The Class War Inside the
Republican Party

Atlantic, by Alex Roarty

Original Article

It took David Perdue about 20 seconds of speechifying to expose a tension roiling the Republican Party. Speaking in January, the former business executive turned Georgia candidate for U.S. Senate asked a group of local Republicans to parse the resumes of his primary foes. "There´s a high-school graduate in this race, okay?" said Perdue, referring to his opponent, former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel. "I´m sorry, these issues are so much broader, so complex. There´s only one candidate in this race who´s ever lived outside the United States. How can you bring value to a debate about the economy unless

I will vote in the Georgia primary for Karen Handel mainly because she got the Palin endorsement. I also think Perdue is an elite establishment snob in waiting.

FYA; the GOP tone and agenda are set by a voting bloc of mostly white, blue-collar workers whose sensibilities skew more toward NASCAR than golf

I would suggest it skews more to family values than basketball.

The last sentence in the article from the GOP Strategist said anonymously, "You go around and hang out with big Republican donors, and if you were to take all their advice on how to win, you´d be screwed beyond belief, particularly in a primary."

I believe the GOP Strategists are the reasons Republican candidates are screwed. They twist and turn a candidate until he doesn´t know himself when he looks in a mirror. I am all for dumping anyone who calls himself a GOP strategist. They are the guys who doomed Romney who would have been a good President; but was a horrible candidate!

The GOP problems involve ethics. GOP voters expect elected candidates to keep their oaths of office, ...not to say one thing when campaigning and then, after getting the votes, doing the opposite when in office. Those contrary clandestine backroom deals antagonize observant voters.

Perdue sounds like a snob.

Palin is right that many people have more smarts without all the diplomas from fancy schools.

Remember what William F. Buckley said about governing: he´d rather be governed by the first 2,000 names in the Boston phone book than the 2,000 member of the faculty of Harvard.

Obama and the Culture of Death

By its own admission, the Arab world loves death more than it loves life. Consider that "during all periods of their history, the ancient Egyptians seem to have spent much of their time thinking of death and making provisions for their afterlife. The vast size ... and the ubiquity of their funerary monuments bear testimony to this obsession." Consider that the Palestinian world teaches its children to embrace shahid, or martyrdom. It is an aberrant culture where parents celebrate their own children´s deaths by the promotion of suicide terrorism.

This past week, Fox News, Megyn Kelly, and Dinesh D’Souza gave a platform to an entity that hates America and our way of life. Seems the prospect of smokin’ out a snake like Bill Ayers was too good to pass up. Getting an exclusive one-on-one with a crazy, violent communist with a small c was quite a coup for Kelly and D’Souza...or was it? Since lying and deceit generally benefit the liar, we have to ask, ”What was in it for Bill Ayers?” A mea culpa for past crimes? Hardly. After listening to Ayers, we must conclude: once a psychopath, always a psychopath.

It´s a story that´s been told before. After a failed bid for the White House, the long-serving senator returned to Capitol Hill. As the years wore on, he sparred with the president, used his name recognition to push his pet causes and became a power broker able to step in when party leadership failed. In many ways, Sen. John McCain has followed the path laid out by Sen. Ted Kennedy after his unsuccessful attempt to wrest the Democratic nomination from Jimmy Carter in 1980. But there are differences between the Arizona Republican and the Massachusetts Democrat, and not just those of party

Although Hillary Clinton is undoubtedly happy that a sympathetic and excited press agreed to cover her new memoir, Hard Choices, she´s apparently unimpressed with much of the reporting on her book tour. And what a book tour it has been. From one gaffe regarding her family´s impressive wealth to the next, it appears that Clinton can´t catch a break. And remember: Each Clinton misstep regarding her personal wealth has occurred during ridiculously easy softball interviews with a sympathetic press. Still, rather than pull the plug on her less-than-stellar book tour, and take a moment to regroup and maybe try again, Clinton has decided

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has sent the Tea Party to the back benches, and after the recent defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), is his successor any different than him? No. Did anything change? No. The Tea Party is not being done in by Democrats; it is being done in by the party of big business, crony capitalism, big money from insider Wall Street and big banks, the Chamber of Commerce and the corporate lobbying wing of the Tea Party's real nemesis:

The next presidential election is still two years away, but with some major midterm elections set for this coming Election Day, Rock the Vote is making a grand return to encourage young voters to get active in the political process. Beginning with the 1992 presidential election, the nonpartisan group – using pop music as their hook – was instrumental in inspiring politically uninvolved baby boomers and Gen-Xers to get off the couch and make their voices heard via the ballot box. With the U.S. now experiencing a demographic shift, the new-look Rock the Vote will refocus their efforts on millienials, of

Gallup on June 19 published a poll that dealt with American confidence in institutions, alleging that public faith in Congress reached the lowest point since the question had been polled. Was that the real story? An analysis of the polling results of American confidence in different institutions, and a review of those results over time suggests something much more significant: Americans overwhelmingly express confidence in those institutions historically connected with conservatism and overwhelmingly express little faith in those institutions historically connected with leftism.

Many view America´s education as a failure, but in at least one important way, it´s been a success — a success in dumbing down the nation so that we fall easy prey to charlatans, hustlers and quacks. You say, "Williams, that´s insulting! Explain yourself." OK, let´s start with a question or two. Are you for or against global warming, later renamed climate change and more recently renamed climate disruption? Environmentalists have renamed it because they don´t want to look silly in the face of cooling temperatures. About 650 million years ago, the Earth was frozen from pole to pole, a period

That’s the problem both candidates for House majority leader promised to fix when they delivered their pitches to the rank and file at a closed door meeting. “I want every member to feel relevant again,” Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, pledged when he addressed a crowd of about 50 lawmakers. “I want you to feel like you did the first day you came to Congress. Do you remember that day? That was an amazing day filled with endless possibilities.” First elected in 2010, Labrador is the underdog candidate against House Majority Whip

This is bad news for Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and his presidential ambitions.
