Perry Pitches Texas to New York
Businesses, Hits Cuomo on Ads

New York Observer, by Jill Colvin

Texas Gov. Rick Perry was in New York today to make his pitch to business leaders he hopes to lure to the Lone Star State, and took the opportunity to reissue his debate challenge to Gov. Andrew Cuomo–who today declined the request. “Yes, I’m here recruiting business. I’m don’t shy away from that. I’m very upfront about that. But I’m also here to help stimulate a conversation with the people of New York state, the people in New York City, the legislators, the governor,” said Mr. Perry, speaking to reporters after a lunch with business owners at Hill Country BBQ.

Cuomo does just fine getting businesses and workers to leave NY by his excessive taxation and mandates. His latest ploy is 10-year tax free zones. The people living there get to make up for the taxes that location won´t get for 10 years. Then after the 10 years are up, the business moves to another tax free zone. See how it works?

Yep #2, that is exactly how the scheme works here. BUT, we are on to it, and local municipalities are starting to refuse these deals. Mostly because you have to be a "well connected" business with the stooges in Albany to get the PILOT deal.

In order to comply with federal regulations, the State Board of Education in Tennessee has announced that schools are only allowed to host club bake sales, cook-offs, or any other food-based fundraiser on each campus 30 days per school-year. The board chose this specific number because if a maximum number of days are not set, schools are not allowed to host any food-related fundraisers at all, according to The Tennessean. Administrators across the state are lamenting the effect this will have on school club funds. via The Tennessean: “That means if the Spanish club sells sausage biscuits one morning, that’s

Talk about karma. Costco, a discount chain co-founded by a major Democratic donor, faced the wrath of the almighty dollar after stripping its shelves of Dinesh D’Souza’s bestselling book America: Imagine The World Without Her. According to Newsbusters, after Costco announced that it was dropping D’Souza’s work, the book soared to #1 on Amazon.com. Book reviewers on the website made clear their opinion of the retail giant. Costco I don’t have to shop thee!!! Just saying! Screw Costco …I’ll buy it here. Thanks Amazon !!! Heard about this book being banned by Costco. Read reviews here and was especially befuddled

Calling them "aspiring American workers," AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka launched a petition Wednesday calling on President Obama to bypass Congress on the current immigration surge and to instead use his executive authority to aid the people flooding the southwestern U.S. border. "Families are being separated because Congress has failed to act on a commonsense immigration process. The crisis on our worksites and in our communities can´t wait. That´s why I´m calling on President Obama to extend administrative relief to Americans in waiting," Trumka said. President Obama is asking Congress for billions to handle a border crisis, but that doesn´t mean he´ll get it. The administration won´t get the $3.7 billion unless Republicans in the House and Senate go along with the request, but there are several reasons that may not happen. Here are five reasons why: Republicans want more of the money to go to deportations. Almost half of Obama´s $3.7 billion request would go to the Department of Health and Human Services to provide aid to the illegal arrivals. But some Republicans want more money to be spent on deportations and beefing up

Nearly half of all illegal immigrant children don’t show up for their deportation hearings, federal officials testified to Congress on Wednesday, underscoring just how easy it is for those surging across the border right now to disappear into the shadows. The number could be even higher for the current surge of unaccompanied children flooding across the border, who are often released to illegal immigrant parents who have no incentive to bring their children to immigration courts. And federal authorities specifically refuse to ask the legal status of the parents or relatives who come to claim the children, officials acknowledged. “We

Former Mayor Ray Nagin was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in federal prison after being convicted earlier this year on 20 counts of bribery, money laundering, fraud and tax evasion. The two-term mayor, who left office in 2010, was sentenced on the lighter side, said U.S. District Judge Helen Berrigan. Sarah Palin on Tuesday joined a growing chorus of Republicans calling for the impeachment of President Obama, writing in a Breitbart op-ed that the influx of young illegal immigrants over the southern border "is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, ´no mas.´ " Mixed/careless metaphors aside, this is nothing but bad news for Republicans — especially four months until the 2014 election. Palin is hardly the first GOP politician to raise the issue of impeachment over the past couple years. Others include Sens. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Reps. The White House on Tuesday formally requested $3.7 billion in emergency funding from Congress to deal with an influx of Central American minors along the southern border. But the proposal was quickly met with broad skepticism among Republican lawmakers, who were doubtful that the package would be approved quickly — if at all. Administration officials said the request is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at building more detention centers, adding immigration judges, and beefing up border patrols and air surveillance. President Obama has said he hopes such steps will both speed deportations and discourage adults from sending children on

Enough is enough of the years of abuse from this president. His unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, “no mas.” Without borders, there is no nation. Obama knows this. Opening our borders to a flood of illegal immigrants is deliberate. This is his fundamental transformation of America. It’s the only promise he has kept. Discrediting the price paid for America’s exceptionalism over our history, he’s given false hope and taxpayer’s change to millions of foreign nationals who want to sneak into our country illegally. WASHINGTON — Congressional Democrats said Tuesday that they had developed legislation to override the Supreme Court decision on contraceptives. The bill would ensure that women have access to coverage for birth control even if they work for businesses that have religious objections. The bill, developed in consultation with the Obama administration, would require for-profit corporations like Hobby Lobby Stores to provide and pay for contraceptive coverage, along with other preventive services, under the Affordable Care Act. The measure could be on the Senate floor as early as next week, Senate Democrats said. “Your health care decisions are not your boss’s

Starting next week, House Republicans will launch a highly visible—and likely tumultuous—three-week process of bringing to the floor legislation to authorize their promised lawsuit against President Obama over his use of executive actions. "In theory, you could report out a resolution tomorrow and vote on it," said a House GOP aide on Tuesday. "But that is not the approach [the leaders] want to take." Rather, the aim is to display—if not actually engage in—a more deliberative process, even if amid controversy. President Obama evidently has decided not to put a human face on the crisis unfolding at the U.S. southern border—not even his own. The White House said over and over again Monday that Obama will not travel to the border with Mexico despite flying to Texas this week to raise money for Democratic candidates there. It´s certainly in part a political decision, one meant to avoid taking ownership of a difficult issue on which the White House would prefer to share blame. (Snip) In other words, if Obama goes goes to the border, he owns the problem. If he doesn't, he's blasted for a lack of leadership.
