Police have issued an alert after seven women were attacked since March in the south suburbs of Park Forest, Matteson and Richton Park. The alert says authorities are not sure all the attacks are connected but that police in all three towns are working together on the cases. A $500 reward is being offered for information on any of the incidents. The most recent attack occurred early Thursday morning when a 34-year-old woman was sexually assaulted near the Metra train station in Matteson, police said. The woman was walking on the Old Plank Trail from her home in Park Forest

You gotta love these artist´s sketches of suspects...they look like they could be any one of 20,000 people in one area. I drew better likenesses when I was 10 years old! His face is all crooked!!!! How much do you want to bet the real guy looks totally different? He would have to because this looks like a bad cartoon. Hey, maybe I should start a new career as a police sketch artist! I certainly couldn´t do any worse than these guys do!!

Too bad it took 7 attacks for them to notice a pattern. But I assume the police department is fearful of profiling anyone wearing a hoodie and resembling Eric Holder.

Immigrant-rights activists have set up water stations, gone out nearly daily to find border crossers in distress, and circulated warning posters and maps of the locations of those who have died in the desert. (Snip) Now Robin Hoover, founder and former member of the local group Humane Borders, is planning to distribute 100 high-intensity flashlights. Hoover will work today with a local church in Altar, Sonora, 115 miles southwest of Tucson and one of the last staging areas for would-be border crossers, to pass out the $8.32 flashlights that can illuminate a tree a half-mile away and include both a strobe

American composer-conductor John Williams, 82, is set to debut a new arrangement of The Star-Spangled Banner for Independence Day. It will feature choirs, trumpets, an orchestra and cannons on the National Mall in Washington D.C. for the nation´s birthday. Usually a soloist performs the national anthem for the annual ´Capitol Fourth´ celebration in Washington. But this year, the acclaimed composer will lead the National Symphony Orchestra, the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, the Joint Armed Forces Chorus and the Choral Arts Society of Washington in performing a special new arrangement. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the national anthem.

New documents filed by the U.S. Justice Department against Libyan militant Ahmed Abu Khatallah further shut down claims made by the Obama administration that the Benghazi attack sprouted from from an anti-islam film. The documents come after recent comments made by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that some of the attackers may have been influenced by the online video. The court filings make clear those who organized the attack were part of a ´conspiracy´ involving several members of the Ansar al-Sharia ´Islamic extremist militia´, reports Fox News. The government are trying to ensure Khatallah remains behind bars.

Vice president Joe Biden began Independence Day celebrations in the nation’s birthplace, emphasizing the country´s continued fight for equality. (Snip) He said he was reminded of two Philadelphias, one where the Declaration of Independence was signed 238 years ago and the other in Mississippi where civil rights workers were murdered in June 1964, two weeks before President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. Both places helped shape the words “all men are created equal” and gave “genuine life” to the promise made when the Declaration was signed in 1776, he said. Washington - Celebrating the ethnic diversity of America, President Barack Obama said more than two dozen foreign-born service members who became U.S. citizens at the White House on the Fourth of July are vivid reminders that welcoming immigrants "is central to our way of life." He pleaded anew for new immigration policies, saying the vast range of backgrounds and experiences that has made America a melting pot for more than 200 years also makes the country stronger. He argued that the system must be retooled for the U.S. to remain the greatest nation on earth. "The basic idea of welcoming

I grew up listening to Paul Harvey on the radio. I didn’t always find him, but somehow, he always had a way of finding me. I’d usually be driving back from a business trip and inevitably, I’d tune in to some obscure station – and there he was. Loved it. I also loved his resoluteness – particularly when it came to the principles and values for which he so deeply cared. Regardless of which direction the political winds blew, Paul Harvey stood steadfast for the beliefs he held dear and his unwavering love of country. To Paul, America really was

Americans hardly need an excuse to display the flag, but few occasions bring the red, white and blue out in fuller force than our national birthday. Jeane Kirkpatrick once said, “Americans need to face the truth about themselves, no matter how pleasant it is.” The truth is that the United States is an exceptional nation: It’s the world’s oldest and most stable capitalist democracy, older even than Great Britain, which did not become a mass democracy until the late 19th century. It’s the first nation founded in an act of rebellion against a colonial power. It’s the first nation founded

His death came just one day after his 82nd birthday. His support for and promotion of a conservative agenda led to Ronald Reagan´s election as president in 1980 and the nation´s turn toward the principles those two men shared. The Pilgrims settled in Plymouth because “our victuals (are) much spent, especially our beere,” according to a diary entry written aboard the Mayflower. The American Revolution, meanwhile, was famously fermented by brewers such as Samuel Adams. So to honor Independence Day, we compiled a list of the 10 most patriotic beers in Boston. Since lying and deceit generally benefit the liar, we have to ask, ”What was in it for Bill Ayers?” A mea culpa for past crimes? Hardly. Maybe we’ve been conned. There’s a growing recognition that Barack Obama is an incompetent poser, working out of his depth, and his administration is the gang that can’t shoot straight. There’s a lot of evidence to support that belief. Everything he touches becomes a bloody mess, like crushed bones and bits of flesh caught in the tracks of a tank slicing through a rank of soldiers (or civilians). Iraq, Syria, Egypt — all gone, as prospects for countries with a prosperous and democratic future. President Obama’s displeasure with gridlock in Washington — and with the Republicans he blames for it — has been rising for months. This week it has boiled over. From the Rose Garden to the Cabinet Room to near the Key Bridge in Georgetown, the president has signaled more than mere annoyance at the state of affairs at the halfway point of this year. His disdain for congressional Republicans has steadily increased; his disrespect for their tactics has hardened into contempt. President Obama has, except on fleeting occasions, routinely disdained the customary Oval Office language of compromise and coalition-building for the low arts of sophistry and belittlement. That was to be expected, given his background as a Chicago community organizer and product of that city´s corrupt Democrat political machine. But Obama has far exceeded dismal expectations. No previous American president employed the systematic distortion of fact and mendacious characterization of opponents that have typified Obama´s presidency. Higher education is no longer just for kids in the top quarter or the top half of the class. College is for everyone," First lady Michelle Obama told a gathering of school counselors in Florida on Tuesday. "Every student in this country needs some higher education, whether that´s two-year degree, a four-year degree, or professional training of some sort." Mrs. Obama went to the annual meeting of the American School Counselor Association in Florida to thank counselors for taking on a demanding job without the resources necessary to meet the challenges. They, in turn, made her an honorary school counselor.
