For Silver, removing Sterling as
Clippers owner easier said than done

Sports Illustrated, by Michael Rosenberg

What should the NBA do about Donald Sterling? The answer is easy if you are a columnist, or Magic Johnson or Michael Jordan or LeBron James, or a fan disgusted by the Clippers owner´s racist rant. You can say you are "obviously disgusted" (Jordan), that you will never attend a Clippers game as long as Sterling owns the team (Johnson) or that there is "no room" for Sterling in the NBA (James). You can be proud, knowing you took a stand. But if you are commissioner Adam Silver, the question gets complicated. People demanding that Silver get rid of Sterling

Interesting article goes on to say why previous NBA commissioner Stern (also a lawyer) did not take strong action against Sterling for past transgressions.

Mayor Kevin Johnston should have been removed from office when IG Walpin uncovered and documented his misuse of Americorp funds as well as City College of NY
Obama FIRED Walpin to cover up fraud by Johnston and keep fed funds flowing.
Johnston has some nerve pontificating about Sterling.
Racism cuts both ways.

Charles the Moron Barkley said this about the N ba...."This is a black league"....

Thats why I hate liberals so much, academia, media, and now this reverse racism from Barkley, all goes unpunished, hardly even discussed..

The N ba is a "black league"???

Hmmmm, what do we think about him saying THAT?

I do not understand how Silver can do any of this? Of course I´m not up to speed on the governing rules of the NBA Ownership/Leadership. However, if I were Sterling, I´d tell Silver and the rest of the "suits" to get stuffed. I´d then FIRE every player and coach, cancel the rest of the season for the Clippers and just go on vacation...without the x wife or the gold digger either. This is STILL America and a persons personal feelings are just that. I don´t condone Sterlings words but its really none of my...nor anyone elses, business.

This is the silliest non-issue in the news today. Heard some of the rant at the news conference. It seems the 7 foot basketball ´players´ have hurt feelings. I don´t watch basketball and now I know why. Just tall kiddies running up and down the court and then crying when they don´t win.

I think Mr. Silver should be fired for such a massive over-reaction, judgements made outside his authority, without other parties being heard, and without an impartial hearing. This punishment rises to the level of a criminal indictment, more heavy than for OJ´s murders, and yet, the only thing criminal that may have occurred is illegal taping of a private conversation. This is overkill and I want none of it.

Can´t wait until players call each other the n word. $100,000 fine, no doubt.

What you see is an emotional decision made only a few days after the gold digger former girlfriend sold the recordings to TMZ. I hope she was paid a lot of bucks. She will need all the cash she can get her hands on when she goes to court with Sterling´s wife. Look for Sterling to sue her and TMZ. There will be no money left for either party, and the former girlfriend will have to get a job. Unless Magic and her other buddies choose to support her. Sterling will own TMZ.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar -- a devout lefty -- has a much more intelligent take on this in a previously posted article:

What´s absurd is that everyone is freaking out about an oily rich, married guy saying something noxious to his young, gold-digging, girlfriend.

The whole relationship is slimy and the guy has just spread the right amount of money to the right people. Dems are lining up for the apology pay-offs and he´s going to go off into the sunset. And there will be another squirrel right behind him.

Unless your name is Lucianne, this is not your classroom and you have no authority. I am perplexed as to what the N ba is opposed to the NBA or National Basketball League. I will correct you as I deem necessary. You can´t bully me by threatening to lower my grade.

Just like Augusta is a private club and can set their own rules, the NBA has bylaws too.

I took no issue with your point on Barkley. I guess what he meant was the League is predominatly black, but it is not a black league. There are Asians, whites, hispanics, etc playing too. He is wrong.

Looks like a feeding frenzy to me. No question Sterling´s words are reprehensible and that he should get out of the NBA where he is, to put it mildly, unwelcome. Nevertheless, this whole thing now takes on a righteousness, a pent-up anger that smacks of fascism to me. No side in this is pure in heart, witness the L.A. NAACP preparing to give him a Lifetime Achievement Award award on the same dais as Al Sharpton, who certainly knew of Sterling´s past and impending NAACP awards.

#16 for the sake of everyone´s kids and grandkids, please tell us: at which college or university do you serve as a capitalized ´Professor´ (sic)? As others have noted, you´re also unaware of the meaning of ´subsist´.

I´ve seen hand-painted, overcapitalize signs like that in the deep south along the interstate.

