority to require the president´s chief

A Swedish court has ruled that an arrest warrant against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange on charges of sexual assault will stay in place. Mr Assange, who denies the allegations, has sought refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy in London for the past two years to avoid extradition. If he is sent to Sweden, he says he fears charges in the US over the leaking of secret government documents. [Snip] "All in all, the district court makes the assessment that the reasons for the arrest warrant offset the infringement and adverse effects the measure entails for Julian Assange," Judge Lena Egelin said.

Dozens of protesters on both sides of the immigration debate showed up in a small town near Tucson on Tuesday after the sheriff said the federal government plans to transport about 40 immigrant children to an academy for troubled youths - but the kids never arrived. The rallies demonstrated the deep divide of the immigration debate. One group waved American flags, held signs that read ´Return to Sender´ and ´Go home non-Yankees´ and said they would block a bus that was supposed to arrive with immigrant children aboard. It turned heated at times, with shouting matches and a group of

People who are most concerned about climate change use more electricity than those who believe it to be not so serious a threat, a government study has found. The Household Electricity Survey, commissioned by the Department for Energy and Climate Change, said that this discrepancy may be due to the fact that older people, who are most likely to not see climate change as a threat, are generally more frugal with their energy consumption: [Snip] However, even with over-65s removed, there is still only a weak trend suggesting that people who profess to care about the environment actually do more

The pontiff said today that such measures should include an information campaign on the dangers of the journey. He called on the international community to rise to the challenge and adopt ´new forms of legal and safe migration.´ Tens of thousands of children have streamed from chaotic Central American nations in recent months to the U.S. border, overwhelming the government´s ability to respond.
