38 Republican lawmakers put aside differences

Washington Times, by Dave Boyer

Thirty-eight Republican lawmakers, including such unlikely bedfellows as John McCain of Arizona and Ted Cruz of Texas, have joined to support a lawsuit challenging the legality of the Affordable Care Act and accusing the president of repeatedly ignoring the law he signed for political reasons. The lawmakers have signed onto a legal brief in support of a lawsuit filed by Sen. Ron Johnson, the Wisconsin Republican who is asking a federal court to overturn Obamacare’s special treatment for members of Congress and their staffs. “The unlawful executive action at issue in this case is not an isolated incident,” the brief

1. Why not all 278 Repubs in the House and Senate?
2. Why not 6 months ago?

This is a really great idea, but when will they start on the other examples of special treatment they have given themselves? Oh, like their retirement plans, for one...and their million dollar per year offices and staffs? (Which is why no legislator reads the bills they write.)

Zippy and the ´Rats supported by a steady drumbeat from their apologists in the left wing media are going to try their level best to distract attention from the horrors of 0bamacare between now and November.
From Dingy Harry calling every single story a lie, to the Kenyan declaring the ´debate to be over´, to Krugman calling it the the greatest turnaround story in the history of public policy!
The real benefit will be that this case will help keep the 0bamination and its transgression front and center during the election season. There is no hope that the courts will overturn this thing. And in a way they shouldn´t. The remedy must be legislative and political.

How many of those who are in support are up for re-election? By all appearances there are not a lot of conservatives in the Republican party. It is well known that there are Repblicans who become "conservative" for election time.

The Constitution prevent the Federal government from levying a direct tax on the people. Hence the Amendment giving the Income Tax legality.

ObamaCare is a direct tax according to Justice Roberts. So why is this tax Constitutional?

The article reads as something very positive for the Republicans. BUT, a lawsuit like this will take years to work it´s way through the courts. As such, Obozo will be long gone, all the damage will be done and un-reversible, and the current election cycle will be in the dust bin of history. The names on the suit plainly show those that are in trouble in the upcoming primaries. So, I´m not going to dance in the streets about this. And if another lawsuit was going to be filed, it should have been filed long ago, not just before election primaries.

It does not “threaten to subvert the most basic precept of our system of government.”

It is a direct, and obvious frontal assault on
"the most basic precept of our system of government.”

That is a given.

But,

What is legislation like ObamaCare
that is written by staffers and special interests
then passed by Senators who have not read a single word of it?

A. A complete a total abdication of

A. A disgraceful dereliction of duty.

The reluctance of Hamas’s “military wing”—a misnomer for the more extreme elements of its extremist leadership—to accept the cease-fire designed by Egypt is, well, logical. Let’s admit it. They do not wish to accept defeat, and the Egyptian terms are a defeat for Hamas. By attacking Israel, what has Hamas wrought? Considerable damage was done to Gaza by Israeli air power, and Gazans will be picking up the pieces for months if not longer. But Hamas proved unable to kill one single Israeli with its hundreds of rockets, and all its special tricks—tunnels, longer-range rockets, a drone—also failed. Nor could

House Republicans are moving quickly to address the growing humanitarian crisis on the southern border, possibly holding votes as soon as next week. As Congress moves closer to the monthlong August recess, the speedy action sends a clear message to Senate Democrats: Take it or leave it. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), incoming Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and a group of top lawmakers working on the border crisis are set to file a bill that very closely mirrors the legislation crafted by Texas lawmakers Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican, and Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar.

Two of the larger social trends of our time — the growth of payday gambling and the legalization of marijuana — have two things in common: They are justified as the expansion of personal liberty, and they serve the interests of an expanding government. The ideological alliance behind these changes is among the strangest in U.S. politics. Libertarians seek to lift governmental restraints on consensual acts. State governments seek sources of revenue without the political inconvenience of requesting broad tax increases. Both find common ground in encouraging and exploiting the weaknesses and addictions of citizens. (And business interests and their lobbyists,

That same consensus also holds that if the GOP does indeed take control, the next two years will be marked by confrontation with the White House and even less actual legislative action than the present Congress has accomplished.
