Clayton Lockett died Tuesday night. The State of Oklahoma executed him. Something happened in the process of executing Mr. Lockett. It did not go as planned. Witnesses say he writhed and shook on the table. Twenty minutes after the lethal injection had been administered, Mr. Lockett died of a heart attack.(Snip)One person who will not weigh in on the merits of Clayton Lockett’s execution is Stephanie Neiman. Clayton Lockett tried to rob a house Miss Neiman was at. She tried to fight him off. He and his accomplices overwhelmed her. They beat her, bound her with duct tape, taped her mouth shut, shot

A botched execution is where it takes three of four swings of the ax man´s blade. Or the shooting squad has to reload say a dozen times. A convict that kinda wakes up from anasthetic drugs is a bad dream, not a botched execution.

I guess his victim did not die because of cruel and unusual punishment. We need to find a faster, better way to do what the jury wanted done. This person was a monster and does not come close to needing our concern.

He lived almost 15 years longer than Ms. Neiman, and then expected to gently drift off to sleep to never feel the pain of death.

Kindness to the guilty is hateful to the innocent victim, and the family that has been mourning for 15 years.

The singular item I´m in agreement with in the muslim world is after the sentence is given, it is administered.

I just read here in Kalifornia a man sentenced to death in 1988 had his sentence reconfirmed yesterday!
26 years of appeals!

And BTW, I don´t think the OK execution was botched. The end result was acheived!!

Was Clayton Lockett a man or an animal? Did his torture bring any consolation to his actual victims or did it just make people sitting in comfortable homes feel some sort of thrill? Lockett lived for 15 years after his evil crime without endangering anyone - he could have liked another 15 and no one would have noticed.

Be careful cling for real justice folks - you might get it.

It´s ridiculous to spend money on lethal injection drugs, cyanide gas, electricity, firing squads, etc. A rope costs a few bucks, is endlessly reusable, and most states have an ample supply of trees. As the great actress Jane Darwell said in The Oxbow Incident: String Him Up.

The whole point of execution is for society to make a statement that we disapprove of the crime so strongly that we will have the courage to perform an execution no matter how appalling the taking of a life in an execution might be.
This is how Morton Kondracke expressed his support for capital punishment about 20 years ago. And it stuck with me.

When we try to sanitize it or beat ourselves up about it we detract from that statement. And those that might be inclined to commit heinous crimes are less deterred.

When the anti death penalty people get the method changed to something so painless as lethal injection they are in effect saying that they don´t really disapprove very strongly of the heinous crime that was committed.

#16, Lockett lost the right to even 15 minutes more life after his conviction. What he did in the course of taking a life was despicable and monstrous.

I have no problems calling for justice for the families of victims like Ms. Neiman. The monster doesn´t just take the life of his victim, he also destroys the lives and futures of their families. That is something that doesn´t just go away.

I can think of even more hard hearted things that I could wish on this monster, but I am happy he got what he deserved, finally.

There was a report this evening on some bleeding heart in another country causing the pharmaceutical company to stop providing the drug to the US for executions as it was intended for epilepsy.

Why does the criminal have more rights than the victim ? How much did her cruel death punish her family for the rest of their lives ?

Sometimes things don´t go as planned...so what? That is life. He actually got off easier than he should have. Monsters like Lockett should get the electric chair or gas chamber--the tqo most brutal ways to die. Back then, those methods DID deter crime. Nobody wanted to fry or gag and convulse on poison gas...nobody. Miss Neiman deserved better, but I am glad that justice was finally served. Squirm in Hades, Lockett!

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida’s political landscape is being upended by a landmark legal ruling that one legal expert says could influence the way other states draw their congressional districts. A circuit judge ruled late Thursday that the state Legislature illegally drew Florida’s congressional districts to primarily benefit the Republican Party. Judge Terry Lewis ruled that two of the state’s 27 congressional districts were invalid and that the map must be redrawn. Justin Levitt, a law professor at Loyola Law School who tracks redistricting cases, called the decision a “big victory” for Florida’s voters that could be a model for other states to
