There is a conceit inherent in being professionally modest; in feigning a departure from the stage only to insist on pulling the strings from behind the props. Thus there is a certain underhandedness about leading from behind. (Snip) The administration appears to believe there is some kind of natural international legal order which will enforce itself. Hillary Clinton, asked to comment on Russia’s dismemberment of the Ukraine ventured that Moscow would be punished by a kind of Karma. “I think the outcome for him and Russia will not be good, which is deeply unfortunate,” she said. “Russia should be a

The endless snafus out of this White House follow naturally when the guiding hand belongs to an untraveled, inexperienced, untested and not-very-smart president. Obama really did think that all Lefties everywhere, from DC to China to Russia to Mars, were secretly behind HIM, wanted HIM to lead the world, worshiped at HIS altar, agreed with everything HE said, and just couldn´t wait for HIM to tell them what should be done and who should do what.

Now he finds that nobody thinks he´s special, nobody thinks he´s interesting, nobody keens to hear him speak, nobody thinks he´s even average anymore. That´s because he couldn´t pull a cloak of secrecy over these past five years. Rush was spot-on about Obama - he´s a know-nothing, arrogant loser with delusions of grandeur.

Burrocky, the epoch of your kind was the low, dishonest Thirties. Go hop on Doc´s time travel train and hustle on back to Adolf´s era. Kick Mussolini out and take his place. Then we can look back on your silly, spoiled-little-boy presidency as an aberration and not a systemic failure.

Not a word from Podesta, the newest handler, things must be much worse than he and Soros imagined when they sent him to the Spite House to do damage control.

To understand the advance of ISIS in Iraq it may be necessary to go back to Benghazi, because Iraq is connected to Syria and Syria may be connected to events in Libya. (Snip) What makes Benghazi such dynamite is the outre chance that ISIS was somehow armed and supported in the first place by the Obama administration or its allies in a cockamamie scheme to advance the Arab Spring. In which case the ISIS offensive in Iraq is a supersized version of the Benghazi consulate treachery. The Revenge of Frankenstein. Now before you say “that’s incredible!” think of Iranian Revolutionary

Ernest Hemingway observed that people went broke gradually at first then all of a sudden. Barack Obama’s career, for so long without visible means of support, has now moved onto the “all of sudden stage” of bankruptcy. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, an al-Qaeda affiliated front of Muslims, have followed up their lightning seizure of Mosul by taking Tikrit, the former stronghold of Saddam Hussein. (Snip) The dangers of abandoning such a vital region were always obvious. Those who have not read my 2010 post, The Ten Ships, might take the time to do so now. It’s

TAMPA — Try as he might, Sami Osmakac couldn’t persuade anyone to help him launch a terrorist attack in Tampa. He needed only four or five people, he said, and he could shut down the region’s economy by blowing up every major bridge. But he said no one would join him. In the end, his only partners in crime turned out to be a paid government informant and an undercover FBI agent. So the “second 9/11” he talked about was not to be. When he tried to drive off with a fake car bomb in his trunk and visions of

Yesterday Salon gave these words of advice to the GOP. It urged the leadership to stop moving to the right. Nothing but loonies there. (Snip) Superficially Brat’s positions are not that much different from Cantor’s, except that they are less nuanced. But this contest was not decided on policy. It was decided on the question of governance. It was about ‘who decides’. It’s no longer about what ‘what is your position on tax credits’. It’s now about ‘whose side are you on?’ The biggest reason Cantor lost is probably because he’s an incumbent. The natives are restless. They are tired

Ron Fournier reveals that yet another highly placed Democrat has quit on the president. (Snip) That doesn’t mean the Left can’t change. It only signifies that the shift, when it comes, will be no ordinary change of mind. It will be more akin to a Pauline conversion than a matter of fact acknowledgment of a mistake. To non-ideologues being proved wrong is nothing important. You just admit to error and correct yourself. By contrast, because ideology defines the self-importance of ideologues, to confess you’ve been took is a humiliation beyond description. The only thing likely to precipitate such a change

Hayek and Ceausescu’s Last Speech

Frederich Hayek identified the primary reason why tyrants fall: they rely on the poisoned cup of centralized knowledge. In the essay The Use of Knowledge in Society, Hayek argued that in complex systems “the relevant facts are dispersed among many people”. The problem with the Narrative is that it suppresses the “dispersed information” by insisting on the centralized knowledge, on stories the elite make up themselves. Central planning in economics leads to a mismatch in prices and a collapse in the economy while a Central Narrative in politics leads to an increased incidence of involuntary rebellion. This occurs when the

At this point, heaping criticism on the swap of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five hardened Taliban military leaders almost feels like piling on. And it would be if the whole fiasco weren’t this evolving, target-rich environment where each dawn presents fresh revelations — indictments, really — that look all the worse because President Obama surely should have known about all of them before he hugged Momma Bergdahl in the Rose Garden. For instance, most everything worth knowing about Bergdahl’s troubles in, and with, the Army (in which he freely enlisted) could have been discovered by typing the lad’s name

One of the most interesting events in the history of the British Empire were the destruction of Lord Elphinstone’s Army in Afghanistan, 1842. (Snip) There is among the incompetent an inordinate sense of unearned destiny. In a sense they’ve achieved by simply being there. There is a trend among modern political leaders to regard themselves as legends before actually doing anything. While in the past public figures wrote autobiographies in retirement, after their achievement, today they write about their greatness even before their careers begin. The reason for this is that while formerly the narrative came after the fact, today

President Obama explained that he traded the Taliban 5 for Bowe Bergdahl because it’s what great men do. (Snip) You need a derived dictionary to understand the Lightworker. Just put words and actions into one-to-one correspondence. Whenever you hear ‘engagement’, ‘investment’, ‘reconciliation’ and ‘confidence-building’ from Obama remember it means “bribes”. Essentially Obama regarded all the assets acquired in the Bush years — Iraq, Afghanistan, Gitmo — as liabilities to be liquidated or traded off to pay for his new strategy of ‘engagement’. Right now what Obama wants is a “responsible” end to the war, which he means he has to

A bipartisan delegation of House lawmakers are circulating a measure to reprimand the Obama administration for violating a U.S. law mandating that the administration provide Congress with advance notice before releasing dangerous terrorists from the Guantanamo Bay prison camp. The resolution comes in response to White House efforts to keep Congress in the dark about its controversial decision to release five top Taliban prisoners in exchange for captured Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel admitted in testimony to lawmakers Wednesday that the Obama administration intentionally and knowingly ignored the law, which mandates that Congress be given 30

The terrorists who attacked the U.S. consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi on September 11, 2012 used cell phones, seized from State Department personnel during the attacks, and U.S. spy agencies overheard them contacting more senior terrorist leaders to report on the success of the operation, multiple sources confirmed to Fox News. The disclosure is important because it adds to the body of evidence establishing that senior U.S. officials in the Obama administration knew early on that Benghazi was a terrorist attack, and not a spontaneous protest over an anti-Islam video that had gone awry, as the administration claimed for

After praising the school’s focus on career-centered education and encouraging graduates to give back to their communities, Mr. Obama addressed the rising cost of higher education, blasting Senate Republicans for stalling a Democrat-backed bill that would allow borrowers