Cliven Bundy described ´porch monkeys´ without using the term. Pure hateful racism from that idiot. Now a billionaire who was foolish enough to care about some party girl is upset about being cuckolded by African American urban troubadours and having that publicly rubbed in his face courtside. This plays into the Mandingo meme, exciting the long-held fears of white men losing their wimmin to tripod-like black men. All this goes to show that a guy should guard his heart, and never declare his closely held fears to someone who doesn´t really care. Especially if one is a billionaire and/or a public figure.

I´m detecting a lot of sympathy here for these idiot racists Sterling and Bundy. I, for one, condemn these racists. I also pity them for their stubborn, prideful ignorance.

What does the deep south have to do with it?

Sterling was fined 2.5 million dollars based on a (likely) illegal recording of a private conversation. He had an expectation of privacy at the time he made his remarks.

I just don´t see how this is legally actionable. If there were evidence of racial discrimination in his workplace practices (and there isn´t) then this recording wouldn´t even be admissible as corroborating evidence.

Do we still live in a free country? This appears to be a political purging, just like purging an executive for having given 1,000 dollars to an anti-gay marriage campaign, when at the time the president was on record supporting the same anti-gay marriage proposition!

On the other hand, the man in the photo that his girlfriend posed with (Magic Johnson) has supposedly expressed an ambition to own the Clippers.

Could this have been a setup? Listen to the tape - the g/f sounded like she was baiting him to make self-incriminating remarks.

Was this takedown on purpose to create a fire sale for the person that wants this team ? The girlfriend cleared had a script that would provoke him. What´s in it for her besides revenge ?

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida’s political landscape is being upended by a landmark legal ruling that one legal expert says could influence the way other states draw their congressional districts. A circuit judge ruled late Thursday that the state Legislature illegally drew Florida’s congressional districts to primarily benefit the Republican Party. Judge Terry Lewis ruled that two of the state’s 27 congressional districts were invalid and that the map must be redrawn. Justin Levitt, a law professor at Loyola Law School who tracks redistricting cases, called the decision a “big victory” for Florida’s voters that could be a model for other states to

Kvitova, a fitter, faster, and more focused version of the woman who won here in 2011, pulverized Bouchard, 6-3, 6-0, in a thorough and powerful game of yellow-ball keepaway. For the brief time she was out there, the seemingly stunned Bouchard, a 20-year-old Montrealer, found herself unable to buy a second’s respite or

MARIETTA, Georgia — A Georgia man who police say intentionally killed his toddler son by leaving the boy inside a hot SUV was exchanging nude photos with women the day his son died and had looked at websites that advocated against having children, a detective testified Thursday. Cobb County Police Detective Phil Stoddard testified at a hearing that evidence showed Justin Ross Harris was practically leading a double life and should not be granted bond. Stoddard described the evidence police have suggesting Harris, who is charged with murder, killed his 22-month-old son Cooper intentionally. Harris and his wife had two

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. [Snip] It can take up to 10 minutes for every radio, TV, cable and satellite provider to

In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. School Shootings: Widely Reported Tragedies Since 2000 - Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use

It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Obama in his own different way is heading towards Nixon-like levels of weirdness, as, beaten down by the failures regarding his ventures, he appears to have quit his own job. A.B. Stoddard of the Hill says in effect he has stopped being president and chooses to live in a world of his own, shutting out the problems that have become overwhelming, giving dinners where he talks

Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has warned all of his colleagues in Congress that President Barack Obama’s new immigration strategy—his plans to legalize millions of illegal alien adults through executive power—could destroy America as we know it. “I write to inform you of a development that threatens the foundation of our constitutional Republic,” Sessions, Congress’s top immigration hawk, wrote in a letter that was hand-delivered to all 535 members of Congress on Monday and provided exclusively to Breitbart News. Sessions cites a recent report from the National Journal, in which reporter Major Garrett detailed how, despite the ongoing

Attorney General Eric Holder encouraged Americans not to forget race while working for justice and equality in their country. “As it stands, our society is not yet color blind -- nor should it be -- given the disparities that still afflict and divide us.” Holder explained, “We must be color brave, and we must never forget that all are made better and more prosperous if all are given equal opportunities.” Holder made his remarks during a speech at Howard University on Tuesday for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Civil Rights Act. “We must take into account not only the

WASHINGTON — It was an enduring image of his presidency: a chastened Bill Clinton walking his dog while wife Hillary keeps her distance as the family leaves town at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal — but it was all part of a contrived public-repentance campaign, according to a new book. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
