Lib Professor: Disney is Racist,
and Only Black People Like Jazz

Townhall, by Michael Schaus

Original Article

Don’t you just love classic Disney movies? Animated cinematic adventures that espoused the importance of life values, growing up, and racism… Well, that’s what some lefty professor is arguing at Syracuse University. Apparently, the Jungle Book is just chock-full of racism (and not because of “man-cub’s” strange desire to remain uncultured). Professor Robert Thompson told Yahoo Movies (um… this article was forwarded to me – like most people, I don’t actually visit Yahoo Movies) that the Jungle Book is racist because of something to do with Louie Armstrong. Apparently, when Mowgli meets the Ape King, young children are being brainwashed

Comments:
Note that this is a "professor", not a lowly student who may have misinterpreted a professors teachings.

Just as when a dullard is given glasses tinted the color red and believes everything in the world to be a shade of red an educated dullard seeing everything through racism tinted glasses is just as convinced of what they see as well.

Got Tea?

I love the way Michael Shaus points out that the racist here is the professor, not the people who made the Disney movie. If you do not already share his racist preconceptions there is no reason to make the racial connections he makes. Basically he says, "The movie is racist because certain bad characters in the movie act the way I perceive African-Americans to act."

The Jungle Book (1967, animated, five out of five stars) was the last production in the career of Walt Disney, who died in December 1966. Months before Disney had called Louis Prima, asking if he would do the voice of King Louie the Ape King. Prima responded, laughing, "Oh, so you´re going to make a monkey out of me, eh?" Even moreso than real apes, the animated King Louis has extremely long arms. How long? At some point during his song he plays jump-rope with his arms while scat-singing "Boo-p-ch boo-p-ch boo-p-ch boo-p-ch." Undoubtedly that´s too much for Professor Thompson to take lying down.

The entire movie is a joy with some of the most recognizable voices the era: Louis Prima, Phil Harris, George Sanders, Sebastian Cabot, Sterling Holloway, J. Pat O´Malley. (My favorite is Holloway as Kaa, the kaleidosssssscope-eyed python. If you haven´t seen it, what are you waiting for? Go get it!

And I´m uncertain what percentage of my jazz collection is performed by black musicians, but it´s probably very high, well above eighty. I don´t give two hoots about the skin color of musicians. I´m sometimes aware of it, but it´s not important. If what they play is good, I´ll enjoy it. Once Dizzy Gillespie--one of my earliest musical heroes--was asked if he believed that only black musicians could play jazz. Reportedly he said that although blacks (he used the Spanish word for black, as was common parlance during that time) were probably the best in that genre, whites can swing, too. Yes, we do. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.

Fending off persistent questions about his residency status, Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) noted in a radio interview last week that “my kids went to school” in Dodge City, Kansas, as a means of demonstrating his ties to the state he represents roughly 1,400 miles away in Washington, D.C. But a close inspection of that claim shows his children only attended school there for about three months, and attended and graduated from high school in Alexandria, Virginia, although they later attended college in Kansas. “We have declared Dodge [City] our residency; our kids went to school there. A Democrat-backed super PAC called Maine Forward has committed to spending $2 million against Republican Gov. Paul LePage and for Democratic nominee Mike Michaud in the run-up to the Pine Tree State´s elections this fall, according to the Bangor Daily News. LePage is a top target for the Democratic Governors Association, and a report published in Talking Points Memo that he discussed executing Democrats in a meeting with a sovereign citizen group called the Aroostook Watchmen have only burnished their hopes. Back in 2012, I shared a sadly amusing image about how the modern political process has degenerated into two wolves and a sheep voting what to have for lunch. I was making an argument in that column against majoritarianism (and that is a critical issue, as explained in this video), but there’s also a very mportant moral component to this debate. Walter Williams addresses this issue in his latest column. He starts by asking a hypothetical question. Suppose I saw a homeless, hungry elderly woman huddled on a heating grate in the dead of winter. To help the woman, I ask somebody for

Appearing in a segment after pro-amnesty Republican Karl Rove, Levin, the conservative who was Attorney General Ed Meese´s chief of staff in the Reagan Administration, held up a dry erase board that read, "Deport! Secure Border! Cut $ From Foreign GOVTS!" Levin said his plan was a "humane program" that would discourage illegal immigrant children from making the treacherous journey to America so that they are not killed or raped. Lately there has been a lot of buzz about having Mitt Romney as the GOP nominee in 2016. In 1776 Americans declared themselves independent of more than arbitrary rule by a distant monarch. They also severed the ties of aristocracy. This was in itself a revolutionary notion. It meant that political power, its attendant privilege and economic advantages would no longer be transferred by the blood. Earldoms, dukedoms, and kingdoms were banished from the territory and from the future of the American people. The citizen became the self-identifying unit of self-rule. The generation of English colonists who gathered together in the summer of 1776 to declare their independence from the English crown knew that they had exhausted all other remedies.
