Common sense calls for repeal
of Second Amendment

Seattle Times, by Jerry Large

I don’t believe the Second Amendment was ever intended to support the kind of gun craziness we contend with today, but since it’s always used to ward off any common-sense gun reforms, maybe we ought to just fix the Constitution and be done with it. Yes, I know the odds against that are immense, but maybe we could start by nibbling away at the idea that the Constitution is infallible or that the founders had the answers to everything. They were smart men but neither perfect nor prescient. One of the ways they showed how smart they were, was that they made

Fine. Let leftist politicos destroy their careers tilting at this particular windmill. And while they´re at it, I wonder why they haven´t called for the repeal of the First Amendment, as well. Common sense is being prepared to defend oneself minutes before the police can respond, eyeblinks after the threat manifests itself.

There was a point in my youth where I didn´t like all the guns in our country but even then I didn´t want to repeal the Second Amendment because I thought that would start people wanting to repeal others - this guy starts in precisely that direction because he and his friends find the Constitution to be an impediment to tyranny. I am not religious but in this case I still thank God for helping our founding fathers implement such an impediment to tyranny so I can be spared the tyranny of imbeciles like Mr. Large.

What happens when law-abiding citizens are all unarmed and a bunch of bad guys move into your neighborhood? Think about your kids Jerry if you aren´t smart enough to consider the position you have put yourself into.

jerry large deserves credit for honesty. He wants to abolish the 2nd Ammendment, and said so. schumer, pilosi, feinstein, durbin and all the others take a more deliberate, disingenuous approach. Thus, they´ll pursue incremental steps on gun control until democrats have the votes to attain the ultimate goal as detailed by mr. large.

Jerry, within a year, the number of murders (doesn´t include suicides or self defense) with guns in Georgia is going to fall way down. People who want to kill numbers of people are going to go where the citizens aren´t armed. Same with carjackers and smash and grab thieves.

The Amendment the Left hates most is the 1st. Freedom of speech is the first thing to go under any Leftist regime. They can´t come out and say it, but you know they´d "amend" the 1st Amendment in a heartbeat if given the chance. But the way their New Inquisition is going these days - swimmingly! - they may not need to. We´re steps away from any disagreement with The Lords of Tolerance and Fairness, even in the privacy of your bedroom, being labeled and prosecuted as a thought-crime.

Once again, someone does not understand the underlying principle of the Bill of Rights. It does not enumerate rights given to us by government, which would be necessary for government to be able to take away the rights by repealing the Amendment. Rather, the Bill of Rights enumerates the fundamental rights that we have as sovereign citizens, and which government has no power to take away.

We MUST stop this erosion. These tyrants are destroying our country and nobody is stopping them. Wake up, everybody!!! The only thing that is keeping this from happening is a one justice majority on the Supreme Court.

If the lie-berals get the majority on the Supreme Court, a couple of low level activist judges will be able to dismantle the 2nd amendment, and the Supreme Court will fully support them.

All this judicial activism we have been seeing in this country on all sorts of topics has just been a test run for this. See how they have gotten away with ramming sodomite "marriage" down our throats -- not by legislative action (which has strongly supported traditional marriage), but by activist lie-beral judges changing the law with a swipe of their pens.

I applaud Jerry for admitting that until such time as the second amendment is repealed, citizens have the right to bear arms. He, at least, has faced up to the fact that trying to abolish that right by other means is both illegal and wrong. If he can find enough citizens to agree with his position, then so be it, but amending the constitution is the only constitutional way to extinguish the right.

Last year, two men claiming to be members of the Cherokee Nation who had traveled from Oklahoma came to Seattle with a simple goal: score some scrap copper. Dressed in beads and fringed suede, with one wearing a cap that said “Native,” they headed to the offices of Seattle City Light, where they chanced upon its superintendent, Jorge Carrasco, in the lobby. They told him they ran a nonprofit that taught disabled children how to make jewelry and needed some copper wire. Minutes after meeting them, Carrasco authorized the men to be given some scrap. BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The state Fish and Wildlife Department doesn´t know what killed a cougar found on a beach in Bellingham. The Bellingham Herald reports the young adult male weighed about 110 pounds and showed no obvious signs of injury or disease. The big cat´s carcass was found Friday by a man walking on Squalicum Beach. Wildlife Officer Ryan Valentine speculated it may have eaten something poisonous or possibly drowned. It´s unusual to find a cougar on a beach but the predator may have been looking for deer, using Squalicum Creek as a travel corridor. The department says the carcass was taken into

In the season of resurrection, it’s fitting that he’s with us once again — bearded, prophetic, moralistic, promising to exalt the humble and cast down the mighty from their thrones. Yes, that’s right: Karl Marx is back from the dead. Not on a Soviet-style scale, mercifully, and not with the kind of near-scriptural authority that many Marxists once invested in him. But Marxist ideas are having an intellectual moment, and attention must be paid. As Timothy Shenk writes in a searching essay for The Nation, there are two pillars to the current Marxist revival. One is the clutch of young intellectuals Shenk dubs the “Millennial Marxists,”

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security.
