Politicians at cockfighting

LOUISVILLE, KY - It´s part of Kentucky´s landscape, even when it´s not readily visible. This part is hidden in a Henry County valley behind the trees by Lake Jericho. It features sprawling farms that raise chickens, but not the kind you eat. These chickens are separated by leg leashes and if they weren´t they would fight. "If they break off their ropes or out of their pens they do kill each other, by nature´s way, not nothing to do with us," said farm owner Albert Fair. The man who owns Dink Fair Game Farm said there´s nothing illegal going on here. "I specialize in

While I do oppose cockfighting (strongly), I do not think this should be something the federal government has laws on.

Your experience may vary from mine.
But the cockfighting I´ve learned of in the last 20-some years living in various parts of the country (including western Arkansas, central Alabama, and eastern Tennessee), the overwhelming majority of persons involved in large-scale cockfighting endeavors are illegal aliens, primarily Mexican although a few El Salvadoran and Guatemalans have been reported.
Since illegal aliens and the damage the do is somehow not to be discussed in polite company, can we foresee that complaints about cockfighting (and, sometimes, dog fighting as well) will be similarly banned? Or is cockfighting somehow worse than human trafficking?

I believe that Harry Reid, the astute and intelligent leader of our body of august debaters known as The United States Senate, should, in his endeavor to besmirch all things Republican, introduce a bill to make it illegal for bull elephants to follow their natural instincts and fight each other to gain the favor of the females of the herd.

If two gamecocks can do damage to anything other than themselves, think of what two rampaging elephants can do to a village full of prospective future pResidents of The United States.

He should be able to gain support from the ASPCA and maybe the PETA "ladies" could be convinced to invade the Senate gallery in their birthday suits.

Bevin previously said he had no idea , not a clue , that the rally was about cockfighting.
The undercover video demonstrates that every speaker discussed cockfighting , Bevin knew the purpose of the rally and in fact answered an audience question about cockfighting.
Bevin looks like a fool for blatantly lying and then getting caught in the lie.
He could have said he was there in the beginning and explained why he attended-state´s rights, etc.

Anyone that enjoys blood-sports and thinks it´s just fine and dandy, is one twisted piece of human debris.

Why would a politician that enjoys watching a couple of animals tear each other apart, give a rats behind about their constituents? They don´t.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes of Kentucky has released her first attack ad, mischaracterizing Sen. Mitch McConnell´s voting record on overhauling Medicare. In the ad, a retired coal miner asks how he and his wife are supposed to afford the extra $6,000 in Medicare costs that McConnell voted for. But the plan McConnell supported in 2011 would not have increased that family´s Medicare costs because it exempted people who are in or near retirement from any changes to the program. It would have privatized Medicare over time, which some analysts said would have eventually increased costs. Shaky claims about

The widow of a former Navy SEAL engaged in some testy exchanges with an attorney for Jesse Ventura during the opening day of a trial of a defamation lawsuit filed by the former governor. Taya Kyle suggested several times that attorney David B. Olson was misstating the testimony she gave during sworn depositions before the trial. Ventura’s lawsuit claims that he was defamed in “American Sniper” by Kyle’s late husband, Chris, a former Navy SEAL, and that he slandered Ventura by repeating the false account of a bar fight in Coronado, Calif., in radio and TV interviews, undermining Ventura’s reputation. President Barack Obama will head to Texas later this week for Democratic fundraising events in Austin and Dallas, but he will not visit the southern border where unaccompanied minors are streaming across that frontier in record numbers. “Schedules sometimes change and if they do we’ll let you know, but right now there is no plan to visit the border while he’s in Texas,” said White House Press Sec. Josh Earnest last week, bristling over the impertinence of the suggestion that Obama should take time out of his fundraising schedule to see the scale of this emerging refugee crisis for himself.

The Rand Paul–Mike Lee policy partnership has been the most important Republican collaboration in Washington in recent memory. They have tried subtly — and sometimes not so subtly — to change the Republican brand by applying conservative and libertarian principles differently than the party has in the past. The two Tea Party senators have worked together on civil liberties, opposing the Patriot Act, attempting to rein in the National Security Agency, speaking out against extrajudicial killings of American citizens, protesting warrantless searches, and trying to strip indefinite detention from the National Defense Authorization Act. The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

President Obama evidently has decided not to put a human face on the crisis unfolding at the U.S. southern border—not even his own. The White House said over and over again Monday that Obama will not travel to the border with Mexico despite flying to Texas this week to raise money for Democratic candidates there. It´s certainly in part a political decision, one meant to avoid taking ownership of a difficult issue on which the White House would prefer to share blame.
