GOP foolish to think
ObamaCare is fixable

New York Post, by Betsy McCaughey

Original Article

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), the No. 4 House Republican, is walking back comments attributed to her that ObamaCare can’t be repealed. But she’s not the only one suggesting Congress merely make changes within the framework of the health law. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) says the goal is to get the law “fixed.” It seems many GOP lawmakers still haven’t read the law, or they’d know the framework is corrupt. Even Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) speculated Friday that repeal is unlikely because it will be “difficult to turn the clock back.”Nonsense. Even by the most inflated administration claims,

Ask anyone that advocates "fixing" the law if they have read it, then which of the 2000(?) pages of law or 20,000(?) pages of regulations are they going to start with.

Obamacare (PPACA) is not fixable. What cannot be repaired is the unworkable notion that the Federal Government has the ability to make 200 million local decisions. Any attempt to turn health care into a set of global laws is doomed to failure from the outset.
You see, we are all unique. No two individuals have the same medical needs, the same bodies, or the same goals. Only the free market has the flexibility to make individual provisions for individuals.
The notion that one size cannot fit all is what makes me a conservative. The available evidence confirms this view: every government which has instituted global systems has come to harm.
So don´t fix it. Repeal it.

Tiny suggestion: Let Congresscritters and their staff be covered by the real version of this monstrosity, not by a heavily-subsidized platinum plan. Then we will see how "fixable" they think it is.

First it was Harry Reid, followed by Nancy Pelosi, telling us how Obamacare is ´The Law of the Land.´

Once, so was slavery and abortion. We all know what happened to both of those.

Now, we have members of our own party trying to convince us that Obamacare is ´fixable.´

What needs to ´fixed´ is the selective hearing difficulties our elected officials experience.

This was never about ´´health care´´. There was never a huge public outcry for massive and drastic changes to out health insurance or medical care delivery industries.

This IS and always has been the pro-regressives´ wet dream to access and control every aspect of our lives. Get every uppity American in a giant, intrusive government database and deny service to anyone who has violated the official declared health risks.

Our electeds should just kill this monster completely and try to get all the claws out.

What an astute politician Ms. Rodgers must be. Her party base is screaming from the roof tops REPEAL and she come up with a disastrous answer. If she is forth ranking member it tells you something about Republican leadership in the House. All of Boehner´s people are suspect and need to be cleaned out of the leadership if not out of the House itself.

The GOP is in for a shock. They assume they will sweep the elections in Nov. They have no idea how many of us won´t vote for them either. Rove, Bush, Romney - they all think this is a viable election ploy. Millions of us have had enough with broken glass voting. I will not do it again.

If Obamacare is not repealed it will simply mean that Drs. will be like dentists - and more appropriately veterinarians - in accepting cash up front, only offering to file with the notion that your insurance payments will be passed back to the patient as a form of refund.

Given the high (and soon to be higher) deductibles, those payments will be relatively rare - only in cases where patients have run up really big bills. A typical year´s outlay for a policyholder will be maybe $2,000 in bills covered by the policy but not paid out due to unmet deductibles, $6,000 in premiums. But free mammograms and contraceptives.

Where will the money from the premiums go then? To the really sick, formally deemed uninsurable because of preexisting conditions? Even they will have to come up with the 20-40% that is their share of any $100,000 billings.

I don´t see how anyone is going to like these plans once they realize how much they are left on the hook for.

This post is not about Obamacare, but maybe then again it is. A couple of weeks ago I went to a walk in clinic as I had a sinus infection starting and wanted to get on top of it. The young lady with me in the room went through my whole health history (from her little laptop), including surgeries. I had been to the walk in clinic a few times previously. Yesterday I went to my knee doctor, had been there before many times, and again the young lady with her laptop took me through my whole health history, asking questions as she went. It wasn´t asked but I almost offered that no, I didn´t have a gun. Wondered if this was something mandated by o´care.

It´s really frustrating that information like this article can´t be disseminated to the entire country. It just might make a difference in the attitudes of the lo-fo´s. As such, Ms. McCaughey is preaching to the choir. The Post just doesn´t have a large enough circulation.

And more and more, I´m seeing that the "establishment" RINO´s are nothing more that Dim lites. They don´t seem to give a hoot about the countrymen (and women). All they seem to care about is their own position and how much control they can exert on the public. And their own re-election of course.

#27 is correct. The mantra of jackasses like Rogers is ´mend it, don´t end it´. The republican frauds and hustlers in DC are part of the progressive duopoly, that hasn´t repealed a law in 100 years. But the rino posters insist the solution is, you guessed it; more republicrats! Why of course.

I’m glad I’m not in a foxhole with some of you on this site. Did it ever dawn on you that we are coming to a midterm when rhetoric is used to gain some independent voters? Have you missed the 40 some repeal zerocare bills passed in the House that died in the Senate? Doesn’t it occur to you that some of the politicians are saying that we could look at fixing it knowing full well that it can’t be fixed? Did you notice that right now we only have knives in this gunfight?

