NBA bans Donald Sterling for life

The NBA has decided to ban Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life from any affiliation with the team, commissioner Adam Silver announced Tuesday. The NBA also will fine Sterling the maximum amount of $2.5 million. On Friday, TMZ revealed a recording on which Sterling was caught scolding then-girlfriend V. Stiviano for posting online photos of herself and black celebs — including basketball legend Magic Johnson — and told her not to bring black people to “my games.” The NBA said it had confirmed it is Sterling’s voice on the recordings. “The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply

Better have the players clean up their language now. Mics are getting smaller and easier to hide. Did you know the sails on a clipper ship are "white?"

It´s long past time for the *thought police* to start banning, and fining, racist rappers who do far more damage to society than Sterling ever did.

I am not defending what he said, but can this really be happening in America?

Can one´s livelihood and property be taken away from them for comments they made in a private conversation?

The left needs to think about this really hard. They may not always be in control of the media and the thought police. What would happen if the right gets control?

This is no longer America.

This is a travesty, which we should all lament. Let who is without sin amongst us cast the first stone.

Dr. Ben Carson (and others) is exactly right, "political correctness is dangerous."

Donald Sterling is an American, one of us. We would do well not to rejoice in his sacrifice on the PC altar, especially considering the way he was entrapped and the motive(s) of the entrapper.

We must now accept:
1) That holding and expressing beliefs that are not "approved" can and will doom us.
2) That "privacy" has ceased to exist...beyond the NSA revelations.
3) We can trust no one. Even our most intimate partners will turn us in to the Thought Police...and we will be summarily judged in the biased court of public opinion.

In today´s America, nothing is

Of course follow the money. This man is disgusting and now that this is all public his ownership is hurting the investment in teams made by all 30 owners. The NBA depends on public approvall for all the teams. You can´t even buy a team without the approvall of the other team owners. This is not the same as buying the local corner drugstore or independent grocery store. Sterling has not lost his free speech. He can say whatever he wants to but in 2014 the public is not going to stand for a sports team owner like him. If Magic Johnson buys the Clippers so be it. Why shouldn´t he if he can put an investment group together. The problem is Sterling, not Johnson, the black players, rappers, or anyone else The NBA and the other owners, white and black, have a right to protect their investment, too.

This basically reinforces what I believed all along.

Big Sports is full of creeps and is all about money.

I have to laugh when I see idiots get all bent out of shape when "their" team loses, or wins for that matter.

As if this "team" has anything to do with their city. Teams filled with people from other cities that get bought and sold, and whole teams moving from city to city. Yet still, Sports Idiots get totally immersed in what these people do.

Ticket prices are ridiculous, players are obnoxious and quite often thugs, but if someone is making money, their behavior is allowed. If someone can be a scapegoat to keep the money flowing, so be it.

There is nothing, not one remnant left of the old days when players weren´t paid much but did it for the love of the game, people didn´t throw things at players, winning teams influenced people to have a good time at a party and not overturn cars, losing meant you griped at a bar after the game and not go out and BURN cars.

I couldn´t give a rat´s behind for any of these games--glorified losers out chasing a piece of leather around a field for big bucks and managed by other losers for the same end.

These people all sound like jerks, let them eat each other alive.

What if Mr. Sterling who is rich, rich, rich, and doesn´t seemed inclined to sell his team, decided to buy the player´s contracts and disband his team rather than sell it to the ones salviating over the opportunity to buy the team at bargain basement prices? Wouldn´t that cause a mess for those that think they have him over a barrel? They might have access to the players, but they would have to start a complete new team. Might not be so cheap after all. Seems like Magic Johnson´s name is in play and was named as someone Sterling didn´t want his little friend having her picture taken with. Ef he ends up being an owner eventually, it certainly makes the whole situation "interesting". I´m sure she knew Sterling well enough to know what buttons to push, to get the conversation going in the direction it did.

Shed tears for him because the others owners want to kick him out? No, and not because he´s a moron, which he is, but because he´s a racist which is so hard for some to admit. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel quietly notified Congress last week that the military is set to transfer six Guantanamo Bay prisoners to Uruguay as soon as next month, The New York Times revealed Wednesday. The deal has been waiting for Mr. Hagel’s approval since March, but stalled after the Obama administration received a wave of backlash for releasing five Taliban detainees to Qatar in exchange for the release Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. The administration did not give Congress 30-days notice in that deal, but argued it was still legal because any delay could have risked Sgt. Bergdahl’s life. A federal judge in Southern California ruled Wednesday that California’s death penalty was unconstitutional. The “dysfunctional administration of California’s death penalty system,” wrote Judge Cormac J. The delays, the judge wrote, means that sentences are carried out against only “a trivial few of those sentenced to death.” In essence, he wrote, sentences by juries have been transformed to “life in prison, with the remote possibility of death.” In making his ruling, Judge Carney vacated the death sentence of
