Veterans Affairs officials purged 1.5
million unfinished medical orders

Washington Examiner [DC], by Mark Flatten

More than 1.5 million medical orders were canceled by the Department of Veterans Affairs without any guarantee the patients received the treatment or tests they needed, the Washington Examiner has found. Since May 2013, veterans´ medical centers nationwide have been under pressure to clear out 2 million backlogged orders for patient care or services. They were given wide latitude to cancel unfilled appointments more than 90 days old. By April 2014, the backlog of what the agency calls “unresolved consults” was down to about 450,000. What happened to other 1.5 million appointments is something that no one, including top officials at the veterans’

Appalling, just bloody appalling. Unfortunately, it´s also a precursor of what fully-implemented Obamacare will bring.

While our brave veterans, who voluntarily signed up to help protect us and keep us safe languish in VA hospitals and who are often found homeless upon their return from duty, Berry, Michelle, and their extended family, along with an unseemly amount of hanger-oners, including all the extra added security, jets, chefs, hairdressers, manicurists, blah blah, blah paid for by plundering from we tax-payers, enjoy a life not even many royals would dare to openly flaunt. How can American citizens stand by and allow this to happen? We the people need to stop this madness and channel funds to places in need rather than the places in "greed!" I´m sick of the Washington elitistm!

This makes my blood boil.
Since cutting veteran´s benefits, we have Congressmen and Senators complaining their salaries aren´t enough; that living on $174,000.00 a year is difficult. Meanwhile, the average pay for those in uniform is around $22,000.00 a year.

Oh, did I mention that neither the Congress or Senate gave up anything, and that nothing was ´cut´ from their salaries/perk packages?

Pray for our Veterans. Many of those in charge of the VA´s throughout the country are lying about the numbers of veteran suicides, and destroying Veteran´s medical records.

Meanwhile, illegals and unwed mother´s get the red carpet treatment.

This is just a sneak preview of what´s to come for the vets. For the rest of us especially those of us who are longer in the tooth, it´s just a matter of time now before the death panels are up and running and then we will all notice people just disappearing.

Free advice to LDotters on hospitals and clinics: On some level, doctors and medical people in general have your best interests at heart. But they are real people just like you. They lose track of things and they procrastinate. When you or your loved one seem to be getting poor care, make a phone call. Have a discussion with a supervisor. Change providers if necessary. Most important of all - write everything down in an organized fashion. When a medical person sees that you are noting times, names and the content of conversations, they will snap to and start paying attention to your case. No threats are necessary. They may be lazy but most of them are not stupid.

This is not to say that you may not have to call a lawyer eventually. But persistent and mindful monitoring will take care of things in most instances.

This is one of the most sickening, outrageous, infuriating things I have read!! All the while Obama and his grifter wife blather on and on about how much they care about the military and their families. As usual, we all know they are lies and those in the military are used like everything else for their political benefit.

Again, Obama will saunter out to a microphone (if he says anything at all) and make some contrived statement saying that he won´t rest until he gets to the bottom of this, blah blah blah. It was bad enough reading about 40 patients in Arizona dying and now this horrific criminal behavior. The Republicans had better come forward and show their outrage instead of hiding meekly in the shadows. How long now is that list for articles of impeachment?? This is intolerable what is happening in this country!! Those fools in the White House were concerned enough to make a statement about some savage that took 40 minutes to die. Will they pretend to even care about this? Whatever they say will be insincere and superficial anyway.

The VA is a two pronged problem. They also process claims for disability. Veterans´ Cfiles and applications have been found in dumpsters in Waco, TX and St. Petersburg FL.
My spouse filed in 2006 and his claim was approved in 2012, 4 months after he died.
I suggest putting all veterans on Medicare with Tricare for a secondary. Close the VA hospitals, let them choose from the best facilities around the country.

It is not true there is no audit trail. Look here. How were those records purged. IT would have had to have done it based on some criteria, probably age of record. A mass purge would indicate no treatment. Only records removed on a case by case basis as patient issues were resolved would indicate treatment. This is a coverup by the VA. More lies from the bureaucrats. I am a former auditor, don´t give me a bunch of hogwash that there is no record.

This is how governments manage delivered service. They get behind. When it make a local technocrat look bad, they are faced with either seeing more patients, ignoring the unfinished orders, or cheating. This is what ObamaCare will look like when they finish off the insurance market and go to single payer.

Stories like this have been circulating around the VA every since I can remember. And I personally have a friend that the VA made a permanent cripple by bungling a medical procedure on his spine. Our military men and women deserve much better that this. Heads need to roll.

One word to my fellow Ldotter vets who say they have never signed up for the VA Healthcare system. What are you waiting for? Get out your DD-214 form and go in and sign up. Join the Disabled American Veterans,dav.org , get a rep on your side and fight for everything available to which you have earned as a result of your service. I did it about 6 years ago, and now I have the best medical care ever, plus after going through medical and psychological screenings and testing they have awarded me 60% disability for varying things and that amounts to over $1000 a month. Don´t tell me that you don´t want to do it. Just do it. The system sucks and you have to work your rear end off for everything, and do everything your vet rep tells you to to, but in the end it is definitely worth it. I did it, and so can you. Hoooah!

Typical government mindset in action. My VA experience: when my dad died the funeral home helpfully sent me paperwork for VA burial benefits which I sent in. I get back a form letter asking for proof of his service. Like they don´t have that available? After being in their care for several years they need proof now? They wanted the original Honorable Discharge assuring me it would be returned. Yeah, right. So I sent a copy explaining that the 1945 original was too fragile to send. That was weeks ago, not holding my breath either.

#13 is assuming that the VA is modern enough that these records were on a computerized system. The VA is still using pencil and paper system for processing some VA claims. Maybe the hospitals, or at least some parts of them, are more modern.

Federal employees, like all Americans, are entitled to hold passionate political beliefs. Most executive branch federal employees, however, may not engage in certain political activities, thanks to an anti-conflict of interest principle enshrined in a federal law called the Hatch Act. To wit, President Bush requested the resignation of his GSA administrator in 2008 after the US Office of Special Counsel determined she had violated federal law by participating in a video conference with Karl Rove and sending out partisan letters. That´s up from 5 percent in June, and is the highest number Gallup has registered for immigration since 2006, when 15 percent said it was the nation´s most pressing problem. How would you feel if someone promised to give you a car, and then reneged on that pledge? That’s how all Americans should feel when it comes to ObamaCare -- because Barack Obama’s failed and discredited campaign promise to lower health insurance premiums has cost the average American family an amount equal to the price of many new cars. During his 2008 campaign, one of then-Senator Obama’s most audacious promises was that his health plan would reduce premiums by $2,500 for the average family. His repeatedly made his pledge on videotape; you can view those promises here. But health insurance premiums

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the