Go ahead and stay home, but keep your griping to yourself about being force fed a lefty diet that you surrendered to. I’m voting, and I’m voting for the best I can get. And before I am reminded about what happened the last time we controlled both houses, I want to point out that the control was so weak, it only took one Senator to jump ship to give that control away.

Politics is like a poker game, a lot of bluffing happens. You want us to go “all in” when all we have is a King high hand. The other players are the rat party, the press, Hollywierd, every minority, academia, the unions, and the lo-fos - and they’re showing each other their hands plus peeking at the deck. You can’t win the game just because you want to, you have to play smart.

I know if a rat wins, there is no chance of my concerns being addressed, at least with a RINO, I might be heard. If we want to succeed against zero, we NEED the Senate majority and we NEED to scare the remaining rat Senators so they feel that they’re next in line at the guillotine.

#29. If the GOP had 100 Senate seats and 435 House seats; they would NOT repeal Obamacare! Why? Because since post-Civil War they have chronically been the party of government w/a voting record that proves it. They stand for nothing but getting re-elected to do ´more politics´. And that is the underlying theme of this thread.

#31, you make a grandiose statement out of frustration, and that is the theme of this thread. When Newt and company secured the House it was the first time in 43 years that the GOP had control. That was the time of the Contract with America and they followed up with their promise to bring all of the Contract’s issues to the floor for passage. The most glaring accomplishment was their success in impeaching Slick Willie – how did that work for you. We thought that the rats in the Senate would rise up for justice, it just proved that the press could give them cover by changing the narrative from perjuring to a Grand Jury to “it’s just about sex”. It was a noble quest that served to give the House back to the rats. Many that did our bidding lost their seats, where were you true believers then?

I am in no way championing the GOP as fantastic, but I am willing to face the reality that they are like divorce lawyers, I want the best I can get to represent me even though my mother would talk more highly of me. Going it alone will result in losing everything. And right now, I’m witnessing us losing everything. Complaining about politicians acting like politicians is like complaining that fish are wet.

I part company with those who talk about bringing out the guns, not because I fear the consequences, but because I won’t stand side to side in battle with someone that I can’t trust to be by my side at the voting booth before it descends into armed resistance. It doesn’t matter what’s in it for me, it is what’s in it for us that matters.

#33. Fair enough as different opinions are expected. Put simply, I argue that the GOP will never change as it has no incentive to. Voting for them just encourages the same behavior. Its been a party of government and corporate interests; who pay its lunch tab; since inception and cares squat about traditional principles and plain people. To achieve transformational change, one has to change. Believing otherwise is the triumph of fantasy over reality.

Hate to break it to the Repeal Now folks, but, it´s ..impossible..Constitutionally..to repeal Obamacare
until at least Friday , January 20 , 2017.
Assuming a Republican wins the presidency.
And they maintain control of the House and Senate.
And they have a complex and detailed plan to replace it.
Umm.even if Republicans control the Senate in 2015, they will not have the 66 votes
needed to override Obama´s veto.
They only have 45 votes now.
Limbaugh and McCaughey and the rest of the Repeal Now crowd are either idiots or think you are.
Limbaugh always tells his audience that
Republicans don´t want to repeal Obamacare ,
otherwise they
would have done it by now.
Someone should send Limbaugh a copy of the Constitution and the present number of Senate Republicans
so he might get a clue.
Article 1 Section 7.
Limbaugh math must be that 45 = 66.
Replacing Obamacare will take years ,
you can´t remake an insurance market and reorder the healthcare system in 24 hours.
Anyone who is expecting an overnight solution is in for a big letdown.

Limbaugh and all other sane people know that repeal of Obamacare is not possible now. That is not in dispute. The issue is the Rinos like Ol´ Sad Eyes Boehner and McConnell are interested in keeping the monstrosity because it gives them immense power by expanding the government. The House can use defunding and verbal assault until they have the numbers to repeal it, but the establishment politicians simply are not interested in repealing the law.

Do you recall when the White House goof said Obamacare can not be repealed because it is "settled law". If that is the case goofball, what can be repealed - non-law??

Obamacare, like any other law, can be repealed if there is the will to do it. That will is depending on an awaking of the public. And that awaking requires people to learn to ignore the propagandistic media and to get a grip on reality.

If and when that happens, they will elect conservatives and not be satisfied with those Republicans who have very little that is uncommon with the Rats.

Obama has plans to keep a residual force there for a period of time in order to maintain stability and contain the Taliban, both in Afghanistan and across the border in lawless regions of Pakistan, where jihadis are active. But President Hamid Karzai has refused to sign a deal, and now the election to replace him is

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
