Council passes Indigenous
People´s Day Resolution

Star Tribune (Minneapolis, MN), by Eric Roper

The second Monday in October will now be referred to as "Indigenous People´s Day," rather than Columbus Day, on all official city communications in Minneapolis following a unanimous City Council vote on Friday morning. The resolution brought hundreds of people to City Hall to commemorate the vote, which Native American activists have been seeking for many years. “It’s been a long time coming," said Clyde Bellecourt, a civil rights organizer. "For me, it’s been almost 50 years that we’ve been talking about this pirate." The language of the resolution notes that the federal government, state government and city government still

Anyone in Minneapolis who thinks Victorian social norms were amusing should prepare to be ridiculed for their smug PC nonsense by future generations.

I don´t see anything wrong with having a nationally (not necessarily federally) recognized Native American or indigenous people´s holiday but there´s no need to denigrate someone else just to have one. Make it in August when there´s no other major holiday. But the libs can´t do anything halfway good without doing something bad as well.

Every group of people on Earth have been dominated by another. When a group becomes obsessed with victimhood, they lose the ability to move on with their lives. Nothing good comes from stirring up hatred and bitterness.

Some examples:
1) Germany after WWI
2) Russia after the Cold War
3) France after the storming of the Bastille

Soon, history books will ban any mention of any accomplishment by a white male. Only victims, the conquered, the unaccomplished and the less advanced people and cultures will be celebrated. That will be so inspirational!

Indigenous to where? Siberia or Eastern Asia? They had to have come from somewhere. I believe there is some evidence that there were inhabitants in the land before the "Indians" migrated from Asia. By the way, cattle are indigenous to America, as are horses, camels, and elephants, but buffalo came from Asia. They all went extinct at the end of the last Ice Age, no doubt helped along by overhunting by the newly arrived Asian tribes.

Coming resolutions in Minneapolis will feature Cuban Liberation Day, Soviet Liberation Day, The People´s Republic of China Liberation Day, Ho Chi Minh Liberation Day, and the Glorious Revolution of The People´s Republic of North Korea Liberation Day, all commemorating the inspiring struggles of oppressed-by-capitalism indigenous peoples to be free.

The left is becoming more self-righteous by the day. Is there nothing they do not wish to change? Tweak? Make right? We are losing our culture because these wackadoodles want to feel good about themselves. It is good to preserve history warts and all. This is how we learn to be a better people. This is just more of the bashing of America that the left loves to engage in. There has never been more self-flagellation than there is today. The left abhors anyone who has pride in this country. They want us all wearing sackcloth and ashes and rending our clothes. Nuts to that! I am proud to be an American!

A federal judge Friday struck down a landmark 2007 Minnesota law that bans new power generation from coal, saying it regulates business activities of out-of-state utilities in violation of the U.S. Constitution’s Commerce Clause. U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson enjoined the state from enforcing key sections of the law, which North Dakota coal and utility interests said hampered their ability to find buyers for power from existing coal-fired generating plants or to plan for new ones. “It is a complete victory for us,” North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem said in an interview.

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
