Veterans Secretary Eric
Shinseki is missing in action

Washington Examiner, by Editorial

Like most presidents before him, President Obama has surrounded himself with a cabinet full of gray non-eminences. With the notable exceptions of Hillary Clinton, Leon Panetta and Kathleen Sebelius, Obama´s department secretaries have been little known to most Americans. Even so, were there to be an award for the most obscure Obama cabinet secretary, it would undoubtedly go to Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki. His department is the federal government´s second-biggest bureaucracy -- only the Department of Defense has more employees -- and it is supposed to care for the noble men and women who served this country in

Shinseki is the worst example of a boot-licking political general. He got where he is today by sucking up to Clinton and Congressional Democrats, and he has never strayed from the party line, good little toadie that he is.

Such a despicable entity who should be replaced SOON. Our military never volunteered to be chimps in a lab run by lib nuts. They deserve and will always deserve our thanks and anything else we might be able to give them. The way our government is treating these men and women is shameful, especially when one notices the non-equality in the way the ´elites´ are treated.

Obama generally appoints people to positions like that who he can turn into essentially "yes men" for the White House. Look at Hagel as an example, and why should Obama have to order Shinseki to investigate, something Shinseki should have done of his own volition, as soon as he got a whiff of what was going on in that VA hospital.

FIFA´s No. 2 official has said he´s "amazed" by the levels of drunkenness in Brazil´s World Cup stadiums, reviving a debate over whether alcohol sales should have been allowed at matches in the first place. In an interview with Brazil´s sports television network SporTV, Jerome Valcke acknowledged Monday that "maybe there were too many people who were drunk" at the matches and pointed to the connection between inebriation and violence. Brazil banned alcohol sales at soccer matches in 2003 in a bid to curb fan violence. But Budweiser is a major World Cup sponsor and the tournament´s organizer, FIFA, insisted Brazil

Non-Citizen Driver’s Licenses

DENVER - A new kind of driver’s license for non-citizens will soon be available but even before the Department of Motor Vehicles can issue them, advance requests are clogging up the system. Tens of thousands of drivers in Colorado are calling the DMV to register for the new ID which is clogging the system. Those licenses are the result of a law passed last year that aims to improve public safety by making sure every driver in Colorado, regardless of their legal status, has a license. The law doesn’t take effect until Aug. 1 but the DMV began making appointments

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has declared itself a caliphate, renamed The Islamic State, and named its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the caliph, and demanded that all Muslims worldwide pledge allegiance to him. Al-Baghdadi has called upon all Muslims to relocate to his caliphate to wage war against non-Muslims. Many have ridiculed and denigrated this declaration; few have realized its implications. The restoration of the caliphate has for decades been the central goal of jihad groups worldwide. The caliphate (khilafa) was from the beginnings of Islam until the early twentieth century, at least among Sunnis (who constitute

The organization responsible for securing America’s highly sensitive nuclear sites has been suffering from a “chaotic” and “dysfunctional” security policy that has endangered the country’s nuclear sites and left them vulnerable to attack, according to a new report by the government’s watchdog group. The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), which is tasked with managing the nation’s nuclear stockpile and securing classified research sites, has “increased risks and reduced security” over the past several years in a bid to reduce overhead costs, according to a new Government Accountability Office (GAO) report. Security vulnerabilities at these NNSA sites still persist two years after a

On Tuesday afternoon, President Barack Obama continued his streak of railing against Republican “obstructionism” in Congress, taunting the rival party for “doing nothing” while threatening legal action against the president to curb executive authority. Speaking near the Key Bridge in Washington, D.C., Obama implored Congress to continue funding for the Federal Highway Trust Fund, and suggested that the political system is currently rigged in favor of those who aren’t in need, by those lawmakers who refuse to take action. “So far this year, Republicans in Congress have blocked or voted down every serious idea to strengthen the middle class—not ideas that are

President Obama will acknowledge Monday that there is no hope for legislation overhauling the immigration system in Congress this year and announce he is redirecting immigration enforcement from the interior of the United States to the border. The action, which beefs up efforts to stem illegal immigration across the border but could slow efforts to deport undocumented immigrants already in the country, is one of series of executive actions Obama will pledge since the House decided not to take up immigration legislation this year. The announcement represents the ends of hopes in the White House and elsewhere that the House might pursue legislation to strengthen the nation’s borders and immigration enforcement while also providing a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. The Senate passed such a bill last year.

Here’s one political paradox: A substantial majority of Americans do not fit neatly into the conventional “liberal” and “conservative” boxes, yet there is no coherent political center. Those who dream of a middle-of-the-road third party are destined to be disappointed. Here’s another: Groups broadly sympathetic to the Democratic Party significantly outnumber those sympathetic to the Republican Party. But in the smaller but influential universe of the ideologically committed, conservative Republicans outnumber liberal Democrats. The larger Democratic coalition has mixed convictions while the smaller Republican core is filled with passionate intensity. Every decade or so, the Pew Research Center sorts the U.S. electorate

Michelle Obama took some heat in 2008 for saying that, "for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country..." As it turns out, that sentiment isn´t all that unusual on the far left of American politics. According to a new Pew Research Center study, only 40 percent of consistently liberal Americans say they often feel proud to be Americans. The other 60 percent say that doesn´t describe them. The finding is contained in Pew´s new "Political Typology" report, which breaks Americans down into seven different categories -- rather than the usual three. A three-course lunch hosted by an eccentric Chinese millionaire for 250 homeless New Yorkers in a posh restaurant degenerated into fury when guests were denied $300 cash handouts. It had seemed such a good idea. Recycling tycoon Chen Guangbiao last week took out ads in American newspapers promising a first-rate meal at the Boathouse in Central Park and $300 each. Guests were bused in and treated to a sit-down meal of seared tuna, filet mignon and seasonal berries, waited on by staff in suits and bow ties, but anger flared over the cash no-show.

Mrs. Obama went to the annual meeting of the American School Counselor Association in Florida to thank counselors for taking on a demanding job without the resources necessary to meet the challenges. President Obama’s displeasure with gridlock in Washington — and with the Republicans he blames for it — has been rising for months. This week it has boiled over. His disdain for congressional Republicans has steadily increased; his disrespect for their tactics has hardened into contempt.
