The Tea Party Wins a Congressional Primary;
Jeb Bush, Sarah Palin Lose It

Slate, by David Weigel

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 4/23/2014 6:22:40 AM

Just three months after Rep. Trey Radel resigned his safe Republican seat in southwest Florida, Republican voters have chosen his likely successor: Curt Clawson. He won the election the old-fashioned way, by making a ton of money in the private sector and then splattering the airwaves with TV ads. In the process, Clawson rolled up endorsements from local Tea Party leaders and from the Tea Party Express. It wasn´t that he was particularly conservative -- he had no prior political record, and had even donated to Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow. It was enough, according to the Tea Party Express, that he

So from now on when someone Obama backs loses, will we see the headline - "Obama loses congressional seat?" I doubt it.

Maybe, #1. Certainly track is being kept of Rove-backed political losses. Why not Jeb and Palin?

If it says something negative about Palin, it has to be posted, right? Even if it´s from Slate. And she isn´t even running for office.

You can smell the fear from the GOP Establishment and the left (which is redundant), even over the Internet.

#2, apparently Floridians don´t believe in runoff elections. Clawson won with 38.2% of the vote compared to 25.6% for Benacquisto, 25.3% for Kreegel and 10.7% for Dreikorn. With a diluted primary like this it will be difficult for Clawson to win the general. Maybe that´s the new Rove tactic.

Some folks wake up and thank God for another day to love and serve HIm. Others scour the web for snarky articles about their most feared and detested opponents thinking they can rub our noses in it. Makes ´em feel a little better about their Exalted Establishment selves. No surprise. We just blow off the stink and continue to enjoy the day.

I guess it wouldn´t be that the articles might be interesting, that L-Dotters hold different views on different people and that some might enjoy reading about those people, pro or con? And, that L-Dotters can also wake up every day vowing to serve Him? Nah!

As a Floridian forced to listen to a really ugly campaign of negativity, allow me to share the facts.
Benacquisto was running generic ads promoting herself before Radel even resigned. Her husband was a bundler for Clinton and Obama.
Clawson ran right out of business, the others were already in politics.
This is a heavily Republican district, there is no danger of a democrat winning.
District 19 sent the message: NO career politicians wanted. Sarah needed a staff that would have vetted Benacquisto more carefully. Clawson was the TEA party candidate.

Since the TEA party is not an actual party but rather a pure grass roots movement - it lacks a clearing house to certify actual TEA party candidates. Democrats have been creating fake TEA party candidates all along and there is little way to expose them especially when there is a cooperative media willing to hide the backers.

I hope Clawson turns out to be real TEA party and not Democrat "tea" party. Perhaps Sarah Palin had some suspicions.

Yes, #12, that´s precisely the problem. Any crackpot can claim to be "the Tea Party candidate."

And, if the Tea Parties all have the same goals, why does someone like Lindsey Graham have four Tea Party candidates primarying him? Shouldn´t one be enough, if the goals are the same? Or do different Tea Parties stand for different things?

So Sarah backed the woman in the Republican primary. That is her tendency when there´s a woman in the race and I have no problem with it. No one is claiming her endorsement is an automatic guarantee of victory, and I think
there should have been a run-off since there was no candidate with 50% plus 1. This just allows the establishment to flood the field with candidates to siphon off enough of the protest vote so that their candidate wins on a simple majority. This is the Rove strategy.

One of the important reasons the Tea Party works so well is that we are not easily indoctrinated or brain washed to all believe in one thing or person. This allows for research, vetting, questioning, and honesty. We will not be overcome by the likes of Rove, Mediate, or any of the others trying to control how we perceive truth.

The reluctance of Hamas’s “military wing”—a misnomer for the more extreme elements of its extremist leadership—to accept the cease-fire designed by Egypt is, well, logical. Let’s admit it. They do not wish to accept defeat, and the Egyptian terms are a defeat for Hamas. By attacking Israel, what has Hamas wrought? Considerable damage was done to Gaza by Israeli air power, and Gazans will be picking up the pieces for months if not longer. But Hamas proved unable to kill one single Israeli with its hundreds of rockets, and all its special tricks—tunnels, longer-range rockets, a drone—also failed. Nor could

House Republicans are moving quickly to address the growing humanitarian crisis on the southern border, possibly holding votes as soon as next week. As Congress moves closer to the monthlong August recess, the speedy action sends a clear message to Senate Democrats: Take it or leave it. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), incoming Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and a group of top lawmakers working on the border crisis are set to file a bill that very closely mirrors the legislation crafted by Texas lawmakers Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican, and Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar.

Two of the larger social trends of our time — the growth of payday gambling and the legalization of marijuana — have two things in common: They are justified as the expansion of personal liberty, and they serve the interests of an expanding government. The ideological alliance behind these changes is among the strangest in U.S. politics. Libertarians seek to lift governmental restraints on consensual acts. State governments seek sources of revenue without the political inconvenience of requesting broad tax increases. Both find common ground in encouraging and exploiting the weaknesses and addictions of citizens. (And business interests and their lobbyists,
