As China and Japan Prepare for War,
American Forces Battle over Turf

American Thinker, by David Archibald

Original Article

Many readers of American Thinker may be thinking that a war between China and Japan, with or without the US being involved, is precluded by the fact that it would be stupid and destructive. Nevertheless, the people who are actually going to fight that war are continuing to prepare for it. In the US forces, the Marines are seeing off an attempt by the Army to gain a role. The Marines believe that they won’t need any help in retaking the Senkakus from China.

The writers take is pretty nonchalant like a dust up between China and Japan will be a local event. not threatening a confrontation between nuclear powers.

Obama weakness and gutting our forces is letting this become a possibility.

If I had ambitions to become the next "Super Power", I would wait for the existing super power to elect a blithering, dithering doofus and then I would strike and strike hard.

Lord,I hope we can get our son out of China and back to the US safely before any of this happens (we´ve been pre-approved to adopt a child from China.)

A lot of the folktales we were told as children involved starving peasant children begging for scraps of bread. [SNIP] It is a region that is troubling the world needlessly when you consider the big picture. The Middle East-North Africa (MENA) region has 500 million Arabs, Persians, North Africans and others living in an area with an agricultural system that can support half that number. The region as a whole has a population doubling time of 34 years. While they are being fed, they breed. All that does is increase the number of people who ultimately will be dying of

There was a time in climate science when tree rings were used for good instead of evil, a time of innocent enquiry, a time that ended with the noble-cause corruption. [SNIP] If this sounds like the reverse echo of the global warming crowd, how often have leftist wealth-redistributors been right about anything? Given their track record, the exact opposite is the more likely outcome. We should be ever thankful to them though. If it wasn’t for their melodramatic predictions attracting honest scientists into the climate science field, humanity would be sleepwalking into the climatic and agricultural disruption that is

The Arab Spring, which started with the self-immolation of a Tunisian vegetable vendor at 11.30 am on 16th December, 2010, has resulted in two failed states in the region so far. [Snip] In the good old days, a large population meant a country could have a large army. These days it means the ongoing drag of having to feed a lot of unproductive people with every missed grain shipment a potential disaster. Hang in there Israel. Just a few more years and all your surrounding enemies will become semi-starved tribes with rifles and pickup trucks at best.

China Picks at the Scab

Why would China want to disturb the peace of the world? The roots of the coming conflict go back to early last century. The notion of China’s humiliation at the hands of foreigners is almost one hundred years old. It was first popularized in 1915 in response to Japan’s Twenty-One Demands on the Chinese state of that year. [SNIP] The rise of a few hundred million of China’s population out of poverty has allowed the self-indulgence of worrying about China’s past to be taken up again.

Say Goodbye to Egypt

In 2011, the clerical intellects in Egypt proposed that the pyramids be destroyed because they were idolatrous reminders of Egypt’s pre-Islamic past. Egypt’s real problem is more prosaic -- the mismatch between an agricultural system that can feed 40 million and a population of 84 million. [SNIP] The total food subsidy system costs about $4.4 billion per year. With the bulk of the population’s calories provided by subsidized bread from effectively communal bakeries, there is almost no resilience in the food supply system in Egypt. If the imports or the subsidies stop, Egyptians will starve.

The Twilight of Abundance

Baby boomers enjoyed the most benign period in human history. The superpower nuclear standoff gave us fifty years of relative peace. We had cheap energy from an inherent over-supply of oil. Grain supply increased faster than population growth. And the climate warmed due to the highest level of solar activity for eight thousand years. All those trends are now reversing. We are now in the twilight of that age of abundance. My new book, The Twilight of Abundance, had its beginning almost a decade ago.

Afghanistan is a country with violence at Palaeolithic levels, a misogynist religion, and endemic corruption. It is surrounded by countries that are hostile to it and the West. [Snip] It does not produce anything that the world wants in a positive way. Its major export is heroin, bringing misery and death to a large arc from Russia to Western Europe. It sounds like a hopeless case of a country in which to do nation-building, but that is not the worst of it. The modern history of Afghanistan is written in its wheat statistics.

The U.S. deported Honduran children as young as 1-1/2 years old on Monday in the first flight since President Obama pledged to speed up the process of sending back illegal immigrant minors from Central America. Fleeing violence and poverty, record numbers of children from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala have crossed into the United States over the past year, sparking intense debate about how to solve the problem. Monday´s flight from New Mexico to San Pedro Sula, the city with the highest murder rate in the world, returned 17 Honduran women, as well as 12 girls and nine boys, aged

The Obama administration quietly announced on Tuesday that it intends to change the way Americans learn about natural disasters and other major emergencies during radio and TV broadcasts, giving the president the ability to flip a switch and address the entire nation at once. The Emergency Alert System, the latest version of a program first established in 1951, blasts out emergency messages in the event of local weather emergencies, but can also be used to warn Americans about terror attacks and major natural disasters. In his message to the “Mexico/Holy See Colloquium on Migration and Development,” Pope Francis characterized the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants that have crossed the U.S. southern border as a product of globalization, suggesting that the phenomenon is happening worldwide. Francis proclaimed, “Despite the large influx of migrants present in all continents and in almost all countries, migration is still seen as an emergency, or as a circumstantial and sporadic fact, while instead it has now become a hallmark of our society and a challenge.” Emmer McCarthy for Vatican Radio said Francis expressed his concern for “the tens of thousands of

The First Lady of these United States has declared war on Chick-fil-A. It seems the home of plump juicy breasts and hot buttered buns has run afoul of the new Smart Snacks in School program. The program is a component of Mrs. Obama’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The new government regulations require snack items served in public schools to have less than two hundred calories. That includes vending machines, lunch rooms and other campus food venues. And that’s really bad news for kids at South Carolina’s Socastee High School. They’ve just learned they will no longer be allowed to buy Chick-fil-A

“Trust” is for Con Men: The reaction to the border chaos in Texas has accomplished one thing: It has exploded the lie at the heart of current “comprehensive” immigration reform plans. The basic structure of those plans is a swap of a) near-immediate legalization for b) increased border security in the future. The appealing idea is to let current illegals stay while taking the steps necessary to prevent further waves. The lie is the assumption that, once current illegals get their legalization, pro-immigrant activists in both parties will continue to support the second half of the bargain, the increased security. John McCain, an immigration hawk. Who knew? Mr. McCain, the highest-profile Republican of the U.S. Senate’s “Gang of Eight” that came up with amnesty as the solution to the immigration crisis — and it truly is a crisis — is finally taking a hard line against President Obama for his encouraging the tidal wave of illegal aliens swamping the southwestern border. “There has to be a halt to this,” Mr. McCain thundered Sunday on CNN. “That’s what we want, and the best way to do that is for planeloads of these young people to be returning to their country of origin

Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous. It had to come sometime, and it came in one very bad week for the Democrats: that the many big problems with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama finally grew too great for the press to ignore. Senate Budget Committee ranking member Sen. With Bill on the skids and his wife’s future prospects on the line, it was necessary for the pubic to see the president being punished, said Weekly Standard online editor Daniel Halper in his new book, “Clinton, Inc.: The Audacious Rebuilding of a Political Machine.” “They understood that
