New York - Mark Burnett and Roma Downey will produce a new version of the historical epic "Ben-Hur," as the faith-based film revival continues on the big screen. Paramount Pictures and MGM announced Friday that they will co-produce "Ben-Hur" with Burnett and Downey, who also made the recent miniseries "The Bible." The film is set for release in February 2016. Lewis Wallace's 1880 novel has been adapted several times, most notably the 1959 film starring Charlton Heston. Famous for its chariot race scene, the film won 11 Academy Awards, including best picture. Burnett and Downey also produced the recently released film

There is enough history out there to "tell" without doing reruns, they are never as good.

How do you make one of the best films ever made better? I think Burnett/Downey are doing good work but there must be another "biblical" story they can tackle. Heston was so outstanding in the lead role I cannot imagine anyone topping that performance.

...I respect what Burnett and his wife have done with faith based films. But there are many other great stories that can be told that fit´s their "ministry"...

...a remake of an EPIC such as the ´59 Ben Hur is an overreach. To this day I remember sitting there as a young boy enthralled...

There are several rolls that Heston owned and this is one of them. Can´t see them doing any better and if they think that computer generated visuals will help, good luck with that. It wasn´t the race it was the passion that Heston and the rest of the cast put into the film, no way can that be duplicated or topped.

Why don´t Burnett and Downey produce a new version of Ben-Hur, and the people, who think it´s a bad idea, just not go see the movie?

The Heston stamps are out, and I plan to buy more of them. A picture of of him as Ben Hur adorns the stamp package.

Good gosh, now that we have computer special effects they want to remake everything. I can see it now, men flying between chariots like they´re playing hop-scotch and charioteers reaching out and grabbing the arm of some guy standing still, as if that wouldn´t rip the guy´s arm clean off. Physics means nothing these days in movies. In the making of the original Ben-Hur, I can´t remember how many stunt men actually died. Today the OHSA and the FBI would have shut it down.

Hollywood should make a movie of Barney Frank and entitle it, "Been Her."

Perhaps a remake is okay in some instances. But Ben-Hur? It was directed by William Wyler with not only the chiseled Heston but the superb Stephen Boyd. We are talking rare movie magic here. With so many Biblical tales which have never been put onscreen, why remake Ben-Hur? Hollywood really is pretty far gone, huh?

I have not seen anything these two have produced that followed Gods´ Holy Bible. I tried watching some of their productions and there is so much non biblical truth in them that I just will not now watch anything they do or say.

It´s like they are trying to make Gods´ Holy Bible politically correct.

New California law lets schools fire

California Governor Jerry Brown on Wednesday signed a law adding "egregious misconduct" to the list of fireable offenses for public school teachers, weeks after a judge said it was too hard to fire incompetent teachers in the most populous U.S. state. Both houses of the legislature unanimously passed the law just days after a Los Angeles Superior Court judge court ruled that laws granting tenure and other job protections to teachers were unconstitutional, leading to a denial of equal rights to children in poor neighborhoods as incompetent teachers were transferred to less desirable locations.

A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say. In spite of the threat, several former camp workers broke their confidentiality agreements and shared exclusive details with me about the dangerous conditions at the camp. They said taxpayers deserve to know about the contagious diseases and the risks the children pose to Americans. I have agreed to not to disclose their identities because they fear retaliation and prosecution.

A crowd of 300 angry protestors forced three buses carrying 140 undocumented migrant children and their parents to turn around in Murrieta, California, on Tuesday after they blocked the road. The dramatic confrontation between the flag waving protestors and the Homeland Security buses came one day after Mayor Alan Long urged residents to resist the federal government´s plan to transfer the Central American migrants to California to ease overcrowding of facilities along the Texas-Mexico border. Holding up banners that said ´Return to Sender´ and suggesting the children should be sent to the White House instead, the irate protestors succeeded when the buses

The Israeli Air Force carried out what it called "precision strikes" on 34 "terror targets" in the Gaza Strip overnight, after the discovery of the bodies of three Israeli teenagers who were kidnapped in the West Bank earlier this month. The Israeli Defense Forces said the strikes were in response to rockets being launched earlier into Israel from Gaza. The waves of rockets from Gaza and IDF retaliations have picked up since the teens were kidnapped and the Israeli crackdown began. Hamas has not claimed responsibility for launching the rockets but Israel holds them responsible for everything coming out of Gaza. The Israel Defense

WASHINGTON – Republicans see the November midterm elections as an opportunity to take the nation on a different path and call for a new conservative message focusing on the problems of regular Americans. During the latest convention of conservative activist Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition in Washington, D.C., Republicans confidently proclaimed that the GOP has an opportunity to turn back the past six years of President Obama’s administration in the midterm elections. “There’s only one thing to be done in 2014…and that is to take back America by taking back the Senate,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said
