Netflix Is Getting Its Own Cable Channel
Wired Magazine, by Issie Lapowsky

Original Article

Posted By:Flyright, 4/26/2014 7:56:06 AM

In yet another sign that the internet is eating traditional television, Netflix announced on Friday that it has inked a deal with three cable TV companies to make watching Netflix as easy as changing the channel. For Netflix — a main way that people stream TV shows and movies over the internet — this deal is the first of its kind. It’s also a definitive sign that traditional cable companies, particularly small ones, are realizing they need to bridge the gap with internet TV in order to survive. Under the agreement, cable companies RCN, Grande Communications, and Atlantic Broadband will offer access to the Netflix service straight from

Simple question.....? I pay Xfinity A LOT of money each month for their cable and high speed internet. WHY....do I have to sit through endless minutes of commercials? I´m almost to the point of cancelling the entire mess. Let´s see the FCC step in and do something about this. I´m paying a premium for cable....get rid of the commercials for those of us paying that premium.

Poster #1. I use to be very loyal to my cable company, cell phone, credit card co´s, etc. No longer. They don´t care if you leave. After I had Uverse for 7 years and paying around 12k in fees they would not renegotiate the bill which was 185 a month. I cancelled and went to comcast internet only for two months. I used my xbox to watch shows on amazon prime and netflix. Then att started making low offers again. So I returned to them after lowering the bill over 50%. In 12 months I will give them the option to remain competitive or I will switch again. Play the companies off each other. If they want duopolies, then make them work for your business.

About the time I subscribed to Netflix and others my ISP, ATT, decided I didn´t have unlimited downloads anymore. Now when I watch a few movies ATT charges me more on the bill.

That it had been unlimited was why I subscribed.

Watching the influx of unaccompanied minors crossing our southwestern border daily, a reasonable man could conclude that we are living out the fevered dreams of a dystopian novel. The United States has lost a basic aspect of sovereignty. Control over its borders is a relic of the past.Having traversed Mexico with the help of drug cartels freely operating human trafficking networks, Central American minors are voluntarily entering the United States through the Rio Grande Valley. They’re shepherded to the border, where they cross on their own and seek apprehension by Department of Homeland Security agents,

The excuse of “the hard drive ate my homework” flies just as well in federal court as it does in any middle school, it seems. After Judicial Watch filed a complaint over the lack of notice on their FOIA demand that the Lois Lerner e-mails no longer existed, a federal judge ordered the IRS to explain what happened within 30 days — and that explanation has to come under oath: A federal judge on Thursday ordered the IRS to explain under oath how it lost a trove of emails to and from a central figure in the agency’s tea party

For President Barack Obama, the humanitarian crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border is increasingly becoming a political liability, giving Republicans a fresh opportunity to question his administration´s competence and complicating the debate over the nation´s fractured Still, Obama is resisting calls to visit the border during his two-day fundraising trip to Texas, where he arrives late Wednesday afternoon. Instead, Obama will hold a meeting hundreds of miles away in Dallas to discuss the crisis with faith leaders and Texas officials, including Republican Gov. Rick Perry. Two drones nearly took out an NYPD chopper over the George Washington Bridge on Monday, and cops arrested the wayward crafts’ operators, law-enforcement sources told The Post. The Aviation Unit helicopter was on patrol at around 12:15?a.m. when it had to swerve to avoid the small unmanned aircrafts, the sources said. Just three months into his tenure on the federal bench, and before his formal investiture ceremony later this week, newly minted U.S. District Judge Christopher “Casey” Cooper has been handed one of the most high-profile and politically sensitive American terrorism cases in recent years.Cooper, who was confirmed by the Senate in March, has been randomly assigned by the court’s selection system to preside over the U.S. government’s case against Ahmed Abu Khatalla, a suspected ringleader in the deadly attack on U.S. outposts in Benghazi, Libya. “He can handle it. The Supreme Court led by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. showed again this year that it is playing a long game, writing opinions that move the law in small but steady steps in a conservative direction. At first glance, many of its decisions appear modest, and the justices themselves downplayed them as narrow and tightly targeted. But they also set the stage for broader rulings, and liberals voiced concern about their long-term impact. Many rely on well-established rights, such as freedom of speech and free exercise of religion, but extend those rights for the first time to corporations, wealthy donors and

Sarah Palin wants to impeach Barack Obama. In an op-ed article published last week, the former Republican vice presidential nominee declared that the crisis on the southern border (where young illegal immigrants are being detained) "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´No, mas´." A growing number of our fellow Americans have taken on grotesque features, in looks and sounds, in reaction to the thousands of children from Central America who have crossed our borders as they flee poverty and violence in hope for something better.
