Some Conservative Media
Burned in Cliven Bundy Affair

Accuracy in Media, by Cliff Kincaid

Some “prominent Republicans and conservative news media outlets” are being accused by The Washington Post of rallying around the cause of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, who made derogatory comments about “Negroes” and has been discredited as a racist. But Glenn Beck, the prominent conservative TV and radio host, did not fall into the trap. He concluded early on that the Nevada rancher was “unhinged” and not worthy of support, after noting that some followers of radio host Alex Jones were “deeply embedded” with the Bundy family and preparing for a confrontation with federal agents. “These guys are dangerous. I´m not a follower of Glen Beck, but he called this one right. Hannity made himself look ridiculous. The ones who stayed quiet (Sarah Palin) came out best of all the punditry class and the politicians who refrained from comment benefitted from their silence.

It´s also pretty clear that the elitist, progressive thugs are longing for the day when they can take out and lynch anyone whose behavior/speech is contrary to their standards.

#1, I agree that Mr. Bundy´s views on the social makeup of the country is (or ought to be) unrelated to his fight with the feds. Sooner or later, he´ll have to move the cattle. He probably won´t have to pay the delinquent fees. His 160 acres are safe. Meanwhile the affected states are putting together plans for getting the federal government out of the public lands. That´s a very good thing, indeed.

I concluded, after he weighed in on the Bundy situation, that Beck was not worthy of support or the time of day. I still insist that what Cliven said was not racist. He observed people of all ages, while driving through a given neighborhood, sitting on the porch doing nothing and wondered if they weren´t happier when they were productive. I suppose I should add the tired disclaimer that "he could have said it more eloquently", but I understood what he meant.

OP, please show us the factual material that made Glenn Beck right and that Bundy was "unhinged" and racist.

Nothing Bundy said was racist.

Want to know who is unhinged? That would be bizarre Glenn Beck, the inappropriately grinning windbag that is the perfect example of why those in the middle of the road don´t take the tea party and conservatism seriously. I got suckered into Beck´s show early on, until his big promised inside information claims turned out to be BS--and he continued to act like a fool.

He lost his show over his antics, and I could care less about his worthless opinion.

When I read the whole script of the interview and not just the parts taken out of context it sounded to me like he was quite sympathetic to the plight of blacks. Is this all because he used the "outdated" term "negros"?

We already knew he was a nut. But nuts have rights too. And the government commonly overreaches when they use their power against the nuts. And no one seems to care. They overreached in Waco and killed over 80 Americans. The majority of which by the way were black. But black leaders said nothing because it was the Clinton administration and they were all buddies. I am pretty sure that if there had been wide condemnation of the government for Waco and many of the agents had been fired and some prosecuted - there would be a building in Oklahoma that would still be standing.
But the people that did Waco got promotions and raises and eventually will retire with big pensions. While some American nuts who were just minding their own nutty business have been burned to death.

Cliven Bundy may not have expressed himself as diplomatically as possible, but was he wrong? WAS HE WRONG? From what I read of his entire statement, he didn´t say anything that was much different than things said by Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams or Bill Cosby. If you make an entire community dependent on welfare and food stamps, then how free can they really be? And beside that, this whole noise is just a diversion from the central of governmental overreach. A thug government agency is trying to terrorize and silence American citizens by crushing in full Alinsky fashion one man because he stands in the way of Harry Reed´s plan to enrich himself.

Bundy´s biggest mistake was being old; from a generation that learned about freedom in school and held it precious.
What he doesnt understand is that the communists took over a long time ago, little by little. Bit by bit. The freedom so cherished by his generation has been replaced by the freedom to say anything you want, as long as it is on the approved list. He is a dinosaur.
To paraphrase and old saying to match modern times...I disagree with everything you say but will defend to the death your right to say it, unless it is inconvenient or not popular.
Even among so called conservatives, few are saying he was wrong. They are just saying he was wrong to say it. A pox on their politically correct houses.

It seems to me that the only thing Cliven Bundy is guilty of is being an old man who has not kept up with the currently permissible use of words and phrases these days. "Yeah, that´s the ticket. Let´s crucify the old generation for not being as hip as us." This administration is disgusting and dangerous.

These factors, unrelated to each other, a dispute between an old man and the federal government over grazing rights and the old man giving his view on the situation facing "Negros" and "Spanish people" in America sure brought a lot of fools out of the woodwork.

Interesting to see how the race hustling industry and the liberal media in the USA can hype up an old man using the obsolete term "Negro" into a big time act of racial discrimination.

If you back up a listen to what Cliven was trying to say, you would find out he was speeking the truth about today´s Black Slavery to the government and the damage it has done to Black males, females and families.
His mistake was in his annalogy; he compared it with Black Slaver of yester-years and there is no comparison. He made a fool of himself. Had he used a different example, he may have pulled it off; but instead, he gave the left and half of those on the right, a reason to discredit him and accuse him of being something he isn´t.

Too bad.

Kincaid’s BB gun was sure active in his broad array of largely unpertinent (IMO) assertions. Did some of his BBs hit his target? Maybe. High school kids employ a similar artifice when answering exam questions: Write enough and one of the assertions might be correct.

How ironic that it was an Alex Jones article (authored by Paul Joseph Watson) that showed exactly which words the New York Times and Media Matters (allegedly) EDITED OUT of the Bundy footage. It was Watson who quoted Bundy’s words before the New York Times and Media Matters (allegedly) EXCISED certain of Bundy’s words.

Some of what Bundy said . . . prior to the media purge . . . was:

“We’ve progressed quite a bit from that day until now, and sure don’t want to go back; we sure don’t want the colored people to go back to that point; we sure don’t want the Mexican people to go back to that point; and we can make a difference right now by taking care of some of these bureaucracies . . . .”

Even Raw Story conceded (while arguing against its own concession) that the New York Times edited the Bundy footage.

The reluctance of Hamas’s “military wing”—a misnomer for the more extreme elements of its extremist leadership—to accept the cease-fire designed by Egypt is, well, logical. Let’s admit it. They do not wish to accept defeat, and the Egyptian terms are a defeat for Hamas. By attacking Israel, what has Hamas wrought? Considerable damage was done to Gaza by Israeli air power, and Gazans will be picking up the pieces for months if not longer. But Hamas proved unable to kill one single Israeli with its hundreds of rockets, and all its special tricks—tunnels, longer-range rockets, a drone—also failed. Nor could

Two of the larger social trends of our time — the growth of payday gambling and the legalization of marijuana — have two things in common: They are justified as the expansion of personal liberty, and they serve the interests of an expanding government. The ideological alliance behind these changes is among the strangest in U.S. politics. Libertarians seek to lift governmental restraints on consensual acts. State governments seek sources of revenue without the political inconvenience of requesting broad tax increases.
