Five former Buffalo Bills cheerleaders are suing the NFL team for unspecified damages, claiming they weren´t paid for their time at games or mandatory public appearances that left them open to groping and sexual comments. The lawsuit is the third filed this year against a National Football League team by its cheerleaders. The Oakland Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals also have pending wage battles. Two members of the Buffalo Jills squad held a news conference Tuesday with their attorney, Frank Dolce, explaining how they were each exploited out of ´840 hours of work´ and subjected to harassment, such as being told to sit of

The Pittsburgh Steelers do not have cheerleaders, but they do have six super bowl trophies.
These young women are suing themselves out of a job.

The NFL sure does manage to get most of its product for free. They get states and cities to subsidize their stadiums, high schools and universities to train their players, and beautiful dancers to entertain on the sidelines simply for the honor of being associated with a team.

Of course, it´s worth it, because football is classy and the players are role models.

There´s no way to say this without sounding unfeeling and a bit patronizing, but if a young woman aspires to be a pro football cheerleader, it takes lots of auditions, call-backs and weeding-out before finally making it. During all that time, does it not occur to them that they are not being chosen for their IQ? At some point, it´s up to the woman to decide if the trade-off is worth it.

We don´t agree on much, #4, but we agree on this.

They knew what they were getting into, probably with the hope of getting "discovered", or meeting someone special. However, that is no excuse for cheating them out of pay, if they can prove that claim.

Anyone who has watched the show about getting selected and trained for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders knows that the supply of aspiring DCC cheerleaders is at least 10 times the 40 or so selected each year. Increasing the pay would just bring in more applicants that have to be weeded out.

A huge question in Democratic politics - other than “When is Hillary going to announce?” - concerns whether or not Senator Elizabeth Warren (D – Cherokee Nation) will run for president. If Hillary does not run, it is almost certain that Warren will. Well-known for her populist and Occupy-esque perspectives on healthcare, taxes, income redistribution and everything in-between, she is one of the rising stars of the Democratic party. Anticipating that it could happen, we’re getting out in front and establish her as a storyteller, to put it nicely, about her wealth.

This is his fundamental transformation of America ... President Obama´s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here ... It´s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the Left or Right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment.” That this desperate cry for attention (dangling participle and all)

The Obama administration estimates it will catch 90,000 illegal immigrant children by the end of the current budget year in September. Last year, fewer than 2,000 children were returned home to their native countries. Only 1 in 45 illegal alien children will be returned home. Clogged courts mean young immigrants face low odds of being sent back to their home countries. The Wall Street Journal reported: Thousands of children from Central America are undertaking a perilous journey to the U.S. border despite warnings from the U.S. that they will be sent back. In fact, many will get to stay. Data from immigration courts, along

One side effect from the chaos in Libya following the armed conflict in 2011 has been constant disruptions of the country’s considerable supplies to the global oil market. But while its output remains just a fraction of what it was under Qaddafi, it does seem to be rebounding recently, as Bloomberg reports: Libya pumped 300,000 barrels a day in June, down 73 percent from a year earlier, according to a Bloomberg survey of oil companies, producers and analysts. Output has risen to 350,000 barrels a day, National Oil Corp. spokesman Mohamed Elharari said by phone yesterday. This recent rebound notwithstanding, risks abound

A trio of potential Republican presidential candidates in the Senate is rebuffing President Obama over the influx of children from Central America across the southern border. But even as Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Marco Rubio of Florida blame Obama, there are differences among their critiques. Cruz took perhaps the boldest swipes at the president and his request for $3.7 billion in emergency funding to address the issue. Cruz was also the only one of the group to speak on the floor this week. Paul remained mostly quiet, having published an op-ed during the Independence

What is happening at the southern border is a true and actual crisis. News accounts justly use words like chaos, collapse and breakdown. They feature images of children—toddlers, 4- and 5-year-olds—being shuffled to warehouse holding centers, sleeping crowded at night on what look like pallets, covered only in Mylar blankets. "I never thought we´d have refugee camps in America," said Texas Sen. John Cornyn, "but that´s what it´s appearing." All this gives normal people a feeling of besiegement and foreboding. Is a nation without borders a nation? Washington´s leaders seem to recognize what´s happening as a political problem, not a real

Glenn Beck has set up Mercury One Children and Family Border Relief Fund to help illegals coming into the United States. He’s already raised $600,000. Beck stated that Obama would not have to step in and ask for $3.7 billion if private charities would pick up the slack and give to the swarm of illegals crossing the border. Is he kidding? Do we really need more churches and non-profits enabling this blatant attack on America? Rich people and liberal elite billionaires have no skin in the game when it comes to the consequences of illegal immigration so what do they care? It’s the working class and middle class who will take the hit.
